Reviews for The Whitehall Hotel
This hotel has a great location. Very friendly front desk staff. However, three days without working TV (despite maintenance dept checking in and out) and would not simply replace the TV in our room. Gave us $15 voucher to use in-house restaurant. And security dept (lost & found) was very rude. Summary: great location & friendly front desk staff - check your room carefully before checking out for lost items - they will never be retrieved! And the concept of replacing a broken TV with another is beyond their solution to the problem.

I spent two nights here on a business trip. Pros: Overall a good value that is near Michigan avenue and shopping. Attractive common areas and some classy features that point to it older heritage of the building. Bed comfortably with decent pillows. Good quality soap. Cons: Hallways and rooms shows wear and tear especially, wallpaper and room desk. Lots of noise on 3rd floor from outside. Bathroom fixtures need update with faucets that are surprisingly hard to turn(with wet hands) and look like vintage 1980s. We had difficulty with shower water temp where water is slightly too cold or very hot. (Hint set temp of water in shower prior to pulling shower diverter). Scratchy towels and bathrobe.
My husband and I stayed here for 3 days in September. The hotel is very nice. It is a boutique hotel. The location was good, but further than we would have wanted to be from many of the activities we did in our short trip. We spent alot of time at the Navy Pier, Millenium and Grant Parks and Eataly and would have preferred to have stayed closer to those locations, but the hotel was very nice. Nice and clean rooms. The bed was a little hard for me but i still slept pretty good. The only real negative is that this hotel is dog friendly. We asked to be a on floor with no dogs and we were told we were on the floor with no dogs but somehow, as i entered my room one day, i saw a woman enter her room right next to mine with a dog. So beware if you really don't want to be near dogs (who may bark and it's happened to us more than once), make sure when you check in you insist you are not on a floor that allows dogs. I know some people who check in don't always tell the clerk at the desk because they don't want to pay for the dog. People if you're going to bring your dog, great, just make sure you tell the clerks who check you in out of respect for those who don't wish to be near them.

We booked this hotel online and where very pleased with our choice. This is an older hotel but very nice and clean. The staff were all helpful. The only one negative was the concierge was off for two days during our stay and they did not have a replacement. Our room was very clean and well stocked each day with toiletries. We had a good view of the city and small view of the water. We did not hear any noise coming from any other room. We highly recommend this hotel.

I stayed here back in February with my brother. The staff was amazing and the location can't be beat. Our phone in the room didn't work and they sent up a technician to fix it within minutes. I do wish there was a mini fridge instead of bar. Will definitely stay here again.
