As the crescent moon rises above a sprawling 10th century castle, the silhouette of the rolling hills creates soft shadows and a gentle breeze envelopes you in the scent of sun-ripened olives. A hint of utopia to some is just the end of another peaceful day at Castello di Casole, an expansive estate in the Tuscan countryside and part of the Legend Collection by Preferred Hotels & Resorts. Consisting of an all-suite boutique hotel, lavish farmhouse villas, on-site spa and a sumptuous array of fine dining, Castello di Casole captures every aspect of your dream vacation and presents it to you on an idyllic Italian countryside.

With just 41 exquisitely designed suites, the staff at Castello di Casole is able to focus on the needs of each guest with discriminating detail. Savor the opulence of the finest Italian textiles and custom bed linens just a little longer as you enjoy breakfast in bed, courtesy of the hotel's 24-hour in-room dining service. With 4,200 acres surrounding the hotel, set off to explore the grounds with a picnic basket to enjoy a lunch amidst the olive trees. Sample impossibly sweet grapes from the estate's vineyards during a guided tasting tour, or spend the day getting lost in the breathtaking Etruscan artifacts on the property. With the equally stunning cities of Florence, Siena, and San Gimignano nearby, you can experience the extensive beauty of Italy with a call to the concierge, who will arrange a private car. If you want to stay active during your Italian holiday, make use of the hotel's fitness center and private trainers, or jog through Castello di Casole's acclaimed Model Game Reserve. If the season is right, accompany like-minded guests on a hunting expedition through the lush, scenic reserve. Those who hope to preserve a piece of paradise may purchase one of the 28 farmhouse villas contained within the serene estate. The villas are either restored or reconstructed to emulate their original splendor, and "Owners", as they are affectionately known, enjoy the same services as guests. No matter how you choose to spend your days at Castello di Casole, you will not need to take Italian lessons (which are also available) to know that everything is perfetto.

This was the surprise hotel of our one month honeymoon in Italy. We stayed for 2 nights in what I thought would be a lovely stop over on the way to Cinque Terre and Portofino from Florence. How I wished I had booked an entire week here. First of all, it was the best welcome from staff we received out of the 10 hotels we visited. Everyone introduced themselves, were super friendly and informative and management was a constant presence in our time there. We had a studio suite and it was the perfect size with a huge living room with couches and a work station, a large bedroom with the most comfy bed, a spacious ensuite with a separate stand alone tub and rainfall shower and finally a decent sized closet! One thing I really appreciated here that only one other hotel offered (Il Sereno at Lake Como) was the complimentary mini bar. Such a small thing but it really adds to the feeling of being home. The property is beautiful and rustic but with every modern amenity you might want. The spa looked gorgeous and I will 100% be checking it out next summer. The views of the rolling Tuscan hills were stunning and I spent many hours at the beautiful infinity pool just admiring the scenery. The food was absolutely amazing. An extensive breakfast buffet was served each morning with fresh juices, fruit, yogurt, meats, cheese, pastries as well as beautifully prepared egg dishes from the a la carte menu. The pizza, pasta and salads at night were among my favourite meals of the trip. Try the prawn salad and the diavolo pizza! Not to mention the delicious creme brûlée and gelato. The wine was, of course, delicious and you have to try the fresh peach bellinis before dinner. Everything was just YUM! Above all, it was the staff that really made our stay here. I can't remember everyone's name but Fredrico (the manager) and Roberto (at the restaurant) stand out. Thank you for your hospitality and we will see you for a week next year!

Chef can cook for you at your villa. They have Michelin Star restaurant Tusca. You indulge every course of food for sure.Specially Foie gras and dessert. We had a wonderful idyllic vacation this summer. Thanks to the resort for making it happen. Should take a activity like hot air balloon, truffle hunt with dog 'Chu sock',Wine tasting. You will also enjoy the wine yard ERTA trip for fine Tuscany wine.

Castello di Casole is a luxurious hotel, consistently rated among the best 50 hotels in the world. We booked an Olivetto one-bedroom suite. The suite was well appointed and comfortable, but it was a sizeable hike away from the hotel, which made it far from convenient. We enjoy walking but on our own terms, not as an obligation. The hotel should really provide a golf cart to guests staying in these suites. Views from the suites are also more confined than from the hotel. Food in the hotel restaurants is ok but not great. The service is excellent and friendly. On balance, Castello di Casole delivered a good but not outstanding experience.

My wife and I recently spent five nights in an Olivetti Suite. After the crazy mobs of Rome, we were looking for a place of quiet and serenity. This was the perfect place to rest, refresh, and enjoy the wonderful food and wine. The setting is magical. Drinks and food on the patio at sunset is an experience we'll never forget. The helpfulness and friendliness of the staff is exceptional. It truly deserves it's #1 rank as the best resort in Italy.
