Five-Star Stay from Start to Finish

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

A true five-star experience. The staff are warm, friendly, and incredibly attentive--everyone makes you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. The rooms are exceptionally comfortable, and the mattress alone is worth mentioning. We ate breakfast and dinner in the hotel restaurant and also ordered room service, and every meal was excellent. A wonderful stay from start to finish.

Genuine warmth and luxury

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

We were touched by a beautiful presentation of fresh berries, artisan chocolates, chocolate cake, and macaroons after mentioning that it was a Valentine’s holiday. Laith, at reception, went out of his way to accommodate and personally assist throughout our stay with warm professionalism. Margarita and staff, were so pleasant, it made us want to linger at breakfast for longer than usual.

Amazing experiences at The Four Season Chicago

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

My husband and I stay at The Four Seasons in downtown Chicago approximately 4 times a year. We have never been disappointed, only extremely impressed each time. It starts with the warm and efficient welcome at the valet, the front desk welcoming us back and remembering us. The common areas are gorgeous, even the hallways, and the rooms are beautifully decorated, and also immaculately clean. And the views are spectacular. We would never stay anywhere else downtown. We always look forward to our visits. Well done Four Seasons!

Nice stay but could have been better

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

We stayed at Four Seasons Hotel Chicago the week before Christmas for a one-night stay, booking through a credit card luxury program that included a room upgrade (if available), resort credit, complimentary breakfast, and a welcome amenity. At check-in, we were told an upgraded room would be available, but not until around 9 p.m. Since we were traveling with our one-year-old, waiting five hours wasn’t realistic, so we accepted the king lake-view room that we reserved. What was disappointing, however, was that very little information was provided about the benefits included in our booking. Breakfast was briefly mentioned, but there was no walkthrough of the resort credit, welcome amenity, or other inclusions. Later that evening, after reviewing the paperwork ourselves, we noticed it mentioned a welcome amenity , which had not been delivered. When we asked the front desk, they apologized and promptly sent up a beautiful fruit plate and bottled water, which we appreciated. Still, it would have been nicer if this had been proactively handled or explained at check-in. The next day, when I went downstairs to clarify questions about the resort credit, the front desk associate assisting me appeared visibly annoyed and distracted. While answering my questions, he repeatedly looked toward other waiting guests as if eager to move on. It made the interaction uncomfortable, to the point where I stopped asking additional questions. At a property of this caliber and price point ($700–$800 per night), guest interactions should feel welcoming, not rushed. Another missed opportunity was communication about family amenities. It wasn’t until we were checking out that the concierge mentioned they have toys available and even a children’s playroom. Had this been shared at check-in, we absolutely would have taken advantage of it during our stay. Discovering that on the way out was disappointing. On the positive side, the breakfast restaurant was excellent, our server was wonderful, the lake views were beautiful, and the overall ambiance of the hotel was refined and festive for the holidays. The crib for our son was delivered promptly, and the physical property itself is very nice. Overall, we had a good stay, but not the elevated, seamless experience we’ve come to expect from Four Seasons. In the past, we’ve had exceptional experiences at other Four Seasons properties, so this visit felt a bit underwhelming by comparison. For context, we stayed at Waldorf Astoria Chicago the previous Christmas season, and the overall experience there felt notably more polished and proactive. Would we stay again? Maybe we’d give it another chance. But clearer communication of benefits and more attentive front-desk service would have made a significant difference.
