We were looking for an outstanding hotel for next visit. This hotel comes with classic design in the heart of old capital but peaceful environment. A mid age man from reception who escorted us to the lounge has a great service mind. Still, another ones ought to pay more attention on their guests to define more "luxury hotel" We went this hotel for afternoon tea which turned out to be a huge disappointment. Firstly, we had been waiting unreasonably for our 2 sets of tea more than 15 mins! And all of them has been baked for awhile before serving to us for sure. Second was staff have no idea what they are serving to the guest even the name. The main disappointment was the price we paid wasn't worth what we've got. The price is almost same as another BETTER hotel's afternoon tea in Bangkok which is we always willing to pay for...

The hotel is in a great location within walking distance of many markets and restaurants. The main house (137 Pillars) is very unique and impressive. The feeling in the building's bar, library and restaurants is very relaxing. With only (I think) 30 rooms it is never crowded anywhere in the resort other than my comment below. Our butler Pui was very helpful and always available. The rooms are nice but fairly basic other than the bathrooms with outdoor shower which was great. If I ever go back I will ask for a room on the 2nd level (there are only two levels) for more privacy in the outdoor sitting area. I would also ask for a room away from the reception and spa area. Our room (#5) was ground floor right in front of the reception and spa so we never used the outside sitting area which had a bit too much foot traffic for our liking. We used Smiling Albino as our guide in Thailand and they were great.

This is a lovely property with high end finishes and an ideal location within walking distance to most of what you'd like to see. A few things to note: This is not a sprawling resort… It is more of an enclave composed of beautifully designed two story "Villa "style buildings. The manicured grounds are very lush but not sprawling. Although the hotel designates the rooms as "suites", they are, in fact, not traditional "suites ". They are composed primarily of an elegant good size bedroom (with an extremely comfortable bed) huge bathroom and an outdoor terrace which serves as the "living room"....which would normally be part of a traditional suite. (The terrace is difficult to use at night because of mosquitoes.) The first tier service, front desk, reception, is extraordinary. A few of the second tier personnel, (waiters etc) could be a bit more overtly pleasant. The Butler service , which in many hotels is used more as a gimmick, is key here. Our Butler went above and beyond with every request we could make. He was totally present and thorough and charming beyond what we would have ever expected. Excellent. Finally, it should be noted that many of the rooms are stacked on top of one another and look directly across into other balconies. The photos on the website would suggest expansive views---but this is not the case. (The higher priced rooms do in fact overlook a large courtyard.) All and all a beautifully designed luxe property, with excellent service and great food.

Comfortable room with balcony - large bathroom - with bath andTWO showers one inside one outside, and very private! Our butler Pui was very professional, she quickly and efficiently arranged for anything we requested. Perfect service. Relaxing pool to swim in, surrounded by areas of tropical green plants and trees.
