Belmond Charleston Place in Charleston, South Carolina

The South is known for its genteel hospitality, and Belmond Charleston Place is a prime example why. Understated service is ever-present. Under a 12-foot hand-blown Venetian chandelier, a grand open-arm staircase leads to rooms decorated in refined neutrals. Next door, an Art Deco theater restored by the hotel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and at the Charleston Grill nightly live jazz accompanies a AAA Four-Diamond dinner menu of gourmet Southern classics.

Step out onto your Juliet balcony to watch Charleston wake up. Wander through narrow cobblestoned streets, tripping across eclectic local boutiques and history markers dating from the Civil War. Take a picturesque countryside drive to America’s only tea plantation. After a soul-warming plate of buttery grits and shrimp, snuggle up in a horse-drawn carriage as it ambles on Southern time.

Beautiful hotel. Clean. Wonderful staff. They have safes in case you need them after checkout. I only ate at the lobby bar but food was very good and generous portions even though they were supposed to be Tapas size. My room was large and beautiful. I can't wait to go back. I have nothing negative to say except one time it took about 20 minutes for valet to get my car.

The Belmond is an upscale very beautiful hotel in downtown Charleston. It is immaculate with great amenities. Their pool is 4th fl, really gorgeous. Outdoor pool deck with bar, very lovely. The staff was wonderful and courteous and accommodated us for a late checkout, highly recommend this hotel!!

This is a nice hotel in a good location. There is nothing wrong with it, but also nothing memorable about it. Rooms are spacious, the lobby in comfortable, it's very clean, etc. but it doesn't have anything special about it.

they went above and beyond to make our stay with them special. The location is perfect for walking to see anything you could want to see. The concierge staff was great with advise on where to go and best place to eat.

This hotel has it all. The location is in the heart of Charleston. You can walk to the historic district, Bay Street, King Street (the shopping district), and the market is located right across the street. Numerous delicious restaurants are located in all directions. The hotel has a swimming pool with a retractable roof. You can go swimming rain or shine. The rooms have been recently remodeled and updated. The staff will help you with whatever you need. I could go on and on....but you need to experience it for yourself. It is gem. We will definitely be back for a stay.
