We spent four nights at 137 Pillars and thoroughly enjoyed it. Toto was our Butler, and he made himself useful in many ways. In part it was helpful to have him as an intermediary with other staff who were less fluent in English. The room was reminiscent of a more elegant era, with the large four-poster bed, and elaborate dressing and bathing area. The service was excellent, and we especially enjoyed the turn-down service with the elaborate rearranging that they performed, as well as the cookies and bedtime “stories.” We had several meals in the restaurant, all quite good. In all, would recommend this for a relaxing, pampering experience.

We enjoyed a three night stay here in a Rajah Brooke Suite at the end of Jan 2018. The hotel is calm, quiet and beautiful. The heated pool was fantastic. A welcome oasis in the centre of busy Chiang Mai. Our room was very comfortable and spacious with an excellent, huge balcony. The service was first-class: friendly and enthusiastic, with the “butler” service being particularly efficient. The breakfasts are good and the evening meal choice (Thai or Western) is also good, without the standard of cuisine really matching the quality of the accommodation. A couple of gripes: the air conditioning in the restaurants was far too cold – sweaters required! Also, the musak (mood music in public areas) was dreadful: too loud and too grating – the worst kind of western pap (sic). However, these minor quibbles did not detract from our total enjoyment of our stay. Recommended.

Beautiful property. About 30 suites total all with large balconies. Rooms are very comfortable and well appointed bathrooms. Breakfast buffet has many choices and dinner at Palette Restaurant was excellent. Grounds have tented seating areas overlooking the terrace (we saw a wedding there one night). Excellent and friendly service. Very peaceful given it's close proximity to central Chiang Mai, HIghly recommend

I am not sure what value another 5 star review would add to someone researching for a place to stay, stop wasting your time and just book this great resort hotel. The grounds are beautifully designed, the suites thoughtfully constructed around luxury and comfort. Incredibly comfortable beds, luxurious bathrooms and dressing rooms, beautiful outdoor terraces, etc etc. The butler service was of very high quality and our butler was messaging with my wife and she helped us book dinners, massages and gave other recommendations. On site food options were very good, there's a nice lounge relaxation area to have a quiet drink in the old renovated house. The transfers are reasonably priced unlike many luxury hotels. Every service member is a courteous professional. Whenever we are back to Chiang Mai we we will be back to 137PH.

137 Pillars House is one of those rare and wonderful establishments that gets everything right. The grounds, facilities, and rooms are exquisite; restaurants and bar exceptional; and the service is refined, warm, and ever-attentive. We recently had the pleasure of staying for two nights, utilizing the breakfast service, happy hour, pool, fitness center, and dining in their Thai restaurant (they also have a Western restaurant). Our room was a large suite, with king bed, large walk-in closet, Victorian tub, indoor shower, private outdoor shower, and large outdoor sitting area. The appointments were elegant, clean, and exceedingly comfortable. The pool area features a towering "green wall" -- an enormous vertical structure completely covered with live plants, creating an incredible sense of serenity; great for sunbathing or a relaxing swim. But perhaps the most enjoyable aspect of this fine hotel is the quality of service. From the moment one arrives, every effort is made to ensure comfort, ease, and that all needs are met. They assign you a private butler! -- ours was named Pui, and she was a marvel. If you are slightly intimidated by the idea of having a butler -- we were at first -- set that aside. Within moments Pui made us feel very much at ease, entering her cell number into our phone, and imploring us to let her know of any question or need we might have. We benefited repeatedly by her services -- she helped us with restaurant ideas, directions to shopping and the Night Market, questions about our room, and even set up a Thai haircut appointment for us. When one is in an unfamiliar place -- particularly a city that feels pretty foreign to Americans new to Thailand -- such a service is truly invaluable. We don't know how many other guests she was serving, but she made us feel that we were her only concern during our visit. Pui is simply the best! As is this wonderful hotel. We can't recommend it highly enough!
