Family Getaway – Loved Playing Tourist in Our Hometown!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 21 hours ago

We had a fantastic family weekend at the Four Seasons Chicago with our 6- and 7-year-old. As former Chicagoans who no longer live in the city, it was the absolute perfect home base for us to play tourists for a few days. From the start, the staff made us feel so welcome. They went above and beyond with special treats and thoughtful gifts for the kids, which set the tone for the entire stay. Our suite—featuring a separate bedroom and family room—was the ideal layout for a family of four. The views from the 44th floor were incredible. We even had some unexpected summer storms roll through, and the kids were mesmerized watching them sweep across the city from our windows. Throughout the weekend, we took full advantage of the amenities. The pool was a huge hit with the kids, and we thoroughly enjoyed the bar and restaurant on-site. The location simply can’t be beat: easy access to shopping, the museums, and catching a game at Wrigley. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay and will definitely be back!

Mixed Bag at the Four Seasons Chicago

Had a few hotels in mind for our trip to Chicago and left the Four Seasons not sure if I made the right choice. Starting with the good. Great location. The hotel is right off of the Mag Mile, so lots of shopping and dining near by. Easy location to navigate and walk and enjoy all the things near by. We booked the Lakeview executive suite and the room was spacious, clean with a nice view of the lake. All of the staff that we encountered were friendly, welcoming and pleasant (even with some of the arrival hiccups, I will mention later). Even before my stay, back and forth with the concierge was great. Responsive and quick to answer my questions and request. We only ate breakfast at the hotel but enjoyed the breakfast at both Adorn restaurant and room service. And again, great and friendly staff at the restaurant. Now the not so good that left me disappointed We checked in early understanding that we were probably too early to get our room, no issue there. Unfortunately, the front desk agent couldn’t find our reservation. Pulled up confirmation email (including an email that was sent from the FS two days before asking me to confirm arrival details) and after the review, informed me our reservation is actually for the next weekend. We booked via a Travel Advisor and the staff indicated we or our TA must’ve changed our reservation. (Yep, we changed and decided to still fly to Chicago for the weekend- sarcasm). Again, still early for check-in but we checked bags while they figured it out and I contacted our TA, who then provided all of her communications with them. We were able to get our booked room, near normal check-in time, but I had to call up for the amenities I requested months before and never did receive the welcome amenity and note from our travel advisor. Completely missed on making this memorable as requested in pre arrival and via travel advisor. Additionally, rooms could use a slight facelift and although the breakfast was tasty it was pricey for what we ordered. The reason for not being totally frustrated with them, was the morning after check-in we had someone from guest experiences approach us at breakfast and was very apologetic. She mentioned it was a mistake on their team’s end and offered us tickets to the museum (we had already bought them) or something to make it right. They got the house car to take us to dinner. I appreciated the gesture. There are lots of different options in Chicago and the initial disappointment stuck with me. Would check out another hotel when we return to Chicago.

Wouldn't stay anywhere else in the city of Chicago. The staff, the accommodations, and everything in between from top to bottom is an enjoyable experience.

Location couldn't be better!

This is a great location in the Miracle Mile area. Shopping, restaurants and Ubers come quick. Everyone that works there is super nice. Margarita, our server for breakfast, kindly pointed out the gluten free options and provided Four Seasons level service. But.. the hotel seems dated which could just be a Chicago thing. Room is just ok.. housekeeping did a nice job though! Bathroom is small and again dated. Gym is ok... kind of small and no stairclimber. The lobby/bar/restaurant is kind of funky. I feel like they could really update it to something cool. Great views from the room and Chicago has a cool vibe which the hotel is a part of with that location!
