My husband and I stayed at The 137 for 5 nights. It was recommended by our travel agent and did not disappoint in anyway, in fact was just about perfect. Our room/ suite was huge, elegant, impeccably clean and lovely and cool. The choice of indoors and outdoor showers was lovely. The hotel surroundings are gorgeous and you really wouldn't believe you were in the middle of a city. Our butler Toto was extremely helpful Even if we didn't make a lot of use of him. His restaurant recommendations were all very good. The food at breakfast was delicious with a huge array of Asian/ European goods to satisfy any taste. We ate in the restaurant twice at evening time, both meals were stunning and very good value for this type of hotel. The pool was blissful with its own 'rain shower.' Our only slight criticism is no fault of the hotel but when we were there both a group of six and then on a separate occasion a family of eight took all the sun loungers- selfish I thought! I rarely return anyway holiday, there is too much of the world to see, however without hesitation I can say that I would happily return to the 137 !

This place is incredible. For work, I travel all around the globe and this is one of the nicest places I have stayed. With the 150 year old building (breakfast and bar) to the pool to the rooms, this place is fantastic. Furthermore, the people that work there are extremely friendly and helpful. We didn't do the spa since it is more expensive than what you can get on the street but it looked nice. The breakfast is also out of this world and includes almost everything that you can ask for. The only knock that I have is the location. Its not right in the center of the city but its right across the river and therefore in a fairly quiet part and easily accessible to most parts however, you will probably have to take a tuk tuk to most markets or sites. Overall, I would recommend this hotel to everyone who visits Chaing Mai.

This hotel was beautiful, but maybe I expected more based on all the reviews and it's rankings on many well know travel sights, but it was a little disappointing. Especially when every hotel in the region seems to offer exemplary service, this didn't standout for me as I expected it to. The Butler gave me restaurant recommendations were fine, but nothing unexpected and just sent me to trip advisor reviews. Everyone was very friendly and helpful, but I didn't get much in terms of what everyone else has raved about, in fact at times I felt a little ignored, maybe bc I was a solo traveler and they cater to the couple. I'm not really sure, or my expectations were too high. It just didn't seem anything special, above and beyond any where else I stayed. I'm not sure it's worth the extra expense. They did make a great old fashioned in the bar!

137 Pillars House lives up to its reputation as one of the best hotels in Thailand. The location a little outside makes it a wonderful oasis. A short tuk tuk ride to anywhere. The butler took care of recommendations and reservations. I loved walking from my bungalow to the teak pillars house for a delicious breakfast. You get to pick out what scent you want for your bath amenities. I chose Jasmine while my husband chose lemon grass. They were waiting for us in the outdoor shower. There even was a wonderful scented bug spray for your personal use. This is a lovely boutique hotel to return to at the end of a hot, busy day in Chiang Mai.

This gorgeous historical Boutique Hotel is the most beautiful get away from the hustle of Bangkok and any city life. It is set in beautiful grounds. The food is delicious and interesting. The hospitality is top notch with the gentleness of the Thai culture. The pool is in the best garden surroundings and a perfect size with out being too large. The separate villa like rooms are private and peaceful, with beautiful large bathrooms. This is just the most perfect resort with the utmost attention to detail. There is no need to go anywhere else except to walk around to the nearby Bakery and boutiques in the neighbourhood. The history of the main building is amazingly interesting which you must go and find out about, all connected to Anna from 'The King of Siam". I can't wait to go back !
