This is a magnificent old building set on beautiful grounds. We found most of the staff to be extremely helpful and friendly, which really helped to make our stay memorable. The food at breakfast and in the brasserie was very good, as was the service. We did not eat at the Beaufort Room. I have to echo what others have said. When you are advertised as 5 stars, expectations are high, and so is the level of critique. Two areas that fell short; 1) no senior customer service representative available at all times to make decisions when issues arise. We waited for 15 minutes for our car keys at the front desk while two separate billing issues were sorted out. This is embarrassing for the hotel and poor advertising to the other guests who witness this activity; 2) Attention to detail and specifically cleanliness. I assume that the hotel is at that stage where a general refresh is probably needed, Walls and carpets were not clean. This is an easy fix and none of this really took away from our experience, it's just something for management to address to keep the hotel at the expected/advertised level. I would recommend this hotel with expectations somewhat tempered.

We stayed in a room near the pool. The room was large and comfortable and the bathroom was equally huge. Great shower, too. Don't be put off by the fact that the pool is outdoors. It is kept wonderfully warm and I swam in the rain one morning, which was a new experience. The breakfasts are great. Everything is freshly cooked and the staff are attentive but not in the least stuffy. The hotel and grounds are very picturesque and every area is very well cared for. Overall, it's one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed in and we will certainly go back again.

I thoroughly enjoyed my last stay at the Ellenborough Park hotel and have in fact booked another stay for next month. Staff are accommodating, grounds are impressive and cuisine of a high standard. We stayed for 5 days and ate every meal at the Brasserie, Beaufort and in-room dining. We also booked several spa treatments each day. The reason I'm writing this review is to primarily recommend it to others but also to suggest extra attention to housekeeping. It was very difficult to schedule a time for them to come in and then when they did the cleaning was unsatisfactory. The only thing that separates this hotel from the Dorchester in London or the Paris Four Seasons is the cleanliness. Please improve this as I am highly anticipating our next stay. Thank you

Wonderful place, fabulous public rooms with a lot of character. Very comfortable bedrooms, but the toiletries are not as described on the web site. Lovely food in the main restaurant - although the side room leaves a lot to be desired, decor wise. Surely the staff must know this? Great breakfasts. The Brasserie is pleasant but quite expensive. In the Spa the hot tub will only take 4 people comfortably and there are only 2 seats. It really is too small for this class of hotel. Cannot comment on any spa treatments. The heated outside pool was a joy for the time of year, however I could not recommend a room near the pool in the summer, it may be very busy. Be ready to see folk wandering around in gown and slippers in the grounds. Helpful staff throughout. If you really want total 5 star luxury, although thoroughly enjoyable, this is not the place - I fear attention to detail is lacking, or may be there is not always enough staff.

This is a great hotel. Manor style, dates back to the 15th century. Traditional and with respect to history. The restaurant and brasserie are serving high quality food. The staff is great, good and friendly service. Rooms are very nice and all kept in the style of the architecture of the property and grounds.
