Belmond Charleston Place in Charleston, South Carolina

The South is known for its genteel hospitality, and Belmond Charleston Place is a prime example why. Understated service is ever-present. Under a 12-foot hand-blown Venetian chandelier, a grand open-arm staircase leads to rooms decorated in refined neutrals. Next door, an Art Deco theater restored by the hotel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and at the Charleston Grill nightly live jazz accompanies a AAA Four-Diamond dinner menu of gourmet Southern classics.

Step out onto your Juliet balcony to watch Charleston wake up. Wander through narrow cobblestoned streets, tripping across eclectic local boutiques and history markers dating from the Civil War. Take a picturesque countryside drive to America’s only tea plantation. After a soul-warming plate of buttery grits and shrimp, snuggle up in a horse-drawn carriage as it ambles on Southern time.

Beautiful hotel with spacious rooms. Bathroom was very bright and had lots of storage space. Never a lack of towels. The staff was always friendly and ready to help with reservations or tourist information. Would definitely recommend!

We recently travelled to charleston South Carolina. (March 17,2017) we stayed at the Belmond Hotel. It was amazing! The staff were very friendly and courteous and the hotel was so beautiful. The grand lobby staircase is reminiscent of Gone with the Wind! We rented a car and drove to Foley Beach. Nice easy drive and a rugged old school beach we walked around the downtown core and came across Hymans Seafood. OMG best Bloody Mary drink, and you must have the shrimp and grits apply with bacon and cheese!!!!!! Next door is an ice cream sandwich/pie filling shop. The only problem is deciding which ice cream to have. We also went to Magnolia plantation unfortunately we missed the blooms. There is an artisan market outside the hotel which is 3-4 blocks long great restaurants all over. I went on a horse drawn carriage ride and a walking tour both were worth it. Lots of history to say the least. If you have a chance to go to Charleston ...go and make sure you try the Pralines

Highly engaged staff. Roof top indoor/outdoor pool, and bar with a great view. Prompt room service and appropriately tempered Centrally located During our stay the trim in the hallways was refreshed with no scent of paint. I was impressed with this proactive maintenance as during the 3 preceding days there was no appearance to suggest any painting was needed

I had never visited Charleston and did not know what to expect, but was impressed by the city and the charm of this hotel. We were there for a corporate incentive trip and held business sessions there. The hotel is right in the middle of downtown located between King St (shops and restaurants) and Meeting St. It is about a mile from the waterfront and across from the Charleston Market. We are many meals here, including the steakhouse that is attached, and were very pleased. The only disappointment was that the fitness center did not open until 7 am on most days, where most hotels have 24 hour access. This hotel is rich in history and worth a stay. You can't beat the location.
