I love this hotel. I couldn't give a 5 because I do have some suggestions. I wish they would upgrade their fitness equipment. It's dated. I wish they'd reconsider their mini bar restrictions. You have to call down front anytime you want something. I tried to keep my Diet Coke cold and it locked on me again. Are your customers this dishonest? Shortly after I got a Diet Coke someone came to replenish and accused me of taking a candy bar also. I never touched the candy bar. In fairness they were nice downstairs and didn't charge me. All that, love the location, people are friendly. Rooms are clean.
Convenient location on historic Delaware Place. Close the Magnificent Mile and Rush Street. Valet and bellboy greets upon arrival. Evening front desk could have been a bit more welcoming, however other staff, both in-person and on the phone, had wonderful welcoming attitudes. Stayed in room 503 (a Superior King room): upon entering the room, the temperature of the room was nicely warm and the TV was on playing some soft music. That was very welcoming and unusual. King bed was very comfortable with plenty of pillows of varying densities which was appreciated. Two windows, one with a bit of a city view. Room furniture of very nice quality: upholstered loveseat, leather like office chair with two matching ottomans complete other typical room furniture. Plenty of lighting. Nice tiled bathroom with tub/shower combo with 2 of each towel size and sample-size shampoo, soaps and lotions. Large counter around sink. Toilet and tub in a slightly smaller area of the bathroom. Items to note: Easy to use thermostat. Valet parking $65/night; $45 you park; on secure lot located about 2 blocks away. Hotel will provide ice delivered to your room at no charge but you must call and request. Real glassware. Terry bathrobes, ironing board and iron and hairdryer in room. Complimentary morning coffee and tea can be found just off the lobby. No vending but there are items in the room, plus a mini-bar (best to bring your own to avoid inflated prices of snacks). Two on-site restaurants which I did not try. Some slight noise from other rooms. Overall a very nice hotel, apparently recently remodeled. A very interesting history (and it's various incarnations) of the property which was originally built in 1928, is in the room. I enjoyed reading that and I would definitely stay here again.

As first timers in Chicago this hotel was perfect! First of all, we decided to get the subway from the airport. The hotel is only a couple of blocks away from Chicago station on the Red line, maybe a 15-20 min walk at best with all your luggage. Upon arrival we were checked in quickly by a very friendly member of staff at reception. Throughout our stay the reception staff were amazingly helpful! Whether it be recommendations for dinner or places of interest that we didn't know about. They were always friendly, helpful and very approachable! The rooms were also flawless. It was actually quite possibly the biggest room I've ever stayed in! For one, the bed was huge and amazingly comfortable! I think one of the best I've ever slept on, with an ample supply of pillows. The room itself was incredibly clean and the maids maintained this everyday. A large tv with a big selection of channels was also present, with a modern bath and shower. In terms of location this hotel is brilliant! Its just off of the Magnificent Mile with an amazing selection of shops incuding Macey's and Bloomingdales (across the street from the hotel!). Its a little walk away from the loop and Millennium but nothing unmanageable. At the end of the day, you wouldn't be going on a city break without expecting to do a fair bit of walking! Navy Pier is also relatively close by, with the Christmas Fair ongoing when we visited. Although I imagine this is much more lively during the summer months! All in all, this hotel is spot on for a break in Chicago! When I manage to return to the city, I know I'll also be revisiting this hotel!

We had a great stay at the Whitehall! Excellent service, great room and a great ambience in the bar and restaurant. Really feels like coming back in time to the twenties and thirties. Superb breakfast!
