Shanti Maurice, A Nira Resort in Chemin Grenier, Mauritius

In a destination as dreamy as they come, Shanti Maurice, A Nira Resort makes the island of Mauritius even more enchanting. The property itself is 36 acres, situated between sugarcane fields and powder-soft white sand beach, with the brilliant blue waters of the Indian Ocean stretching as far as the eye can see. In a place as sublime and exotic as this, Shanti Maurice is a perfect haven, providing the kind of quality and comfort that such a spectacular vacation deserves. When it comes to your accommodations, there are no rooms here - only suites and villas, of course, and every one is magazine-spread worthy. All face the ocean, with floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding glass doors to bring the bright outdoors in. Furthering the integration with nature, large balconies or patios and stone-lined outdoor rain showers add elements of pleasure and ideal places to relax in peace and private. Despite your far-flung locale, you will be ever still connected with internet access, DVD players, and high definition televisions throughout. Whether you choose to shut off connection to the outside world, or relish in some free time and entertainment, Shanti Maurice is ready to help you do it all in style.

Ready to really delve into this exotic island vacation? Try a truly sensual experience at Nira Spa, where ancient Ayurvedic practices are fused with contemporary techniques to provide indulgent body treatments, ultra unwinding massages, and unique spa rituals. Being that Mauritius is such a paradise for the senses, it is only fitting that the culinary offerings at Shanti Maurice are one of the resort's most outstanding features. Food lovers will find a variety of unique flavors and aromas, but the true soul of Mauritius can best be found in the old fashioned home cooking, which Shanti Maurice brings you directly with its genuine Grandma's Kitchen experience. Relish in authentic mealtime around a communal table, as you have the opportunity to visit the local home of one of the resort's own team members, and enjoy an authentic family meal prepared for your enjoyment by the all-important matriarch of the household - Grandma herself. Then there is the Fish and Rhum Shack, a beachside barbecue experience that lends local culture to guests, where the freshest fish, vegetables, and more are enjoyed by lantern light, plus rum from a nearby distillery. A more traditional dining experience can be had at Stars, which offers a refined dinner menu and ocean views, and Pebbles, with everything from salads to pastries. The leisure and activity options at Shanti Maurice are equally robust, from the nearby golf course to tennis, water sports and more. Explore the island on an excursion, or simply stay put in the sun and sand. When you are at Shanti Maurice, A Nira Resort, time and place is all about you.

Where do I even begin?! Amazing! Incredible, secluded resort on the south coast, clear, crystal blue water, white sandy beaches and beautiful mountainous backdrop! Also loved the look and feel of the junior suites with direct access to the beach. Friendly reception and housekeeping staff. Was also taken a back by the honesty of the housekeeping staff. I left my safe open and was immediately contacted by the hotel manager to let me know that the housekeeping staff found my safe open. Excellent spa and swimming pools. On the downside, service at the beach is very slow, the attendants aren't paying attention to guests. Also the wifi connection isn't too strong. There was some renovation work going on and the noise was distracting especially in the morning!

This is a really fantastic hotel but also with a very special team. Just to remark some things like location, house keeping, restaurants, the spa... I have no words to describe how excellent it is. We performed our wedding and have an unforgettable stay. Thanks to Anuradha and all the hotel staff, we'll be back sure

Stayed there for the weekend, amazing hotel! The hotel is a 5 star plus! Clean rooms with great sea view, wide gardens for nature lovers and very peaceful place for couples. Breakfast was perfect. We had dinner at the Rhumshed, something not to be missed. Thanks to Melana and team...

Shanti oozes luxury with its rich decor and earthy tones. We loved our marble-clad Junior Suite. The bathroom was huge! I enjoyed a candle lit bath every evening and the bed was the comfiest I've ever slept on. The ocean view balcony was a great size too. I appreciated being able to burn citronella and cinnamon incense cones in the room (some hotels do not allow it due it setting off their smoke alarms!) as it's a good deterrent to the mosquitoes. The Nespresso machine was a great touch. I loved the jacuzzi section of the pool (it's warmer than the main section) and its view of the sea. Drinks were delicious, breakfast was great, lunch and dinner were a little hit and miss. Lunch was, for the most part, very expensive, and I advise avoiding things like pizzas and burgers as these were not good. But the vegetable kathi roll was delicious! I'd have appreciated more lunch options in this price range. The à la carte menu at Stars was huge and that makes me wonder how much of it is cooked fresh and homemade, but our evening meal was admittedly very tasty. The themed buffets held at this restaurant were good but not exceptional. We loved our dinners at the Fish Shack (BBQ on the beach) and the Herb Garden (curry night). They were very atmospheric and the food was great. Service was faultless. My husband was very impressed with the gym. The grounds were great for walking – especially along the beach at sunset. We loved playing Scrabble in the bar on a very rainy day. And being able to use the Spa facilities after check-out on our day of leaving was much appreciated. Thank you to the team for a great stay at a beautiful hotel.

I have stayed in several resorts all over the world but this one truly stands in terms of its beauty and location and above all its hospitality. I just can’t thank enough Mr Riene( who was very kind and polite in organising evrything for our stay ) , Mr Gregory and Mr Deepak who all made sure that our stay was excellent one. i also want thank Mr Daniel who was the tennis coach and kept my son busy all throughout. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the Spa and want to thank Mr Deepak for that in terms of organizing everything excellently. What stands out is excellent food we got there. It is easily the best India food i have had outside India. Mr Gregory was very helpful in organizing everything very well. The location of the hotel is in south of Mauritius ..near the beach and with lots of activities for the children. EXCELLENT RESORT ……HIGHLY RECOMMENDED…..:)
