Reviews for The Whitehall Hotel
It's a nice hotel, in a good location in downtown Chicago and the staff are friendly. But the HVAC system is for the birds. Either you're sweating your butt off or it's cold enough to hang meat in your room!
We stayed for four nights in Chicago. The hotel is old but clearly underwent a renovation which brings an air of modernity. Extremely spacious room and comfortable bed. Perfect location, close to Michigan Ave and next to Rush Street.

First of all before you book a downtown Chicago hotel do your research first so you don't have unpleasant surprises. I knew in advance what the hotel tax was for Chicago and I also know that most hotels put a hold on your credit card for more than your room bill. Many people were complaining about their bills but that's their own fault for not knowing about the high Chicago downtown hotel tax and I think there was a $75 per day extra hold on my credit card and the fee to park a car was $60 a day. If you have to come by car, find other close by garages to park, don't use the hotel. Anyway, I loved the room, we got the top floor which is nice since there's a lot of horn honking and sirens in Chicago! Great location for shopping and restaurants, the bar was great too. It is an old hotel so you don't have ice/vending on the floors but there is a fridge and minibar and they will bring you ice. Nice restaurant downstairs too, I would stay there again.

What we liked # located conveniently near the red line and various bus stops # The room was quiet # very clean, good job of the room service # Friendly staff # good room size What we didn't like # boutique hotel slogan dies not match up to our experience # Everything pretty old and used # Could not open the window (ok, 15th Floor) # aircondition was extremely loud

The Whitehall hotel is the perfect place if you want to walk the Magnificent Mile of upscale shopping and see the sites of Chicago. The Navy Pier and Chicago River are close by for adventures on the water. The staff is super nice, including the front desk, doorman, and concierge. The room was spacious and clean. The restaurants in the hotel were top notch. I give the Whitehall my highest rating!
