Sandpearl Resort

Everything in this hotel was great, valet, front desk, the lady in the lobby giving out free mimosas. The rooms were so comfy and amazing, pool service was great, waiter checked up on me frequently and was friendly. Now this is where I get to the negative stuff that takes off a rating point, should be 2 but that’s too harsh. The restaurant service and staff/ management are HORRENDOUS. Now I’m a minority and I don’t want to use the race card but I believe that I was mistreated and neglected due to my skin color. Sunday morning I was told tables aren’t available till 11:30 for lunch. I come back 10 minutes after going outside, and they now tell me that tables aren’t available till 1, that there’s reservations already, when the restaurant looks and sounds empty, I could only see a family or 2. I will add that when trying to make the reservation, the big bald man looked like he didn’t care about me, the customer and guest of the resort, with the tone and energy I was receiving, I left and ate at the new opal sand resort. I came back today for lunch, I was able to get a table. The food was great no complaints about that, but the server assigned to me, Stephan, was a horrendous, I was given a table in the corner of the restaurant away from people. Being isolated from other families led to me being neglected by my server, I asked for 2 drinks along with some sauces, I got the sauces but not my drinks, by the time I got my drinks I was more than halfway done with my meal. I didn’t even get to ask Stephan for my drinks again, I had to get help from the other waiter who was folding napkins and organizing silverware. He was a lot nicer and helpful to us than our assignment waiter. I noticed that while I was missing my drinks, Stephan was making conversation to his other table, and frequently checking in on them, this family was white. To end it off, I didn’t have my wallet and I checked out my room. I usually pay with Apple Pay, so I asked if I could do so, I was told no due his superiors not allowing it. I then asked why have the terminal that supports Apple Pay and is clearly working, if ur not going to accept my form of payment. I was only allowed to manually put in my credit card. When telling him what to tell to his superiors to have a better experience next time, I was told that “ I am only the waiter”. If it were up to me, I would have given his forced gratuity tip to the other young man that helped me out. Like I said in the beginning, everything and everyone in this hotel is awesome, EXCEPT for the restaurant, stay far away from it and go eat at another resort or local place. I shouldn’t be paying 2 thousand dollars a night just to receive mediocre, and borderline discriminatory treatment.

Sandpearl is a great hotel perfectly located on Clearwater Beach. One of the Opal Collections best! The staff is phenomenal, the front desk and concierge are excellent. Caretta’s is a beautiful restaurant with delicious dishes for dinner & breakfast. Love the pool and the option to rent chairs/umbrella on the private section of the beach. We stay there every visit to Clearwater. Highly recommended. Shout out to A+ staff members: at the pool Kyle, Patrick, Kayla, Elaine, Catherine, Kate, Abby, Taylor; Lucy front desk; Michael and Gene concierge; Fatima housekeeping; Manny and Kenny valet; Tommy and Jani maintenance; Selina and Adyson at the pool desk; Stephan at Caretta’s.

Spacious and clean room! Helpful staff. Amazing location.

Location was beautiful, this hotel is quite amazing and elegant ; gives a 1920’s great Gatsby vibe. The room was incredible, clean , spacious and gave old style glamour!
