Carmel Valley Ranch has always been an escape with plenty of room to roam, to explore, to discover. Where people rekindle romances, reunite with friends and family, revive spirits, or simply get away and play. And these days, play is more important than ever. Our all-suite accommodations are where the luxury of resort living meets the call of the wild. Swap stories by the fireplace. Gaze at the stars from your private deck as you savor a glass of wine from our own vineyard. You’ll be comfy, carefree, and most of all, captivated. The only Pete Dye-designed bentgrass golf course in Northern California is right here at Carmel Valley Ranch, and no matter how you slice it (or hook it), this par-70 layout offers something for all players: tactical shots, dramatic elevation changes and incredible scenery. Our talented artisans add a unique twist to experiences at The Ranch—join them and hang out with horses, say hello to honeybees, greet our goats, and more.

It is a lovely hotel but definitely not worth the expense. Would recommend the other hotels in the area instead. A few big issues -Rooms are massive but smelled a bit stale. You can also easily hear your neighbors next door -No notification at booking that the spa/pool was not operational. Instead I had to pay out of pocket to go to Refuge, which was lovely, but still disappointing. -AMEX FHR on its website clearly states breakfast is covered, but you only get $80. A normal breakfast without alcohol cost us $115, so clearly the credit is not sufficient. I have emailed them asking them to refund me the difference but even after 2 followups they have not responded. Pretty poor customer service. We are local so I'd love to return to continue using Amex FHR, but I will be choosing other local hotels instead.

The resort is absolutely beautiful (seriously out of an fairytale with rolling hills and beautiful sunsets) and very family friendly (I think dog friendly too, I recall seeing some dogs). We went with our child who was probably too little at the time to partake in many of the activities but we all had an enjoyable stay. The room was very spacious and impeccably clean. The food in the restaurant/breakfast is top notch with a wide selection. The staff is extremely hospitable and kind. There is a lot to do within the resort - hikes, a petting zoo, etc. Our stay was too short to do some of these and we plan to return for a longer visit this summer.

I wish I had known the extent of the renovations before booking. The property is currently undergoing a massive overhaul that isn't slated for completion until Spring 2026, and it significantly impacts the guest experience. - Closed Amenities: The main lobby entrance, the pool, and the spa are all completely closed. (Services available in a "satellite" spa and you can use the pool at the nearby country club - River Ranch) - Logistics: The nearest available pool and gym can be up to a 1.2-mile walk from your room. This is not the "resort" experience you pay for. - Atmosphere: The property is crawling with construction workers, both on the grounds and throughout the lobby area. If you are looking for a quiet, luxury getaway, stay elsewhere until the work is finished. As it stands, this is a construction site, not a retreat.

Great atmosphere, beautiful and relaxing. Spacious and clean room. Many activities for kids to enjoy: swimming pool, tennis, kids club, movie room, etc. Stuff are very friendly and responsive. Grazing with goat was such a memorable joy for the whole family. Plus food is amazing!

Was really looking forward to our stay but overall felt underwhelmed and disappointed. The room was nice and spacious. The layout of the hotel is very spacious so be ready for walking and going up/down hill and to navigate the grounds in the dark (signage not so visible with the small lamps). Overall the service was not on par with what you pay. There’s a texting service for any questions you have. Unfortunately we were ignored multiple times. The food at Valley Kitchen is very good but the service is also disappointing. The grounds are beautiful and being able to see the animals up close was very special. One of the most dog-friendly hotels and that was also very cool! Overall though, I think we will explore other spots rather than come back to Carmel Valley Ranch due to the service.
