Reviews for Carefree Resort & Conference Center
Overall, the property is in dire need of an update. It's old and our room was falling apart, needing serious repair. If it's a quiet getaway you're looking for, this is the place. Then again, you're in Carefree, which is really out in the desert. It gets really dark there at night. We were there in March and the place was very quiet--the main clientele seems to include families with children, as well as conference and weddings (although we saw neither of the two events happening when we were there. Ghost town.) Room: As mentioned, in serious need of repair and updates. Other disappointments: 1. Blowdryer was missing 2. Alarm clock was missing 3. Microwave wasn't working and is hard to use 4. Due to the room being old, there is a serious lack of electrical outlets and the lighting is very dark. There are NO installed lights in the ceiling in the main room--all the lighting comes from plugged in lamps. 5. Our room featured 2 queen beds--but were more like a larger double. Room was very small and featured black furniture which didn't really match each other and the color seemed to make the room seem even more closed in. 6. Bathroom features 2 sinks, but please take a look at my attached photos for more details. One of the sinks was cracked. The space between the bathroom door and toilet is also very tight. Not good if you're a tall person. Pool & Amenities 1. There is only one pool and a hot tub. Can get noisy especially if there are kids or rowdy adults. There is a firepit at night. Be forewarned that there is NO poolside service. Tumbleweeds. Again, ghost town...nobody will come out to serve you. Go inside if you want service of any kind. 2. Having said that, we didn't eat at the restaurant there, but there's only one there. Save your money and go back to the town of Cave Creek, closeby and where there's a street of some cool restaurants. As for positive aspects, the staff is responsive to help and react to requests. There is also a nice little desert garden in the middle of the property by the pool.

An excellent hotel/resort with a large pool, free wi-fi, fridge, tea/coffee making facilities. Lovely views and the villas/lodges surrounded by the cacti. Very relaxing with friendly staff. Restaurant was good.

This is such a lovely little town and a great resort to stay at when attending Spring Training baseball games. The prices EVERYWHERE this time of year are ridiculous but staying at this beautiful somewhat secluded resort makes it a little less painful. We have stayed at the Carefree Resort and Conference center 3 years in a row and we will continue to stay here. It is only a short drive into Scottsdale for the games, shopping and dining and when you get up in the morning or come back in the evenings the surrounding local is simply breathtaking. The pool is so warm and inviting and the gardens are so peaceful and lovely that there is no better place for the money. The first year and this year we stayed in a king room that was large, clean and lovely, last year we stayed in a double queen room that was not quite as nice as the king room but was still clean and it had a refrigerator that the King rooms do not have. Last year there was a conference going on the this year and the previous year was not happening and I have to say it is calmer when it is just resort guests and NOT conference attendees but we still had no issues. We ate one evening in the resorts restaurant and had a steak which was delicious! The staff are very friendly and attentive. Upon arriving our room was warm and after messing with the thermostat the room just got warmer, called the front desk and within 5 minutes two workers came right over and fixed the issue. Nice comfortable room for the rest of our stay!

We stayed at Carefree Resort for my niece's nearby wedding this past weekend. Overall, my husband and I were happy with the accommodations. Our few issues included hearing a woman shuffle a deck of cards in the next room, not being assured of the availability of a rental mini fridge (during most unseasonably hot weather), and problems with a room service order (although we were generously compensated with gift cards towards another meal). I specifically would like to mention Diane in concierge who was incredibly helpful and a pleasure to work with, as well as Tyler, the young man who took our reservations over the phone.

We had a short stay. After sunset through sunrise. The decor was lovely. American West and Cowboy style. The cactus gardens and pool are vast and nearly meticulous. No shower head on our shower in an updated bathroom, like many others, where the water has no boundary so it soaks the whole bathroom floor. Skimpy on the towels which were needed to mop the floor. One bath towel per person but a beach towel for each was a nice addition. The experience was a strange mix of luxury, beautiful decor and out of date motel rooms. We should have accepted the offer for "assistance with luggage". The parking is so very far from the rooms even though we are very fit the trek was too long. Browse the gardens carefully b/c private residences surround the resort and there are no boundaries nor signs. We were admiring oranges and grapefruit on trees by the tennis court until we realized we were in someone's yard.
