The Langham, Chicago in Chicago, Illinois

There’s no missing The Langham Chicago on the city’s skyline – the hotel occupies the first 13 floors of an iconic skyscraper designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, and it’s walking distance from the Magnificent Mile. A newcomer on Chicago’s five-star hotel scene, the London brand brings with it some of its trademark flourishes. Greeters in two-piece Chanel suits – in Langham’s signature shade of pink – welcome guests to a sleek, spacious building dotted with architectural artwork by Jaume Plensa and Anish Kapoor.

Perched high above Chicago, watch the Windy City come to life. Walk through The Loop district as the el train rattles overhead. Dig into one of the city’s famous deep-dish pizzas. Then return to the hotel for a refined afternoon: Langham London is credited as being the birthplace of English High Tea, and the tradition is no less sumptuous in the States. Enjoy tasty small bites and the finest Earl Grey in the Pavilion with live music and skyline views.

Experienced a wonderful high tea at the Langham last weekend. The service was impeccable, and the food was delicious. We were served am intriguing variety of savory sandwiches, and delectable sweet treats. I think my favorite was the violet infused macaron, and the savory scones! We had a great assortment of teas to try also. It was great fun dressing up and enjoying this English tradition!

As with all our previous stays at the Langham, we had another wonderful stay. We had a well appointed (as always) room on the club level facing the quieter Wabash side. The Club lounge under Tim Rodriguez is down to a beautiful buzz of personnel in the Club. All were highly engaged and bent over backwards for the hotel guests. They remembered us from last year and remembered our idiosyncratic likes and dislikes! Special kudos and thanks to Tim, Tommy, Joseph and Nicole. Special kudos and many thanks to concierge Chris Baum who made suggestions for our palate, and then took feedback from us after our meals. The Bellemore was outstanding and as exquisite as their reputation. Now that the Club staff are top notch again, perhaps Langham would consider bringing the food offerings in the Club up to the same standard. Adding paos to the evening canapes was great. However, we believe the breakfast offerings have gone downhill. For example, the blintz's were too thick (ie too many layers of wrap) and so was undercooked. The frittatas had technical issues, as though cooked by a student cook: first, it was very hard, and overdone; second, it would appear that the cooking of the layers was uneven (the bottom was eggy custard and the top was overdone with bubbles); and the salmon sank to the bottom. The croissant and flaky pastries were more like Danishes. Strangely, the crowd fav sausages rarely appear, only for 2 of the 5 days we were there. We also learned that in the morning, the chefs did not prepare the baked goods in house except for the muffins! I am sure the baked goods would be much better if they did. Overall, another wonderful stay at the Langham and we shall return when next in Chicago

My mom has wanted to stay at the Langham for years so my siblings and I met my father and mother here for one night to celebrate her bday. When she checked in, they wished her a happy 75th and upgraded my parents to the Presidential Suite! To say this experience will not be forgotten is an understatement. The suite is unbelievable!! The river was still green from St Patrick’s day and they didn’t want to leave! My sister and i stayed down the hall and had a very nice, beautiful room. Service was exceptional from cupcakes and wine to the room, to a wonderful breakfast the next morning. Thank you!!

What a wonderful hotel. Stayed for four nights. We had a deluxe river view room with an amazing view. We could have watched the world go by all day. Exceptionally comfortable room with a superb bathroom and lots of little extras. Our sons had a double double city view which was equally as comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful especially the concierge, Phillippe. There was a good breakfast menu and the food was excellent. The location was perfect, central and within walking distance of everything we wanted to do. Highly recommended.

The Langham offers a truly luxurious stay in a great location in Chicago. The service is impeccable! The Concierge proudly display their Les Clefs d’Or gold keys, which is my first clue as to their experience in the delivery on fine service. Hotel amenities are plentiful, great restaurants headed by talented chefs and the staff delivered a dining experience usually only found in establishments that have the eating experience as center stage. Our stay exceeded expectations on all levels and we look forward to another stay at the Langham in the near future!
