Dating back to 1682, the Steenberg Hotel is an exquisite historic wine farm set in the foothills of South Africa's magnificent Constantia Valley. Although just 20 minutes from the center of Cape Town, this serene set of buildings - declared an official National Monument - is its own seductive world, surrounded by vineyards and an 18-hole championship golf course. The buildings have been lovingly restored and decorated traditionally with antiques in elegant 17th-century style. In your delightful guest room or suite, you will discover a wealth of treats, which may include a romantic patio with views of the vines and fairways.

Absolutely fantastic place. From the drivers Brandon, Amir and Jeramiah, to all round legend Clint, this place has it all. The ladies in reception and Charlotte in Tryn are all first class and deliver charming and professional service which doesn’t feel forced - it feels genuine and warm, The food in both the bistro and main restaurant is historic with service and produce that draws people from all over the world. The pool is tucked away and beautiful, don’t forget the sauna just behind it also - the hotel never feels busy or hectic regardless of occupancy. We stayed in rooms 20 and 16, both were lovely and quiet. If you can spend the money, stay in rooms 20 - one of the best ever. The grounds are immaculate and the entire place has a sense of style you rarely find in 2026. The shuttle to nearby restaurants is super useful and it was a class touch that Amir waited for us to get our money from the cash machine before waving us off - little touches like that are appreciated. For golfers there is the world famous Steenberg course next door and Theo was a superb coach for anyone wanting to brush up on their swing whilst staying. We can’t fault the place and will return. Thank you to all the staff and apologies for not getting the names of the superb lady in front desk that helped us with the room change and was a star.

Highly recommend staying here. Beautiful property, excellent food and most important: friendly and welcoming services from every person we met at the estate. Special thank you to Fyona who checked in with us each morning at breakfast.

We love visiting Steenberg, always love the warm welcome and 5 star treatment. Beds are comfy and wine and breakfast are always great.

It was only a 1 night stay, but it was a memorable one! The room, the staff, the wine tasting, the dining at both restaurants are amazing.

We just came back from our 1 week stay at Steenberg, where i went with my friend to celebrate my 40th birthday. The hotel premises are stunning, from the rooms, to the pool and the spa everything is amazing but what stood out was the people. Everyone went above and beyond to help us and they were all extremely friendly and nice. I highly recommend and if i go back to Cape Town, i will 100% book to stay there again.

The Steenberg is absolutely beautiful and the staff couldn't have been more gracious, friendly and professional. The food at Cathrina's restaurant was beautifully prepared and the service was exceptional. The property offers lots to do but the staff also gave us the option do using their transportation to visit other wine properties in the area as well as other fine restaurants. Though only 30 minutes from the heart of Cape Town you are truly in the country and away from it all. My wife and I would go back and stay for a week in a heart beat and it is a must on the next visit to South Africa.” L. Faulk

We stayed in the hotel for 5 days. Playing 18 holes on the Steenberg golf course is an experience I'll never miss. So we decided already to go again!

We stayed at the Steenberg Hotel in September. We would very highly recommend Catharina's, the restaurant attached to the hotel. We couldn't find fault the food and service here - wonderful.

Steenberg was recommended to us by a friend. South Africa is wonderful and a stay at Steenberg makes it complete.
