Reviews for The Whitehall Hotel
The hotel has a perfect location, is in quiet street next to the magnificent mile. The structure is confortable, just the bathroom will need to be reconditioned. In any case the rate is correct. Suggested for a Chicago visit.

A fine hotel in a superb location near Michigan Ave. The room, bathroom and service could not have been better. A hearty recommendation to the Whitehall. Quiet, clean and comfortable and the tv and WiFi were fine.

This hotel is simply the best. I have stayed at the Whitehall 3 times and each stay is better than the previous. It is a really neat boutique hotel, with fun and helpful people every which way you turn. This is my go-to hotel.

All kinds of things we love within walking distance - Choir concerts at Fourth Presbyterian Church and meat loaf at Ditka’s without crossing a street; Hancock building and all the shops and dining at 900 N Michigan Ave in just one street crossing; about six blocks to the Red Line station and the rest of the city. About the same to Lake Michigan beach. The place is old but clean, the beds are wonderful as advertised, the elevators are small but modernized, the two restaurants are more than adequate, and the staff is excellent.

I booked this hotel through Chase UR for a king size bed. I got to my room (room 303) and noticed the condition of the bathroom, the walls in the bed area and the floors. It was definitely not in great shape. I went back to the front desk and asked I can get a room change or an upgrade and I was told that they are completely booked for the duration of my stay. I then had no other choice but to stay in the room because booking another hotel was just way too expensive. For the record, the was never a day that passed by (during my 5-day stay) where I asked the front desk to get a room change. Aside from my room being in a terrible condition, I had to renew my key card every single night I come back to the hotel. And no, my hotel key card were not near my cellphone or credit cards. So you can just imagine my annoyance with the hotel already. I took pictures of the room and sent them to Chase UR and they opened up a case which took more than 6 weeks to resolve. The outcome of that case? Management at the WhiteHall Hotel said I never asked for a room change or complained. They also claimed that they had available rooms. It was then concluded I was not going to get a refund or any compensation for my stay. REALLY WhiteHall Hotel? I would not ask to get a room change or an upgrade after seeing the condition of the room you provided me? I paid over $1000 for this accommodation just to have a terrible experience? Staff training and your hotel's culture, integrity, morale and principle are beyond me. So, note to people who are staying here: make sure to take videos, photos and names. Maybe management will help you then.
