he hotel was great. Front he staff to the spacious room. it is uncommon to have a large room in downtown Chicago an this room was extremely large. Room was very clean and in great shape. Already planning on booking again.

Great hotel in a great area. Understated but groovy. Lovely staff and some awesome gems for dining in the neighborhood. The gym was a decent size with well kept equipment considering it was a boutique hotel.

We loved the James hotel. It was the perfect location for our after Christmas trip to Chicago- close to Michigan Ave and to great places to eat and shop. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. The cleaning staff was helpful and friendly too. The common area was very cozy with perfect lighting and comfortable chairs and fun books to read! Enjoyed the lovely fire after walking around Chicago on subzero days...

I stayed here on New Year's eve 2017. The weather was cold in Chicago. My room was #808, a corner suite. So it is possible that this room has more windows tham the usual room?? At any rate, the room was cold! Despite adjusting the thermostat, the room temperature would not go above 70. The windows are very drafty. We werent able to sit near window for too long. One other thing, the bathroom was really cold... significantly colder than the room. Ultimately, the staff brought in a space heater. In addition, the room was a little run down. Things like chipped paint and broken lighting fixtures. Avoid this room during cold weather.

Great Groupon deal. Lobby very nice with great staff, but the room was a bit warn, heating messed up and hard to control. Interesting layout-square not rectangular like most. modern design, kind of Scandinavian. But like I mentioned-worn down. I did not like holes in furniture and peeled woodwork .
