We know that Thailand is known as The Land of Smiles, but this is particularly true for 137 Pillars House. Not only are the rooms and facilities beautiful and impeccably clean, but the real joy of staying here comes with the nicest most professional staff. Our butler Toto helped us out with service that was always timely and effective. For instance, one day after a hike on the mountains, Toto noticed our shoes were really dirty and offered to clean them up. An hour later, our shoes were at our door looking brand new. The restaurant is excellent. Whether it was a fresh breakfast, a delightful afternoon tea, or a romantic dinner, we were never disappointed. In conclusion, we were sad to leave 137 Pillars, and that is always the best sign of outstanding hospitality.

We spent 3 nights and 4 blissful days at 137 and loved EVERY SECOND! The Rajah Brooke Suite was lovely, the staff is attentive but not annoying, the grounds are superb and kept up extremely well, the bar is excellent (great selection - great bartenders - you can get a proper cocktail here!), the breakfast is absolutely delicious (everything from eggs on demand to dumplings to pad thai to make your own juices! Don’t miss the passionfruit jelly!). You are assigned a butler - we had Toto who was WONDERFUL. Thank God for the age of the Internet - we texted, he made us reservations, checked in on us etc but was completely unobtrusive. He is WONDERFUL! (re: tipping - we did bc he was excellent. 1000 baht for a 3 night stay. no expectation - just wanted to say an extra thank you. We also tipped housekeeping). The food at the restaurant is quite good - we had one excellent meal and one so so meal. Think American big city style prices but not completely outrageous (we are from SF so used to $13 sandwiches and $20+ entrees. It didn’t feel excessive like other places we’ve stayed abroad). We had 2 big dinners, MANY drinks by the pool and in the bar, a bottle of wine or two and spent about $600 in 4 days getting WHATEVER we wanted. No expectation you’d do it that way though. They are super accommodating for all. They do a happy hour from 5-7 (great touch) and the staff are all amazing. Decor is very tasteful, sumptuous but not formal or overdone. GO HONEYMOONERS! Make it your splurge. We are so happy we did!!! It is worth it!!

137 Pillars is a beautiful, excellently maintained property. Service is mostly top notch, the rooms are well appointed and comfortable, with their own generous balconies, indoor & outdoor showers and very comfortable beds. Besides all of that, it is the peaceful atmosphere and the feeling of total seclusion from the outside world that makes 137 my favourite place to stay. The heated pool comes in handy during the colder times of the year. Don’t forget to have cocktails at the little bar, which is as comfortable as it is cosy and the barmen really do know their stuff. The same can unfortunately not be said if the chefs. Breakfast is nice enough and the selection is excellent, but dinner at the Thai restaurant (didn’t try the western one) is unfortunately really disappointing. Although not inedible, it just falls completely flat. Som tum that makes you want to give up after two spoonful, a tempeh, a fermented soya bean cake that when properly fried can give chips a run for their money was limp and boring and the pork curry was only good after we squeezed all the kaffir lime into it (maybe we were supposed to?). But then, there is so much good food to be had outside that this small setback should in no way deter you from staying here!

Ate here to celebrate my birthday, my husband arranged everything and it was a beautiful, special, evening. We love Thai food and the waiter helped us select an amazing array of the finest choices, the sea bass soup, pomello and soft shell crab salad, pork curry and red snapper did not disappoint.

Last week a group of us (14) went for dinner at 137 Pillars restaurant. We were sadly disappointed with the overall experience. I would have given 1 star, only because we knew that the waiter (I forgot his name) tried his best to provide us with his best service, that I decide to add an addition star. For what we paid and what 137 Pillars brand’s itself to be, we were VERY shocked with the kind of food that they served us. Being a big group, we ordered many different items to share. To say the least the prawns were not fresh and the lamb was actually still frozen. Of course the ambience of the place is nice, and probably it would have been better for us to have lunch to see the grounds better. But given the standard of the food and what it cost, I am not sure I would want to even recommend or return to try the place again.
