Belmond Charleston Place in Charleston, South Carolina

The South is known for its genteel hospitality, and Belmond Charleston Place is a prime example why. Understated service is ever-present. Under a 12-foot hand-blown Venetian chandelier, a grand open-arm staircase leads to rooms decorated in refined neutrals. Next door, an Art Deco theater restored by the hotel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and at the Charleston Grill nightly live jazz accompanies a AAA Four-Diamond dinner menu of gourmet Southern classics.

Step out onto your Juliet balcony to watch Charleston wake up. Wander through narrow cobblestoned streets, tripping across eclectic local boutiques and history markers dating from the Civil War. Take a picturesque countryside drive to America’s only tea plantation. After a soul-warming plate of buttery grits and shrimp, snuggle up in a horse-drawn carriage as it ambles on Southern time.

We have stayed at this property more than 6 times and each visit just gets better. Exquisite service, beautifully appointed rooms, nice spa and great rooftop pool and bar. All staff are welcoming and uber-professional. The hotel gives new meaning to luxury hospitality with no detail left unresolved. On day of eclipse the staff provided viewing glasses to all in the neighborhood! Palmetto Cafe brunch is elegant and delicious, peach ice tea and crab omelette is as good as it gets. Mayan coffee is French press brewed and a classic. Most of all the staff are gracious, and bend over backwards to help ensure your visit to Charleston is a wonderful one.

We stayed at the Hyatt Hotel downtown Charleston on our first leg of our trip, the hotel was very nice, we enjoyed lots music and good food. On our second leg, we stayed at the Parkway Suite in Hilton Head enjoying good food and music. I would recommend this place to everyone who is looking for a great vacation place.

We could not have had a better hotel experience-especially beautiful room, quiet hallways at night, two concierges on duty, friendly staff. I requested a foam pillow and housekeeping brought it immediately. We went for the eclipse and everyone there got free glasses. The rooms have been upgraded since our last visit here and electronics worked beautifully, the marble bathroom was perfect, and more. It was so quiet at night I felt as if we were the only guests on that floor, yet we stayed on the swimming pool, spa floor and there were lots of children in the hallways.

A truly fantastic hotel. We stayed here on our honeymoon. Lovely staff. Well designed, comfortable rooms. Nice fitness center and poo with roof terrace. Fantastic attention to detail throughout. You can tell that this hotel is part of a premium global hotel group. Would definitely recommend this hotel. One of the nicest hotels I have stayed in the US.

This is a fantastic hotel, wonderful rooms , very well decorated, they take care of all the details (for example they have Occitane products in the bathrooms), they have an excellent service. The hotel is very well located in the center of the historical district (close to the Market) The parking lot is very close. They have some shops in the lobby too.
