This hotel is listed as a boutique hotel. Although very old it is rather quaint and wonky. Very well situated in Chicago. One block from the Hop on Hop off pick up point. 1 block from a major shopping street. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The room was slightly luxurious, spacious, and the bathroom was good. One of my favourites on a 4500 mile road trip across USA

On the plus side, this hotel is very well-located on the Magnificent Mile, basically one block away from the Hancock Building. The hotel also has quiet a few amenities, including valet parking, restaurant, and fitness center -- though my stay was relatively short and so I didn't get to take advantage of everything. As other reviewers have noted, however, this hotel is a bit old and dated. I can certainly appreciate a historic charm, but the "old" vibe the hotel gives off had more to do with cramped elevators and ragged carpeting than anything one might consider "cute." I also was surprised that the windows seemed a bit dirty -- given that we were only on the third floor I would think they'd be relatively easy to clean, but I guess that isn't the case. There was hair on one of our towels in the bathroom, as well. We didn't make a big deal about it and just threw it on the floor to be laundered, but...kinda gross. Overall this hotel was fine for what we wanted, which was an inexpensive place near the biggest attractions in Chicago. I think that visitors who are expecting a true four-star hotel experience might be left disappointed, however, since this hotel was probably not much better than your typical two or three star chain.

Had a very nice time staying at the Whitehall Hotel. My wife and I came into town for a nice little getaway from the Texas heat and the area did not disappoint. Location of the hotel was right in a central location.

What a great location first and foremost. 1 block off the Miracle Mile, 2-3 blocks from Commerce and Rush. Hotel rooms are big for Chicago. The bar is private and the food was very good. Staff was very helpful and we really enjoyed the stay for 3 days. The only recommendation is request a room that does not face the alley. Very noisy with the trash companies and restaurants dumping the late night trash. With that said however, I will return to The Whitehall Hotel. The hotel is behind the church in the photo.

Stayed here for first time when I had appointment in office in Hancock building. It was convenient, walking distance to the appointment, and to shopping on Michigan Ave. Hotel is old, but rooms are comfortable and clean, with adequate space to spread out. I stayed on 13th floor. Bathroom is dated, but clean and in good repair, everything worked and shower water pressure was great! Keep your shades pulled at night, I could just about read the newspaper in the room across the alley! Front window was fine though, overlooking Michigan Ave. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Valet parking took a while to get my car - make sure you allow at least 20 minutes advance notice when you need it. Price was reasonable, given that it inicluded valet parking. Did not try the restaurants.
