This is our fourth stay at the one and only Cape Town over a period of 6 years. We first came as part of our Honeymoon and loved the hotel and South Africa so much that we keep coming back. This stay has been the best of all our visits. The rooms are as spacious and clean as ever. However there has been huge improvements in almost all other departments. Even the check in process was pleasant and handled in both a friendly and professional manner. Previously we have always felt that the pool area really let the hotel down. Now the staff are first rate and well managed by Fortune - always on hand to find beds , top up drinks and lend a helping hand - truly a 5 Star service. The menu is also vastly improved. Again the bar area has improved dramatically, the drinks and food menu is again vastly improved. The staff here are very friendly and helpful - the star for us has to be Jeffrey who we have known now for 6 years. His infectious smile and attitude are a joy to behold. Also the bar area manager Phetogo is very friendly and has really brought the standards up. Only let down was when we asked for a late check out and were given the “full occupancy “ line. After speaking to the manager of that area we were disappointed she didn’t even try to accommodate our request. However after some influence by another area manager we were granted late check out - this was good in the end but it was very badly handled by the reception manager.

After telling friends how brilliant The Cape Grace is for their personal and attentive service someone recommended to me this hotel. Lovely? Yes. Personal? No. Grand and beautiful building with excellent staff but somewhat impersonal and lack the 'nothing is too much' attitude that should come with a high class hotel. To asking for an extra egg for breakfast or an extra pot of coffee - every time you are reminded 'this costs extra' Never heard this at Cape Grace - always 'of course Madam, no problem Madam' and it's never put on the bill. I wouldn't even mind if it was put on the bill but the constant reminders are not classy and patronizing. An extra egg is not going to break their business so they'd be better off saying 'of course Madam' and giving me an extra egg and then having me rave about the customer service and bring back several friends. Like I have with Cape Grace - always a pleasure to be there and always catered for to a six star degree. Unfortunately whilst one&only was grand and smart - its the finer customer care that needs a polish. The extra reminders and even costs at breakfast for the smallest things scrub away at the class of the place and leave a sour taste. I would come back but I'll always choose Cape Grace over O&O for this reason.

Spectacular place - if in Cape Town you need to visit - despite this “just being a hotel bar”. Fantastic place, great drinks, great people and bartenders are the best ! We stayed for 2 nights 3 years ago, this time went only for drinks. AND we went for a specific drink we had 3 years ago- which unfortunate was no longer on the drinks menu. But luckily Archie & Molehe still knew the drink - and produced it specially for us on request! GREAT SERVICE, thanks

After a horrible experience of service at the Silo Hotel in Cape Town for aperitifs. We simply were not welcome there. After dinner at the Waterfront we went for a good night cap to the One and Only... Everybody indulged us with friendliness, even as not hotel guests we were greeted and welcomed by the doormen and bar staff. Archie and his team were unbelievable, so friendly and welcoming. Thank you very much, an example of hospitality for everyone... And great drinks for a reasonable price for the quality you offer... Great experience, we will be back...

The place looks amazing it is a shame the bar service is slow. On a number of occasions they have run out of produce so some cocktails are unavailable not something you’d expect at such a high rated hotel. Still probably worth a visit but maybe try the other hotels.
