We arrived with high expectations to this hotel, due also to the brilliant reviews, but, to be honest, it took me two days to sync with the vibe of the place. I have to confess, I am more a famous-name-international-chain person, so at the beginning I was feeling things to be a little bit downsized. Slowly by slowly I learned how to appreciate the care of each and any detail the property of this place seems to have searched, the perfectly renovated suites but with that classic touch, the old central building with the restaurants in perfect Thai style, and above all the relaxed pace. The "danger" of the place lied for me in the fact I felt at times out of the reality: in this enclave, reading a book or relaxing in any other way, you could lift your eyes up, and feel you could be everywhere (given the Asian setting) or anytime, and not just a few steps from Chiang Mai bustling centre. As for the breakfast, it left us no wishes left, with a good selection of fresh fruit and fruit juices (as it has to be in Thailand) and some healthy and not-so healthy goods from both the Western and the Eastern side of the world. So, how to say? As we left in a rainy morning, what started as an "it's ok" first feeling ended being a feeling of thankfullness for having being pampered so well, of regret for leaving, of hope fo being able, maybe one day, to come back.

I spend a fair amount of time in luxury hotels and I have an eye for detail, I can be a difficult guest. Try as I may, I would have great difficulty in finding fault in the 137. Service is impeccable the staff attentive and well trained, and their English manager is a true professional, extremely attentive to the needs of the guests, Yes, the rooms are lovely, the grounds very nice, and they manage to maintain an isolated resort ambiance just 5 minutes from town...but the other reviewers have already discussed that. I ppwe found their attention to detail admirable!

We spent 3 nights at 137 Pillars and enjoyed it immensely. The hotel is like a private compound of peace and quiet away from the hustle of Chiang Mai, which is only a short tuk tuk ride away. The rooms are lovely, with comfortable bedding, luxurious bathroom with indoor and outdoor showers, and a spacious lanai looking out on the grounds. The bar and dining is in the central 137 Pillars house, which feels like a step back in time. Enjoy a cocktail in this beautiful spot, and make time to eat dinner on property at least once as the food and service are both excellent with choices of Thai and western cuisines.

We loved our oasis of calm in Chiang Mai. The rooms were lovely and had separate dressing room, shower and tub with an outside shower. The breakfast every morning was delicious with lots of choice. A quick Tuk Tuk ride and you are in the middle of things in Chiang Mai. The staff were very friendly and I particularly enjoyed the evening stories left on the pillow. Would definitely try to come back to this area and stay here.

The bar at 137 pillars is a must if staying in chiang Mai ...this is the original house of the son of Anna ..from the story "Anna and the king"/ "the king and I"...the Moscow mule is to die for and so is the signature drink...for a romantic date ..this is a must!!
