No doubt that the Sandpearl Resort is a first class resort and it's obvious that they are striving to maintain that level of service in all that they do. Starting with arrival, you are met with friendly smiling faces holding the door and greeting you, every time you enter or leave the resort until late at night. You are welcomed by a friendly lady offering champagne and mimosa's, all making for a very nice reception. We stayed 5 nights Feb. 13th - Feb. 18th in a Gulf Front Jr. King Suite. If you are standing on the beach looking back at the resort, our section of rooms was on the far left, it's the north side and the rooms closest to the Gulf. We were on the 6th floor, room 601 on the end by the pool. ABOUT OUR ROOM: GULF FRONT JR. KING SUITE The room is 100% exactly as you see it in the pictures. It's tastefully furnished, although our living room chair did have one sizable and noticeable stain they have overlooked. I think it should be Housekeeping's job to report these things, not guest. The room has amazing views of the Gulf and a balcony comfortable enough to use, not huge but big enough with rocking Adirondack chairs. We had hoped to be able to leave our doors open at night to hear the waves but it was too warm to let the room heat up, if you leave the doors open the AC shuts off and just the fan blows. Below our room was the green space. be advised there will be events here a lot of the time. It wasn't really a problem for most of them except for a Sat night event. We could hear them moving things from where they are stored down below onto the green early Sat. morning. and we could hear them moving it all back on Sunday morning on the 6th floor. It sounds like a dragging vibration sound. Surely they can come up with a better system. We could also hear noise from the pool but only on the balcony. Otherwise our room being on an end was very quiet. I don't know if it's like that all the time, or the fact that we didn't have a lot of neighbors close to our room. The suite does have a small L shaped hallway before you reach the bedroom so it does a lot to cancel out noise in the hall. THE BED: It was the worst resort bed I have ever slept on. It was beyond firm, it was just plain hard and uncomfortable. It took me forever to get to sleep and the first couple of days I was just tired from not sleeping well. I called the front desk after the first night and was told the bed was new and not broke in. The lady offered another mattress pad and I accepted only to find out it did absolutely nothing as I expected would be the case. This was the only vacation I have ever had that I couldn't wait to go home because I was that uncomfortable. My husband generally likes a firmer bed and even he thought it was hard. Spending $2700 for 5 nights with the discounted advance purchase to be that unhappy and uncomfortable was disappointing especially for a celebratory vacation. The weather was in the 70's and up to 80 and it was sunny and warm. The room has the main A/C vent between the living room and the bedroom. The living room side stays so much colder than the bedroom side, it was too warm on the furtherest side closest to the bathroom making it even more uncomfortable. We called and asked for a fan and the first one they brought up was the ugliest old tattered box fan you''ever seen, it didn't work. Called for another one, and again it looked like it had seen better days but at least it worked and we used it every night on the bedroom side by the bathroom. Sandpearl, it's time for you to buy some new ones, standing ones would be a plus, not ones that sit on the floor, and box fans are extremely loud. The room needs to be modernized with more plug ins for all the devices we have now. The desk has a lamp where you can plug in one thing into the bottom of it One outlet on a coffee/ bar space. We moved the Keurig to the desk to make room on the tiny bar for our phones and iPads. One more outlet down close to the floor on the bed side that you would use for a vacuum and the last outlet is in the bathroom. There needs to be more around the desk, besides the one outlet in the bottom of the lamp. THE BATHROOM: Separate tub and shower, one sink very tall vanity and sufficient storage underneath including a blowdryer. Shutter doors open from the bathroom to the bedroom so you can see your beautiful view while getting ready. The best was the towels, the softest anywhere, they didn't feel like bleached plastic towels, they were soft and I appreciated that. The toilet paper however was the thinnest worst toilet paper of any resort I've ever stayed at! Sorry, but it's true. HOUSEKEEPING: Housekeeping does a great job, room was serviced every time we returned every day. We move some things around like all the things they put up on the vanity that we don't need, use or want in our way, as well as other things in the room. Then we got a new Housekeeping attendant who had to put everything back. We also shut our curtains when we left to keep the room cool but she had to open them. It was very warm. I know they want you to walk in and see the view, but we want to walk into a cool room. It seems there's always one that can't deviate from their training and insist on things being done the way their trained. I think they need to just replenish things where they are and not be redoing what guests have specified they want, they are paying for the room. But it was minor and overall a great job by all. ROOM SERVICE: Well we wanted to order dessert one night and were shocked to see only 2 choices, Creme Brûlée and Sorbet, that's it, so many choices in every other category but only 2 for dessert. We had already gotten comfy but we got up and got dressed and walked down the street to a wonderful little ice cream place on the right side. Ice Cream & Creamery, locally made and it was a treat! I was actually glad Sandpearl didn't have more to offer or we would have missed out on this quaint little place. LOCATION: Sandpearl has prime beach real estate and they know it judging by their prices, but not only do they have a fantastic section of white sand (which is incredibly soft) and gulf views they also have a prime location street side. You can literally walk down the street for cheap eats, better dining, souvenir shopping and other hotels, strolling down the street is a must. THE BEACH: Beautiful and quieter than the pool. The service for drinks was exceptional largely in part to Mica, never have I seen a beach employee hustle more than he did. He was literally walking as fast as he could all the time through the sand to take care of everyone. Sandpearl needs employees like him and they need to take notice.Too many guest walk off leaving towels as though they are returning when they know their not. Please at least toss them into a ball at the end of the chair so they will be picked up and other guest can use. Same for the pool. THE POOL: It's just beautiful. Everything you could want expect peace and quiet. A lot of kids, mainly little boys running around and screaming, screaming isn't necessary to have fun. We finally had enough and left to go to the beach where it was quieter. It's disappointing when parents let their kids ruin everyone's vacation by letting them run wild. Great service at the pool. I don't know the lady's name waiting on us on 2/16 but she was great! The burger was awful, terrible cheese and two big chunks of romaine on it, who uses romaine on a burger? The Pina Colada was the worst I've ever had at a resort anywhere, came out of a machine and didn't taste like a Pina Colada at all, I just sent it back and that was disappointing, DINING: We chose to not go to Caretta's after reading many reviews about it being loud but I'm sure it depends on when you go. I wasn't impressed with what Tate's did with a burger so that was one and done. The little Marketplace where you get coffee and a few drinks looked like they could do a lot more there and I never saw anyone in there. The offerings of some various pastries etc looked sort of tired and lifeless. I think they could do a lot to improve the Marketplace. They need to offer a lot more than they do. VALET: Exceptional service everyday, every time! Always friendly, helpful and courteous. Very fast bringing up the car without long waits. I appreciate that! THE SPA: I will begin by saying I have been to spa's all over the country, some really great ones so I have a really good basis for comparison when it comes to day spa's. The spa is very small, at least all the areas for guest comforts. I was actually shocked, expecting way more after seeing the rest of the resort. I have never been to a resort of this size and caliber to find the tiniest lackluster guest areas I found here. Behind a curtain is two rows of lockers on your left with the tiniest boring dressing area with a blowdryer on the vanity, and the exact same on the right, that's all they offer. Tiny room to get undressed and dressed and a tiny little vanity on the left and one on the right for everyone to use. It's terrible. The waiting lounge is depressing, a large manly concrete coffee table that looks dirty and the furniture is outdated, frumpy and just plain boring. Nothing about this room is inviting or relaxing. The hot tub area is the same, al the furniture looks like it needs to be updated. It doesn't look inviting either. They have plenty of space for individual chaise lounge chairs that would be more comfortable. The restroom shower area is also small. I was celebrating my birthday and had ordered a lunch between services and there was no where I wanted to sit and enjoy that. The table they rolled in was so high I couldn't use it so I sat in the gift shop where I could look out at the pool with my lunch in my lap, how glamorous is that? There's not a good place anywhere to have lunch here. Kevin delivered my food and he was especially pleasant and friendly, great guy! SPA SERVICES: I scheduled an 80 min Traditional Massage and got Heather. She came to get me in the lounge and I immediately found her to be very unwelcoming. We left the lounge and walking down the hall, she walked really far in front of me as to not engage in conversation. Actually that's fine because not talking in the halls is the right thing to do so as to not disturb other guest but with her, it just felt standoffish. She never warmed up and she was the least friendly spa attendant I've ever had anywhere and the least friendly of any person I encountered at Sandpearl. The massage was excellent but had her 18% tip not already been included I wouldn't have tipped her that much just for making me feel that uncomfortable and especially on my birthday. She was professional and did her job well but I guess when your tip is already included you don't have to do anymore. FACIAL: After lunch I had a facial and I got Monica Conti, unlike Heather she was extremely nice and had a very welcoming calm demeanor. The facial was without a doubt the best facial I have ever had! It blew me away, it was so relaxing, maybe more than my massage! I definitely recommend her! SPA OVERALL: The spa needs to be brought up to the same level that the rest of the Sandpearl Resort is at for all the guest comfort areas. Send some people to Las Vegas and check out some of the spa's there on the strip. Most of the space at the spa is all given to service rooms and all the others are way too small, outdated and need an update. THE SANDPEARL RESORT OVERALL: Everything is beautiful, clean and well maintained. Everyone was friendly, downstairs more than upstairs. I loved the self playing Steinway piano right off the lobby and the elevators are just unbelievably fast! Many outdoor areas to enjoy, the fire pit over by Tate's and the gas fireplaces up by Caretta's. Would I recommend it? Absolutely I would but I personally would not return, the bed was a deal breaker for me. I can't pay that much to be uncomfortable. Hopefully you get a better bed than I did. There's a show on CNBC called Billionaire Buyer - a Texas billionaire that owns the Houston Rockets and countless hospitality businesses, restaurants, hotels, casinos, and the like. Search the mattress episode and see what lengths he went to in buying mattresses for his his resorts. I realize you can't please everyone when it comes to a bed, but a happy medium would be nice. Thank you for your helpful votes if you found my review helpful in any way.

About 60 of us came here for a private work function event that was held on the gulf lawn. We were celebrating our 70th company anniversary. The food and service was excellent. We had tables on the gulf lawn, live music and a buffet. Was thoroughly impressed with the service and set up.

We spent the night of February 6,2018 at the Sand Pearl. Chantelle was very welcoming with our complimentary glasses of champagne. It was a fun opportunity for me to speak French with her during our check in process. Every employee we met at the resort was wonderful and very accommodating. The overall service was impressive. From someone like myself in the service industry I was very impressed. Thanks again, from James, Jan and Clayton (Canada) Merci encore un fois, Chantelle !!

The hotel staff were very good, answered every question I had. The pool bar and grille had the beat burger in town and drinks were ok. The only problem with the room was on fourth floor just above the restaurant and you could smell all the food cooking when you were on the outside balcony . I would stay there again.

We had a great experience at the Sandpearl. The staff is amazing. The rooms are very clean and well taken care of. The property is beautiful and impeccably maintained. The location is perfect, everything is within walking distance. The pier, restaurants, shopping, etc all right out the front door. We are definitely coming back. The brunch at Carettas was very good and the we had lunch almost everyday at Tate's the beach bar by the pool. We loved their quesadillas. So the price is pretty expensive but you get what you pay for, a true 5 star in our opinion.
