Cristallo Hotel Spa & Golf in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy
Cristallo Hotel Spa & Golf has a storied history punctuated by galas and wars, and it continues to preside over the Tofane mountains in uncontested splendor. Built in 1901 when Cortina was still a small village under the flag of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, its art nouveau architecture attracted luminaries like Leo Tolstoy. Both of the world wars turned it into a military hospital, yet Cristallo reclaimed its aristocratic glory each time. Cortina hosted the Olympics in 1956, making the city an international hotspot, and skiers flock to these hallowed peaks for some of the best runs in the Alps.
Wake up in a cozy wood-paneled bedroom and have breakfast under your suite’s grand chandelier. Take to the slopes – if you’re feeling extra adventurous, try your hand at snow kiting, ice trekking or other innovative winter pastimes. Warm up with a stint in the spa’s solarium, followed by an oxygenated Swiss facial. Relive the hotel’s Golden Age of the ’60s with a cognac at Monkey, where James Bond and The Pink Panther filmed.

Reviews for Cristallo Hotel Spa & Golf
Second stay here and still a wonderful experience. From the moment you arrive you are relaxed and able to enjoy the experience. This time took more advantage of the pool/gym areas as well as just having a cocktail in the lounge. The views from the room and the deck are great. The staff is super helpful and and remembered what we did last time we stayed and offered new suggestions. They even asked if my wife wanted to golf again without even me asking. She did... That's also another great reason to stay is the golf course that's is 5 minutes away. While only 9 holes it's probably the most spectacular golf we've played. Lots of elevation change and some of the best views you could ask for. I'd say it was better than Kapalua, Hawaii. We played the course twice. So highly recommend and would suggest a junior suite with the mountain view.

Every aspect of our stay at Cristallo was exceptional from the first moment to the last. The rooms are beautifully decorated in a classic European style. The bathrooms have gorgeous marble detailing. The breakfast buffet was spectacular and the staff were eager to help us with any questions we directed their way. Giovanni at the reception desk is a truly exceptional staff member who helped make our stay seamless, enjoyable, and unforgettable. Thank you all!

The good: the hotel is beautiful, the rooms are spacious with lovely bathrooms and the views are spectacular. The bad: It's a long walk to town to shops and restaurants, and the walk back is a climb up a steep hill. The ugly: the staff is haughty and very impressed with itself. I have never been treated so rudely in all my years of travel. I guess if you aren't a celebrity they consider you a second-class citizen. This was particularly the case with the dining staff, who were rude when we asked questions about the menu, and attempted to rush us through the meal (even though the restaurant was more than half empty). They even brought the bill before offering us dessert and coffee -- and expressed annoyance when we insisted on ordering some.

The Cristallo is an amazing property and it's staff are top notch. My fiancée and I arrived at night and though we couldn't see much as soon as we saw our room we immediately felt very comfortable there. At breakfast the next morning we finally realized we found the place where we want to get married. We are now planning to have our wedding at the Cristallo next year!

Hotel built in 1901. Has seen its share of luminaries..... 5 star setting. 4 star service ( just shy of excellent) Was able to snag a room with view of ski hill and mountains. Stupendous! Hotel pool has great ambiance with all the amenities you would desire ( loungers, towels, showers, sauna, hot tubs). Hot tub temp needs to be calibrated up - water only warm. Room service very expensive. Service staff very capable - Giovanni, Maddalena, Gianlucca, etc.
