Shanti Maurice, A Nira Resort in Chemin Grenier, Mauritius

In a destination as dreamy as they come, Shanti Maurice, A Nira Resort makes the island of Mauritius even more enchanting. The property itself is 36 acres, situated between sugarcane fields and powder-soft white sand beach, with the brilliant blue waters of the Indian Ocean stretching as far as the eye can see. In a place as sublime and exotic as this, Shanti Maurice is a perfect haven, providing the kind of quality and comfort that such a spectacular vacation deserves. When it comes to your accommodations, there are no rooms here - only suites and villas, of course, and every one is magazine-spread worthy. All face the ocean, with floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding glass doors to bring the bright outdoors in. Furthering the integration with nature, large balconies or patios and stone-lined outdoor rain showers add elements of pleasure and ideal places to relax in peace and private. Despite your far-flung locale, you will be ever still connected with internet access, DVD players, and high definition televisions throughout. Whether you choose to shut off connection to the outside world, or relish in some free time and entertainment, Shanti Maurice is ready to help you do it all in style.

Ready to really delve into this exotic island vacation? Try a truly sensual experience at Nira Spa, where ancient Ayurvedic practices are fused with contemporary techniques to provide indulgent body treatments, ultra unwinding massages, and unique spa rituals. Being that Mauritius is such a paradise for the senses, it is only fitting that the culinary offerings at Shanti Maurice are one of the resort's most outstanding features. Food lovers will find a variety of unique flavors and aromas, but the true soul of Mauritius can best be found in the old fashioned home cooking, which Shanti Maurice brings you directly with its genuine Grandma's Kitchen experience. Relish in authentic mealtime around a communal table, as you have the opportunity to visit the local home of one of the resort's own team members, and enjoy an authentic family meal prepared for your enjoyment by the all-important matriarch of the household - Grandma herself. Then there is the Fish and Rhum Shack, a beachside barbecue experience that lends local culture to guests, where the freshest fish, vegetables, and more are enjoyed by lantern light, plus rum from a nearby distillery. A more traditional dining experience can be had at Stars, which offers a refined dinner menu and ocean views, and Pebbles, with everything from salads to pastries. The leisure and activity options at Shanti Maurice are equally robust, from the nearby golf course to tennis, water sports and more. Explore the island on an excursion, or simply stay put in the sun and sand. When you are at Shanti Maurice, A Nira Resort, time and place is all about you.

Where do I even begin? We went to Mauritius to recharge our sun-starving bodies and explore some of the island's magnificent nature by hiking. And fortunately for us, we picked Shanti Maurice Resort & Spa as our base for the entire 9 days. Everything about this place exudes "Paradise"! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by a friendly and helpfull staff who took excellent care of us and helped us to enjoy the resort and our holiday to the fullest. We immediately felt at home in our spacious and yet cozy Beach front suite, always kept clean and tidy by the nice house cleaners. On the beach, right in front of our suite, we spent many relaxing hours bathing, strolling in the white sand, sunbathing on our private sunbeds and enjoying a magnificent service from the boys at the beach bar! The Red Ginger Bar treated us before and after dinner with delicious cocktails and lovely live music and song. We dined at all four restaurants on the resort during our stay, and was thrilled by the healthy and various menus. We savoured all the fish, fruit and greens, and thus we could also enjoy the good wines and excellent local rhums with a clear conscience. The Star was the place to dine when wearing high heals and if you wanted the option of sitting inside. At The Rum Shed and the Fish Shack you could enjoy a delicious meal with your feet in the sand, gazing at the stars above and listening to soft reaggae tunes or live song and guitar play. Finally I must highlight the Spa! The highly skilled and very professional therapists there pampered us many many times with fantastic massage treatments. We also loved the gym facillities, the hatha yoga morning classes and the aqua gym. After 9 days in Paradise, we were ready to go home, recharged with energy, sun and nothing but great memories, and we hope to return soon for another dose of Shanti!

What a fantastic holiday. The hotel was in a beautiful location and it had all the facilities you could have wanted (spa, beautiful gardens, pool, beach). The staff were especially helpful and given the reasonable size of the hotel we were surprised to find that they knew us by name and also recalled things about our stay (such as dietary preferences, our room number etc) which made the experience much more personal. We couldn't name all the staff that assisted us but some of the most helpful were Melana, Mukesh, Akshay, Atish, Janine, Dilvesh, Kushal, Karishma and Akvesh. We did the cookery course during our stay and this was a really good experience. The food at the hotel was very good and there was a lot of variety even for vegetarians. They introduced a new 4 course set menu while we were there which we enjoyed multiple times. There was also access to a lot of activities such as snorkelling, kayaking etc all of which was included. We had a really good time and would not hesitate to visiting again or in recommending the place to anyone.

The Shanti Maurice is everything you expect in a five star resort. On check in your greeted with a welcome cocktail, informed about the fantastic facilities, shown to your accommodation which was spacious with a big wide window allowing you to look out at a balcony which includes a table, chairs and sun bed and the magnificent sea view. All the staff were very attentive, the food was delicious, the location was good, the surroundings were very well maintained and picturesque. And yet I didn’t give it a top rating! And the reason for that is because after noticing that everyone was walking around with a Shanti Maurice beach bag, a handy size bag to carry your book, camera & sunglasses in, I went back to our room to look for ours..I found the umbrella, hairdryer even a shoehorn, but no bag. We asked someone where they found their beach bag and they told us it was a complementary gift when they arrived. We stayed here for four days and watched and counted how many people had this “complementary” beach bag, we understand there are often different rooms and packages offered at resorts and I guess we were the only ones that had the “No beach bag package”

Shanti Maurice is the best place for you if you are willing to relax and feel the good vibes of Mauritius. It's located in the south part of the island, where we first thought it's too quiet. But in fact it's the most beautiful from all the parts, nice shore where you can view the sunset, wonderful people and lots of green around. The team in the resort was willing to help in everything, from room service 24 hours a day, through excellent restaurants (you pick to choose 4 different ones if you are in a half board), lots of new rich tastes, nice water activities and the most - they set up for us the best dinner we ever had - Romance under the stars. We thank you again, hope to visit again in the future with new babies. Liraz & Tomer Shahar.

We had an amazing time at Shanti Maurice together with our 9 months old daughter. The junior suite beachfront we had was great! Direct access to the beautifull beach and close to the swimming pool and other facilities. The room is very spacious with a huge bathroom and outside shower. Now about the food: it all was delicious!! There are 4 restaurants, you can have dinner where you want with almost no hidden fees (if you booked HB). We really enjoyed the main restaurant, where you can have a great Ă  la carte dinner with seaview (really try the pork belly and the tuna), but the rum shed was very nice too! The Spa is beautifull! The massage I had was really great, you should try one (we have been to several other 5* resort in Mauritius but the Spa was the best at Shanti). The staff is so friendly! Hospitality is the specialism of Shanti Maurice, you can really see that. I would especially like to thank Sasha, who was really helpfull with everything and also Vanil, he was superfriendly!
