Belmond Charleston Place in Charleston, South Carolina

The South is known for its genteel hospitality, and Belmond Charleston Place is a prime example why. Understated service is ever-present. Under a 12-foot hand-blown Venetian chandelier, a grand open-arm staircase leads to rooms decorated in refined neutrals. Next door, an Art Deco theater restored by the hotel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and at the Charleston Grill nightly live jazz accompanies a AAA Four-Diamond dinner menu of gourmet Southern classics.

Step out onto your Juliet balcony to watch Charleston wake up. Wander through narrow cobblestoned streets, tripping across eclectic local boutiques and history markers dating from the Civil War. Take a picturesque countryside drive to America’s only tea plantation. After a soul-warming plate of buttery grits and shrimp, snuggle up in a horse-drawn carriage as it ambles on Southern time.

Thoroughly enjoyed our 4 nights in this lovely property. The location is convenient for exploring the sights of the historic district. Easy walking to the Battery, Rainbow row, market, museums. Our room was large and very comfortable. The linens and amenities were generous and the service was excellent. The staff are professional and friendly. The breakfast buffet is very tasty. We also dined at the Charleston Grill which was outstanding. Definitely recommend.

My husband and I spent one night here prior to boarding our ship. I only regretted that we weren’t staying longer. The staff was very solicitous and helpful. The hotel is beautiful and perfectly situated to walk to the sites. The rooms were very clean and well appointed. The bed was soooo comfortable. The Belmond is the perfect choice if you want a luxurious stay.

I was here with a conference with my wife. Our Club level premier king room was lovely. The conference facilities were excellent. The true standout was THE CLUB! Beautiful breakfasts, snacks at midday, mid afternoon tea and gourmet sandwiches and sweets, an astounding evening assortment of foods--beef tenderloin, pork tenderloin, escargot, salmon, cheeses, and more. This will all first class with outstanding service. Likewise, desserts and after dinner drinks from about 8-10pm were also astounding. Wine, beer and champagne were free most of the day, and spirits in the evening. The value of the CLUB is tremendous. Get a club level room and await the service of Nick, Dan, and Jennifer!! TOP NOTCH!
