About the Hotel

Glorietta Bay Inn is a century-old mansion originally built by sugar magnet John D. Spreckels in 1908. Its envious location, overlooking the bay on lovely Coronado island across the harbor from downtown San Diego, is just one block from the beach and steps away from a fleet of upscale shops and restaurants that line charming Orange Avenue. The rooms, housed in both the original mansion and a more modern annex, are all newly-remodeled with varying appointments. Those who slumber beneath the storied roofs enjoy extra plush bedding and fabulous views, plus turndown service with milk and cookies left bedside for late-night noshing. All guests are privy to an expanded continental breakfast and afternoon refreshments. The inn also has a refreshing swimming pool for anyone wanting to take a plunge.

Reviews for Glorietta Bay Inn

Best hotel experience ever

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Easiest booking ever! Everyone at the Glorietta takes care of you like you are family. I set up room blocks for a wedding on Coronado with Jordan Tran, by far the most helpful person I’ve ever met. Not to mention, so kind. Jordan made everything so easy. Helping plan a wedding can be stressful, but Jordan took care of the hotel stay for our whole family, and it was such a relief. We stayed in the garden suite and it beautiful!! The bridesmaids got ready in the garden suite and it was beyond perfect for pictures. We can’t wait to stay again!!

Beautiful setting, cozy rooms

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Booked due to proximity to Hotel del Coronado and pleasantly surprised at how perfect the location would be. We did not stay in the original Spreckles mansion but in a first floor room (bistro chair/table under a wonderful old bougainvillea vines shading the mini patio) just steps from the main building. There’s not a lot to see here other than the beautiful setting on the bay and the backdrop of history from the 1880s, no restaurant, only a pool. The free breakfast buffet was quite good, cheese omelet/fried REAL eggs, sausage, crispy fried potatoes, fresh fruit, decent coffee, muffins, cereal, etc. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The room was older but very clean and cozy. Having a TV that turns on immediately without having to take a computer course to use it, is a joy lol. Shower pressure, a particular bone of contention, was PERFECT, thank you so much. The setting, the bay, the history, the proximity to other San Diego/Coronado areas was just what we were looking for.

Wedding Weekend Stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

My family and I stayed at the GB on my wedding weekend. Jordan T. was absolutely amazing. He and the entire team took such great care of us. Jordan helped me reserve several rooms for us (bride & groom) and our out-of-state wedding guests. Everything was perfect! They left a congratulatory note in our room with a special surprise, which was so sweet and unexpected. We felt at home & we couldn’t be happier. We hope to stay there again soon! Thank you Jordan & the entire GB staff!

A historical treasure

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and learning more about the historical mansion. The location is perfect and the grounds are beautiful. The bed was a bit firm, but the room was comfortable and clean. They have breakfast options for DF and GF. The staff greeted us and assisted us with all of our needs. Jackie went above and beyond! Thank you for treating us like family.

Wonderful wedding Weekend

Jordan and the team at Glorietta Bay Inn were fantastic from start to finish. We had many family and friends from out of town and needed hotels for almost 100 guests. Glorietta bay inn was perfect for us, it’s quaint and beautiful. The location was perfect for our guests to explore Coronado and San Diego and close to the venue. The staff were friendly, breakfast in the am allowed us to see our guests every morning. Each room is unique at this hotel and Jordan accommodated all of our guests, everyone was so happy to be there and the hotel really added to the wedding weekend. I will recommend Glorietta bay inn over and over again.

We stayed at Glorietta Bay in the Sugar Baron Suite. The overall experience was outstanding with service world-class. We would definitely stay at the Glorietta Inn again.
