The lobby and ballroom etc. in this hotel are just lovely. Our room was rather small but clean. The front desk told us about workman on the property and actually they were on scaffolding right outside our window. :( The hot tub had to be reserved but I guess not an issue. The front desk gave us inconclusive info a couple times but not a big issue. The pub onsite Kitty O'Shea's was handy. The staff not super friendly but ok. The housekeeping staff was especially friendly! Would we stay here again? Probably.

Great hotel, very impressive façade as you pull up, and the impression just gets better as you go into the lobby (there's an 'American Historic Hotels' plaque there stating it's been a hotel there since 1927). Rooms are spacious, many with views over Lake Michigan. Had a wheelchair accessible room (I'm a full-time wheelchair user) - everything was perfectly accessible (bed wasn't too high or too low, grab rails [all fixed] by the toilet, good wheel-in shower with a fixed bench and fixed grab rails for an easy transfer). Location wise, also ideal. Out the hotel and turn left - 5 minutes to the Arts Institute and Millennium Park. Right for more restaurants (10-15 minutes to Lou Malnati's pizzeria, which is always super busy and purported to do the best Chicago-style pizza in Chicago). Kitty O'Shea's in the hotel itself is also not bad (and not too expensive for a restaurant joined to a hotel, either. The hotel's breakfast buffet is good, not too expensive and a good selection. Only two minor (very minor) niggles - deep carpet by the elevators makes getting around the hotel in a wheelchair a bit of a pain, and they didn't use mattress protecters, either. Normally, that alone would lose them one star in a review, but the rest was so great, it made up for it (and you'd come here and wonder why it was so good for the price, anyway!)...

The Hilton Chicago is a nice hotel with very friendly staff. The room I was in had 2 of everything, literally. 2 bathrooms, closets, beds, so would be good for families? It was just a standard room. The hotel is old but has been remodeled. The room was pretty clean although small things like cobwebs in the corners of the ceilings needed to be cleaned up. Bathrooms are very small with no counter space, they’re identical. Noise from the hallways can be loud. Huge hotel and great location

Overall I would not stay here again when there are so many choices in the city. We had an event over a few days on site so ti made sense to stay. Pros: - Cool history and property is neat to explore - Huge spaces on site for events - Can handle large amounts of people - On site food choices were decent and convenient Cons: - Very loud (Windows don't mute traffic noise) - Rooms super outdated and old - Service is not great (Team is overworked) - Parking deck fills up (elevator in parking deck is tiny and slow you may have to wait a while)

Went on the Saturday before St Patty's day. Pre paid. They tried to up sell the room at check in. If rather get an upgrade or just leave it. The check in agent has an unintelligible voice. The biggest plus was the gym with several peloton bikes. I commonly leave and call the front desk to check out but I had to wait more than five minutes with an AI agent then an operator then finally to the front desk person, to say in 5 seconds "I'm checking out of room ####." AI agents are not ready for prime time.
