Belmond Charleston Place in Charleston, South Carolina

The South is known for its genteel hospitality, and Belmond Charleston Place is a prime example why. Understated service is ever-present. Under a 12-foot hand-blown Venetian chandelier, a grand open-arm staircase leads to rooms decorated in refined neutrals. Next door, an Art Deco theater restored by the hotel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and at the Charleston Grill nightly live jazz accompanies a AAA Four-Diamond dinner menu of gourmet Southern classics.

Step out onto your Juliet balcony to watch Charleston wake up. Wander through narrow cobblestoned streets, tripping across eclectic local boutiques and history markers dating from the Civil War. Take a picturesque countryside drive to America’s only tea plantation. After a soul-warming plate of buttery grits and shrimp, snuggle up in a horse-drawn carriage as it ambles on Southern time.

3 nites in this wonderful hotel - great staff and service! The food in the bar was excellent as was the live music - spa and pool also first class! The location is perfect and only less than ideal feature would be the city owned garage if you self park - huge cars seem very popular there! In terms of the hotel - no complaints!

This is the first time I've ever stayed at a hotel and felt like it was more of a home than my own home... the staff was like a full set of loving family members to care for me. The location near King Street and all its shopping is excellent. The Club floor (thanks for my friend who booked it having some great hook up) was delightful. Warm southern hospitality at its best. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

The Belmont is something special. As soon as you drive into the courtyard you know it’s going to be good. The lobby is spectacular(especially during the holidays). It’s alive with people. There is high end shopping right on the property. The bar/lounge has great food and drink. The rooms are elegant but not stuffy. It’s definitely a place to stay. It’s in a great location downtown that makes it easy to walk to different places too.

From the time we stepped in the hotel we felt like we were re-visiting old friends The welcome was warm and we were given the key/card to our room. We had a deluxe king on the 4th floor. The room was spacious and so pretty. We were going to spend a full week here and the size was appreciated As expected, the room was spotless. The evening "turn-down" brought us a bottle of water and some ice for the ice bucket. During the time we were there we saw that their was quite a bit of activity on the main level. The sound level in hallways was very low. The concierge was able to guide my wife to a very fine optical shop and the shop was able to take care of my wife's need. The daily cleaning of the room was done fairly quickly after we left the room. The exit was quick and again very cordial. This is a great location in Charleston.

Stayed here with family for graduation. Club floor was great for us to all handle breakfast at our own times and on site. Plenty of snacks and drinks later in the day. Great staff, very gracious. Excellent rooms and comfortable beds. Great location near everything downtown. Plenty of local dining options. Family used the pool a couple of times, very nice. Would definitely return and I am not easy to please, like things just so when traveling.
