Dating back to 1682, the Steenberg Hotel is an exquisite historic wine farm set in the foothills of South Africa's magnificent Constantia Valley. Although just 20 minutes from the center of Cape Town, this serene set of buildings - declared an official National Monument - is its own seductive world, surrounded by vineyards and an 18-hole championship golf course. The buildings have been lovingly restored and decorated traditionally with antiques in elegant 17th-century style. In your delightful guest room or suite, you will discover a wealth of treats, which may include a romantic patio with views of the vines and fairways.

This hotel is an absolute gem. It is a heritage estate set among the vines, and yet feels so contemporary and has exquisite facilities matched by tremendous staff. The food, the facilities, the gardens, the elegant yet happily homely decor makes this a place like no other and definitely the best in the Cape.

We stayed here on our honeymoon for a week as base to explore Cape Town. It was the absolute perfect location - outside the busy centre and a tranquil place to relax, but within easy reach of the centre and the winelands to go sight seeing. Everyone we encountered was very friendly. Clint really looked after us especially, helping us organise excursions which were all perfect. The food was absolutely exceptional throughout. Our room was really pretty and the grounds were peaceful and very well looked after. We couldn't have asked for a better stay in Cape Town and hope we can come back one day!

Unfortunately just one night stay with family of three in two rooms. Everything was just perfect; grounds, facilities, food at Tryn and the very helpful staff. Only comment was that pricing during top holiday season was quite high, also for non SA standards - but worth it

We just loved staying here - a real highlight of our trip to Cape Town. Our room was stunning. The food and service at both restaurants were some of the best we have ever had. In fact, all of the staff were great - so friendly and helpful. The grounds are stunning and we loved walking the trail around the vineyard. We were sad to have to check out and can't wait to go back again!

The Steenberg is an exceptionally beautiful hotel, especially for golfers. The golf club is a 5-minute walk away. And the golf course is fantastic, one of the most beautiful in all of South Africa! The hotel offers an outstanding breakfast, and the service is very attentive and friendly (thanks to everyone, especially Kieran, who made sure everything was perfect during our last breakfast because we had to leave so early. Thanks again!). Both restaurants there are great, we especially love the bistro! The shuttle service there runs constantly, we never had to wait. But we also had a great lunch at Tryn. Conclusion: this was our second time here and we will definitely be back! It is also particularly worth mentioning that they were especially attentive with my gluten intolerance, every meal was carefully considered and adjusted accordingly. Thank you for that.

The Steenberg is absolutely beautiful and the staff couldn't have been more gracious, friendly and professional. The food at Cathrina's restaurant was beautifully prepared and the service was exceptional. The property offers lots to do but the staff also gave us the option do using their transportation to visit other wine properties in the area as well as other fine restaurants. Though only 30 minutes from the heart of Cape Town you are truly in the country and away from it all. My wife and I would go back and stay for a week in a heart beat and it is a must on the next visit to South Africa.” L. Faulk

The restaurant at the hotel is excellent and is a great place to celebrate - the high quality of the Steenberg wine helps!

We stayed in the hotel for 5 days. Playing 18 holes on the Steenberg golf course is an experience I'll never miss. So we decided already to go again!

We stayed at the Steenberg Hotel in September. We would very highly recommend Catharina's, the restaurant attached to the hotel. We couldn't find fault the food and service here - wonderful.

Steenberg was recommended to us by a friend. South Africa is wonderful and a stay at Steenberg makes it complete.
