Amazing hotel with top location

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Great hotel, top location, comfortable room, tasty breakfast and super 2 restaurants. Friendly staff. Nice climate. Very good for families with children. Big advantage is underground parking lot with extra places with chargers for EV.

A great option for families and travelers who want to relax and enjoy the spa

My kids favorite hotel ever. From the bikes in the lobby to the bunk beds and video games in the room, my kids (7 and 10) LOVED this hotel. We booked an attic family suite for two nights and there were so many well thought out details to support families on vacation - candy and juice boxes in the kids area, chessboard and other games available, water and coffee available everywhere, popcorn one evening, a video game console in our room, bunk beds with curtains, a shelf and their own reading light. They couldn’t stop talking about it. My husband and I really liked the breakfast in your room option - for 2 Euros more per person, we preordered the night before and had it delivered at a selected time the next day. It is SO MUCH Food. We 100% over ordered our first morning, but it was nice to have leftovers for the rest of the trip. The location was very convenient and easily walkable. The train to the glacier and the alpine roller coaster were a quick 15/20 minute walk from the hotel. We walked to all activities and meals during our stay. Now here’s the rub - one of the biggest reasons we booked this hotel was for the pool. And from prior reviews, we knew it was open from 10-2 for kids. What I didn’t appreciate (and yes it’s sort of stated in one of the several confirmation emails you get) is that because check-in is at 4, kids can’t use the pool the day you check-in. They will not let you access it early while you wait for your room. And checkout is at 12, so you can only use the pool 10-12 on your checkout day. Take this into account when planning your activities. The Spa facilities are so nice (and I take no issue with the no kids rule, I enjoyed a few kid free moments there this week and it was so nice) two steam rooms, hot tub, pool, cold plunge, cold/ice room and shower facilities. Robes and slippers are in your room, so it made the walk from your room to the pool very comfortable. Staff - I am going to chalk this one up to cultural differences. I, and several other Americans we spoke to while there, found the staff to be cold and not overly friendly. I know that’s very much the European way. But I did cringe every time I had to ask the front desk staff for anything because it seemed like I was bothering them. They do, however, speak numerous languages, which I thought was very cool. Parents take on the attic family rooms - two nights was enough. I hit my head enough times and showering without standing up in the bathtub was annoying. The room temp was very warm with little air circulation, so we slept with the patio door open both nights. The toilet broke the first night and they were very quick to fix it, which I appreciated. Overall, I would love to come back but I would select another room with bunkbeds and a roof that isn’t sloped. We really enjoyed our time in Chom!

Excellent apartments, highly recommended

What a wonderful time we had! Stayed in the Le Gouter large apartment with 4 friends for my 40th birthday and we had an excellent stay. The apartment location is brilliant. The facilities are excellent and met all of our needs, with a well equipped kitchen and toiletries. The apartments are right next to the main hotel and the facilities there were great, with a lovely spa (although the pool was quite cold and not many changing rooms) but the best steam room I have ever been in. The hotel had a lovely complementary hot drinks station as well as popcorn and juice and sweets for the kids. It was great to have the ski hire shop in the hotel and the guys in there were really helpful and organised. Our hot tub was lovely and hot with great views of the mountains. Our apartment also had a small sauna, as well as access to a shared boot room. Close to local bars and restaurants and right next to the Aiguille du Midi cable car. We visited the Frometon restaurant on our first night and that was also very good. Highly recommend and would definitely return.

Almost perfect

On a plus side, a really comfortable hotel with plenty of social space. Popcorn and apres ski crepes was a real win with the children. There is also a toddler play area and chess / games for older kids. The ski shop team were really accommodating and the convenience of their ski storage was good. The concierge were incredibly helpful both during the trip and before hand - they couldn’t do more. The spa is a great standard - lovely facility using nux (also available for in room toiletries.) Worth noting children’s swim time is restricted, a plus for some but was disappointing for us. A few down sides - no fridge in the room, breakfast quality wasn’t as expected and do think the hotel is very expensive. We had a variety of rooms in our group and would recommend the family attic room but be prepared to pay. Location a good, near a bus stop and a short walk into town. If you are with children and doing ski school on either of the two main locations then you do need to be organised to get the first bus out in the morning.

Extraordinary ski hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

Extraordinary ski hotel in many ways. The location is close to the bus station for easy access to the ski areas and within walking distance of most Chamonix attractions. The construction is new and spacious with a large lobby, spa, and restaurants. The rooms are good sized and well appointed although the lighting in the rooms is somewhat dim. Service was excellent on the front desk, in the ski shop and in the restaurant.
