Sunny skies shine brightly over lush stretches of vineyards, cool crisp air flows through fields, and the beauty of the Renaissance era is brought to life once more - all in Montalcino, Italy's Castello di Velona. Nestled in the hills of Siena, in Tuscany's picturesque d'Orcia Valley, this stunning 11th-century castle has been fully restored and today offers a fairytale luxury European escape. Immerse yourself in serenity in either the traditional castle rooms or the new spa-style rooms, relaxing in complete comfort and enjoying sweeping views of Tuscany. The classically styled Castello Rooms are charming and full of life, with antique furnishings, and ornate style reminiscent of Italy's artistic history. We spend every year a long weekend with my wife in a romantic and intimate place without our kids. My had chosen this plan last time. And it was a 100% perfect choice. All details were just great. Our room was spacious and smart with a great view of the Tuscan hills. I should say that the surrounding and the view were gorgeous at each part of the hotel. And the restaurant. No words which could describe the fantastic experience we had at all dinners and also at breakfast. Smart, elegant, romantic atmosphere, awesome dishes with an excellent Brunello and beautiful view. We spend our days at the pool which was also a great and relaxing enjoyment. Beyond all praise experiment!

I am writing in advance of our stay to commend the service of everyone on the team. I called to talk to the front desk abut upgrading my room and for the first time in my life I was disuaded, being told that I have already booked a stunning room. The young woman who helped me asked me what I wanted and shared that I would have 2 rooms so I could get up early and make myself coffee while my son sleeps later. She also said that there was a terace overlooking the heritage sight and this was one of the ncest rooms. The concierge Diego and team, could not have been more helpful . We are so excited to join you on Monday. Thank you again. S. Nayar

Had a great experience here in this beautiful castle in the Tuscan hills. We loved the meals in the restaurants. Superb food and fantastic wines, and great service from the staff. My wife took full advantage of the spa and pool. Would love to go back.

The hotel is beautiful, but there is something off about this place. You should check out the ghost of Velona. I felt like a cash cow more than a guest. Transfer provided by car service €110 each way as compared to €30 to €70 by private car. Why would they do this? They also take a piece of restaurants they booked for me. Left a bad taste in my mouth. The staff seems a bit unhappy as well. I don’t know, something toxic about the ownership.

It’s fine. Not worth more than that. Truly not worth even the review. Incredibly expensive for sub par food, a lackluster concierge, little to no service, rude staff. However, I will note, Domenico and the cooking class was the only highlight! Last thing - don’t pay for a suite with a terrace, the doors do not open but somehow still allowed water in when it rained. Not sure.

Most outstanding was Castello di Velona, located on its own hill in Montalcino, Italy. Just approaching it was a fairy tale. This restored castle enabled me to imagine what it would be like being a princess for five wonderful nights. The suite encompassed two rooms, with exquisite furnishings and frescoes. The views from the windows looked upon the vineyards and winding roads of Tuscany. The service and food were wonderful.
