This is a unique hotel. Everything in it makes it the best choice to enjoy Cortina. The hotel itself has elegance and glamour and every single detail has been taken into account. Breakfast is excellent and so is the food at the different restaurants. The shuttle service is really convenient and the rooms are very nice and comfortable, with a huge variety of amenities like I hadnâ€™t seen in ages. However what really makes this hotel unique is the team. Every single employee is absolutely fantastic. The concierge, reception team, drivers, waiters,... they really make you feel at home. It even has a kids club where my son had great fun during our stay. Certainly the best option in Cortina.

Everything is marvellous, excellent! We were very well treated by the staff. The restaurant is superp. Cristallo is the best hotel to stay during the ski season in Cortina d'Ampezzo. I highly recommend it.

I only wish I could add more stars to this review! My husband and I recently stayed for five nights and had the most amazing time. The service was a real standout for us - Giovanni on the concierge desk couldn't have done more to help us; the resort was very busy but he worked tirelessly to make sure we had reservations in all the restaurants we wanted to try, and always greeted us back to the hotel with a smile and asking how our day or dinner was - he was there nearly 24/7 and my husband even remarked and asked if he ever slept! The shuttle drivers, Max and Paulo, are fantastic, and likewise seemingly working ceaselessly to look after their guests - Max was particularly helpful and friendly, teaching us Italian words and phrases. The food is excellent - both breakfast and dinner at Il Gazebo - our waiter Max was brilliant. Our room (309 - I think a superior room) was absolutely perfect with lots of lovely products. We thought the 'vin brule' in the boot room after a days skiing was a fun touch. We had a drink in the bar before diner every night and enjoyed the accompanying pianist. Perhaps the nibbles to accompany drinks could be alternated - we had potato croquettes four nights in a row - very minor but struggling to think of any areas where service could be improved. The spa is great, if a little noisy at times with children, but this didn't bother us. Perhaps might be worth adding eucalyptus or some other essential oil to the steam room? - the only improvement we could think of throughout our entire stay. Staying in a 5* hotel its always about the people, and the little touches, and this was genuinely the best service I've ever received in a hotel - we can't wait to return. I rarely write on TripAdvisor and am usually fairly content with my hotel visits (I canâ€™t say the same about my girlfriend), but I was so shocked by the service at this hotel I felt compelled to post. I recently stayed at the hotel for the weekend with my girlfriend and the service was not even up to par for a 2 star hotel let alone a 5 star hotel. I stay over 100 nights a year at top hotels and have never seen service this poor. It seems like they almost prides themselves in being incompetent and then rude. While building looks nice in pictures and it is actually quite dated upon arrival and I would certainly stay at another option like the grand hotel savoia next time which actually cares about its guests. Our room had a beautiful view, so if you do stay there, you want to be on the back side. Sat down in the (empty) bar area and no one came to serve us for 10 minutes so I went to the bar itself which was also unstaffed until I looked into the kitchen. Then when I asked to see a wine list they said they only had 3 wines by the glass despite the walls of the hotel being lined by wine bottles. I asked 3 times if there was a larger list and he said no. Wine was also horrible once served. The musician at the bar was nice however. Next morning called about a shuttle and they said come down anytime after 9, we came down later and they said the shuttle had just left and we would have to wait 20 minutes. I somewhat understand this so we were happy to wait. After waiting for 20 minutes we went back and asked what the status was. At that point he noticed we didnâ€™t have ski gear and he then tried to railroad us to going to this bad rental shop in town they clearly have a kick back scheme with. However to even do that they would have one shuttle bus drop us off and then we would have to call again for another shuttle and wait 15 minutes to take us to the mountain. Finally we just said we would rather rent at the mountain like everyone else and the shuttle driver refused to take us saying the mountain had no rental shops by it despite the concierge telling us just before they did. After arguing with him for 5 minutes he did finally call the hotel and confirm we were right. He did not apologize and was rude when dropping us off. Spa was extremely disappointing. It was dark, barely warm pool and cold whirlpool which was didnâ€™t even have jets that worked so we were basically sitting in a cold tub with some strangers. Nice tea selection though to be fair. We were mistakenly charged for breakfast which was included and had to argue with them for half an hour to have it removed. Luckily cortina is lovely so the vacation wasnâ€™t ruined but will not be returning, much better to stay in town with a hotel that actually cares about its guests.
We recently stayed at the Cristallo. I have never seen a hotel that cares less about service or their guests in my travels. In the days prior to our stay, the reservationist was unbelievably rude and unprofessional. Upon arrival, the receptionists had exactly the same attitude. The lobby lounge is empty on peak weekends, which is strange given itâ€™s quite beautiful, though has a bit of a vibe from the movie The Shining. Our group then tried to order at the bar , and had such a frustrating experience we gave up. The waiter sheepishly apologized as we left and admitted the service is a â€śbit of a jungle in this place.â€ť Understatement of the year. The concierges were also rude and not able to get us into a single restaurant we wanted. When we tried ourselves, we were successful. They also sent us to an awful ski shop (they clearly had deal with with them) and upon arrival we encountered only other guests of the hotel. The property itself is very nice, but there are other hotels closer to town and half the cost that are almost as nice. The rooms are lovely, though in need of an upgrade. I suspect this one of those places that doesnâ€™t care about the service because people come once and never return. When we complained, we were consistently met with â€śthis is very strange and unusual.â€ť We met with the general manager upon our departure so he could better understand the issues. He said usually all the groups I described were very nice and that it was unusual. Based on other reviews here I see we werenâ€™t the only ones.
