Shanti Maurice, A Nira Resort in Chemin Grenier, Mauritius

In a destination as dreamy as they come, Shanti Maurice, A Nira Resort makes the island of Mauritius even more enchanting. The property itself is 36 acres, situated between sugarcane fields and powder-soft white sand beach, with the brilliant blue waters of the Indian Ocean stretching as far as the eye can see. In a place as sublime and exotic as this, Shanti Maurice is a perfect haven, providing the kind of quality and comfort that such a spectacular vacation deserves. When it comes to your accommodations, there are no rooms here - only suites and villas, of course, and every one is magazine-spread worthy. All face the ocean, with floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding glass doors to bring the bright outdoors in. Furthering the integration with nature, large balconies or patios and stone-lined outdoor rain showers add elements of pleasure and ideal places to relax in peace and private. Despite your far-flung locale, you will be ever still connected with internet access, DVD players, and high definition televisions throughout. Whether you choose to shut off connection to the outside world, or relish in some free time and entertainment, Shanti Maurice is ready to help you do it all in style.

Ready to really delve into this exotic island vacation? Try a truly sensual experience at Nira Spa, where ancient Ayurvedic practices are fused with contemporary techniques to provide indulgent body treatments, ultra unwinding massages, and unique spa rituals. Being that Mauritius is such a paradise for the senses, it is only fitting that the culinary offerings at Shanti Maurice are one of the resort's most outstanding features. Food lovers will find a variety of unique flavors and aromas, but the true soul of Mauritius can best be found in the old fashioned home cooking, which Shanti Maurice brings you directly with its genuine Grandma's Kitchen experience. Relish in authentic mealtime around a communal table, as you have the opportunity to visit the local home of one of the resort's own team members, and enjoy an authentic family meal prepared for your enjoyment by the all-important matriarch of the household - Grandma herself. Then there is the Fish and Rhum Shack, a beachside barbecue experience that lends local culture to guests, where the freshest fish, vegetables, and more are enjoyed by lantern light, plus rum from a nearby distillery. A more traditional dining experience can be had at Stars, which offers a refined dinner menu and ocean views, and Pebbles, with everything from salads to pastries. The leisure and activity options at Shanti Maurice are equally robust, from the nearby golf course to tennis, water sports and more. Explore the island on an excursion, or simply stay put in the sun and sand. When you are at Shanti Maurice, A Nira Resort, time and place is all about you.

If you ever thought of a perfect dream holiday in paradise the Shanti Maurice won't disappoint From our arrival we were treated like VIP's by every single member of staff. Let me start with the hotel. From the beautiful and stylish reception to your room, you will experience open spaces with beautiful wooden touches. A beautiful smell lingers all through the hotel. Our rooms was beautiful and very very spacious. The bathroom massive, have never seen a bathroom so big in any hotel we've stayed in. The outdoor shower a extra treat with both hot and cold water. Nice extras like a Nespresso coffee machine and a choice of three different coffee pods makes your start of the day so much nicer. The room also features a well stocked mini bar. When you stay in a ground level room you have privacy screens so passers by don't disturb you. A few steps and you on the beach. The restaurants are just amazing. For breakfast you have a great variety to pick from, the personal at Stars always friendly and available to assist you. Here I want to mention a few people by name. Jean-Francois thank you for helping us with a very special food and wine pairing we have learned some really interesting things about wine appreciation from you. Bryan with your welcoming smile you always made our day a bit more cheerful, and thank you for all the plates you carried to our table. The Rum Shed oh my word where to start. This is something you really need to experience to understand. Absolutely amazing food, awesome rum cocktails (think we had every single one on the menue and a few that was created for us) the prawns and lobster divine, but my favourite was the pork ribs( Chef Vicky very graciously gave us a copy of the recipe) and the wasabi prawns starter was also a firm favorite. Here Aveesh was without the star of the show. Aveesh thank you for really amazing memories we made at the Rum Shed we really appreciate all your efforts to make us feel special. La Kaze Mama with its herb garden a really nice evening under the stars. The guys at the boathouse........ you really gave us so much fun, for all the beach beds you carried around for us thank you, and for all the jokes and laughter on the paddle boards, golden memories. You guys rock A special thank you to Priya, you have really made our stay so special, all our chats through the day every day, and your and Andrews bets on the weather, we will never forget it. You made us feel like celebrities, thank you for all the personal attention and all the time you devoted to us. The spa is really a very special place, beautiful from entrance to swimming pools, the rock jacuzzi, wonderful treatment rooms, spectacular dressing rooms and excellent therapists. Thank you to everyone at the spa, we loved visiting you. Thank you to the team at the Shanti you guys are really a dream team, keep up the good work. Congratulations on your TripAdvisor Award. Very well deserved

We spent a week at Shanti Maurice and will not forget the experience for a long time, such was the excellent time we enjoyed. The hotel, we were informed on arrival, prides itself on its food and spa massages, and it can be rightly proud of both, but in addition the friendliness, efficiency and ‘can do’ attitude of the staff were noticeable. The food in the main restaurant, Stars, was of exceptional quality, and we spent enjoyable evenings at both The Rum Shed and Kaza Mama. Due to a combination of circumstances, our evening at the Fish Shack was a disappointment (my wife’s comment: ‘Even the Ocean has gone to bed’), but I discussed the matter with the Guest Relation Manager and the Food and Beverage Manager and I hope our own experience is a ‘one off’, because the basic concept of a BBQ on the beach is very sound. We occupied a beach front suite which was very pleasant (but why, oh why, do so many hotels’ air conditioning do what it wants, rather than what the guest wants?). The service on the beach, from towel provision to refreshments, was exceptional. I highly recommend this hotel.

We had a wonderful stay at the resort. Not sure what impressed us more, the amazing location or the perfect service. The location is beatiful. You have different restaurants, spa-areas, a gym, swimming pools, a herb garden, a private beach and many more places. Our apartment was luxurious, comfortable and had a perfect view to the beach. We had 3 massages and they were absolutly relaxing. The food was rich in variety and very delicous. You have to try the lobster! The staff is very friendly but still professional. Everyone does everything to make YOU happy...no matter if it is the kind receptionist or the lifeguards from the beach. All in all it was a perfect stay and we just fell in love with maurice. We want to give thanks to the staff who made maurice unforgettable!

My wife and I stayed at the Shanti Maurice for a week. It was the perfect vacation for the both of us. The food - there are four available restaurants and each of them provides a unique experience. There’s the main restaurant with international a la carte and an occasional buffet; A bar and grill by the fire; Mauritian cuisine; and a sea food restaurant. All of them are of superb quality and with generous dishes. The staff - everyone we came across there was extremely friendly and helpful. We couldn’t ask for anything more. The swimming pools and the beach look amazing. You can see dozens of workers everyday in the gardens making sure that everything looks at its best. We’ll definitely return there.

Was recommended this hotel by Audley Travel as we wanted a quieter part of the island. Absolutely great choice......the hotel has a dedicated workforce, that ensures your stay is made special. It has a stunning location, with its private beach, but other lovely beaches are just a short walk away. We were upgraded on arrival to a ground floor beachfront room, for which we were very grateful, these rooms are very well presented, and it was great walking the few yards down to the shoreline with a beer! They have both and indoor and outdoor shower, fridge and huge bed, from which you can enjoy the waves breaking over the reef. There are 4 restaurants, 3 of which are themed. The speciality evenings gives you a chance to taste local cuisine, we were amazed at the consistent quality of the food. The surf and turf served in Stars restaurant is without doubt, the best steak I have had in a long time. We didn't do the beach front BBQ...as there is a surcharge, which we thought a little expensive, because lobster is served, and would have thought it best to apply the surcharge only if Lobster was taken. The hotel has all the facilities possible, health spa several swimming pools, jacuzzi, sauna etc The beachfront setting is just wonderful, and on the first day were lucky to see a couple of whales just off the far side of the reef... The hotel is very well situated about 35 mins from the airport on the south coast, and is very close to many of the top Tripadviser things to see in Mauritius. Can certainly recommend the trek up La Morne, which gives spectacular views over the reef. We would certainly come back to this hotel if we can persuade the Aussies to meet us halfway from England... We would like to thank all the staff at the hotel for being so friendly and attentive, but not over bearing....well done to the Shanti Maurice team!!
