Dating back to 1682, the Steenberg Hotel is an exquisite historic wine farm set in the foothills of South Africa's magnificent Constantia Valley. Although just 20 minutes from the center of Cape Town, this serene set of buildings - declared an official National Monument - is its own seductive world, surrounded by vineyards and an 18-hole championship golf course. The buildings have been lovingly restored and decorated traditionally with antiques in elegant 17th-century style. In your delightful guest room or suite, you will discover a wealth of treats, which may include a romantic patio with views of the vines and fairways.

The place is more than extraordinary, the staff are extremely wonderful and very careful about our safety, food is out of this world and especially in Tryn Restaurant. The managers are very supportive and you can trust them very much, especially Clint and Bridgette. Josh is a very knowledgeable person who will be more than happy to assist you with planning your vacation whether you are staying in the estate or planning to go outside for different activities, restaurants and sightseeing. The rooms are just wonderful, extremely spacious and quiet, just the way we wanted. Walking around the estate is just beautiful, the scenic routes are just a beauty to the eyes.

We stayed here on the final leg of our journey around South Africa. Our room was one of the older types available on the property, it was spacious with a good sized bathroom albeit a bit creaky in parts! very comfortable beds and quiet at night. There is a spa in the hotel although it only has a very small outside pool which was a bit disappointing, the spa treatments were excellent some of the best we've had in Africa. The breakfast was good and could be had inside or outside on the terrace, we ate in the main restaurant one night and the food was very good and an exceptional wine list as expected. There is a also a more casual restaurant on the grounds which was very nice as well, tapas style food but worth a visit. We played golf a few times and the course was in very good condition, green fees, buggy, club hire all very reasonable compared to european prices although we did go for a caddy the first day which in hindsight was an issue as he was quite surly and short so we didn't bother the other times we played. There is also a very nice bar/restaurant in the golf club where we ate a few times. I was surprised that there was nowhere to sit and have a drink at night apart from the restaurants. There is also a few restaurants/bars immediately outside of the electric fence/gates which the hotel offered us a shuttle to which was nice. All of the staff were super nice and friendly and exceptionally helpful making recommendations etc. A fab place to stay for spa and golf albeit with a tiny swimming pool.

This is probably one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. The facilities are impeccable and the staff are extremely friendly and hospitable. Nothing is too much trouble to ensure that your stay is memorable. I will definitely be back to stay again- soon I hope

We had a wonderful time here, staying in April 2024 for 5 days, we were able to explore lots of different places nearby. Booked the family suite which was generous and everything perfect. The warmth all the staff exuded was exceptional. Despite on the last day they managed to get every single one of our breakfast orders wrong (we went earlier than usual and they had a birthday and wedding breakfast to attend to) and we waited well over an hour, they were good at keeping us informed and being apologetic. The room down service was very good. Alvin, Robyn and others were brilliant. We enjoyed the outdoor pool a couple of times. The Norval Foundation museum which is next door was fantastic. We didn’t realise we could have used the nearby gym with a voucher, would have benefited from using that. The Tryn and brasserie were nice. Thank you!

We stayed on the Steenberg estate for three nights as part of a three week holiday in South Africa and I have one word for it. Exquisite. I don’t think I’ve ever felt more taken care of in any other hotel anywhere in the world. From the moment you arrive you are treated as a VIP. Check in is warm and friendly and relaxed; Precious couldn’t have been more lovely. She handled our arrival seamlessly and then handed us over to the wonderful Brigitte. Brigitte was a constant yet discreet presence for our entire stay; she made us feel effortlessly at ease and that nothing was too much trouble. Her kindness and professionalism shone through as it did from everyone we came across from the barista in the restaurant to the sorceress in the spa who worked magic on my knotted back and frozen shoulder like no one ever has before. The food is heavenly, the beds are divine and the wines are outstanding. This was our first visit and it certainly won’t be the last. Treat yourself!

The Steenberg is absolutely beautiful and the staff couldn't have been more gracious, friendly and professional. The food at Cathrina's restaurant was beautifully prepared and the service was exceptional. The property offers lots to do but the staff also gave us the option do using their transportation to visit other wine properties in the area as well as other fine restaurants. Though only 30 minutes from the heart of Cape Town you are truly in the country and away from it all. My wife and I would go back and stay for a week in a heart beat and it is a must on the next visit to South Africa.” L. Faulk

The restaurant at the hotel is excellent and is a great place to celebrate - the high quality of the Steenberg wine helps!

We stayed in the hotel for 5 days. Playing 18 holes on the Steenberg golf course is an experience I'll never miss. So we decided already to go again!

We stayed at the Steenberg Hotel in September. We would very highly recommend Catharina's, the restaurant attached to the hotel. We couldn't find fault the food and service here - wonderful.

Steenberg was recommended to us by a friend. South Africa is wonderful and a stay at Steenberg makes it complete.
