Belmond Charleston Place in Charleston, South Carolina

The South is known for its genteel hospitality, and Belmond Charleston Place is a prime example why. Understated service is ever-present. Under a 12-foot hand-blown Venetian chandelier, a grand open-arm staircase leads to rooms decorated in refined neutrals. Next door, an Art Deco theater restored by the hotel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and at the Charleston Grill nightly live jazz accompanies a AAA Four-Diamond dinner menu of gourmet Southern classics.

Step out onto your Juliet balcony to watch Charleston wake up. Wander through narrow cobblestoned streets, tripping across eclectic local boutiques and history markers dating from the Civil War. Take a picturesque countryside drive to America’s only tea plantation. After a soul-warming plate of buttery grits and shrimp, snuggle up in a horse-drawn carriage as it ambles on Southern time.

My husband and I came here for a quick, childless getaway. I was so sad to leave. It's luxurious and the staff is very warm and inviting. The renovation was done with impeccable taste and the location is central to everything. My only tip would be that if it rains it would be nice to still be able to get a drink by the pool (it's summer and rain storms roll in frequently). I'd also love my stay to count towards their impending loyalty program. We'll definitely be back. Hopefully soon!

I highly recommend staying here in the club level. I think the hotel has the most/best amenities and is in the heart of Charleston. Hands down the best place to stay. We were planning on having breakfast out every day but the club level food was sooooo good we ended up staying in every morning. Room was refreshing and light, service was great.

The service is outstanding at this hotel. I would highly recommend reserving a room on the club level. Breakfast, afternoon snacks, nightly appetizer, cocktails and deserts are simply wonderful. The spa facial is one of the best I have experienced. It would be fantastic if the hotel offered a pillow top to go over the mattress for anyone who prefers a softer feel on a harder mattress.

Just got back from a long weekend stay at the Belmond. Hotel is located in the heart of the historical district of Charleston and within walking distance to most of the city attractions. Club level was outstanding and located on the 7th & 8th floor which includes alcohol. Pool was very nice which had a bar and food service. Hotel hosts many fine luxury shops such as Gucci and Louis Vuitton. We loved this hotel and we loved walking around the area. There are many restaurants and shops in the hotel area. Take a walk over to the market where you can find just about every souvenir imaginable. I would highly recommend Hymens restaurant which is about a 2 min walk on Meeting Street. Don't miss seeing Rainbow Row on East Bay St. So beautiful. Can't wait to return!

I was having mixed feeling because I read some reviews about the hotel having ongoing renovations. I'm so happy that I stayed with my two kids there. Hotel super clean, Room very modern, staff super friendly. If you stay in one of the executive floors, they will include breakfast, appetizers and alcohol on your fare :) I cannot wait to go back to enjoy a little more of this beautiful and charm hotel.
