Relais Il Falconiere & Spa in Cortona, Tuscany, Italy
To arrive at Relais Il Falconaire is to be welcomed home. Riccardo and Silvia Baracchi’s Old World villa, once the home of poet Antonio Guadagnoli, sits on 30 acres of Tuscan countryside filled with olive groves and vineyards, and indeed, a holiday here is an introduction to the Baracchis’ way of life. Join Riccardo on an intimate tour of his wine cellar, or take to the fields with the family to explore the art of falconry. Rooms are opulently restored, with antiques, frescoed walls and wrought iron beds. Between the wafting aromas from the rose garden and the delicacies served at a Michelin-starred restaurant, staying at Il Falconiere a sensory delight.
In a glass-enclosed hillside terrace, savor a breakfast of fresh breads, homemade jam and country cheese served on fine china. Wander through the manicured grounds. At the spa, indulge in an exclusive BiOlv’Experience that infuses warm olive oil, Tuscan lavender and sea salts in a soothing massage ritual. Relish a six-course menu that features roasted rabbit in a light elderberry sauce.

Reviews for Relais Il Falconiere & Spa
Should you contemplate visiting a unique Spa, coupled with a beautiful Hotel, look no further. Set in the lush Italian countryside, above Cortona in Tuscany, it offers everything you could think of - plus many that you may not have thought of. Dating back to the 17thCentury, it has the most up-to-date treatments in the Spa, plus possibility of joining cookery classes, or wine tours. The elegantly appointed suites encourage relaxation amidst unique peace.

Stayed for a couple of nights recently. Location near Cortona is good and estate has great views over the valley. Dinner was exceptionally good. On the second day we booked on the cooking lesson - very enjoyable - you get to prepare and sample several dishes which you can then have for dinner the same evening. However, some reservations over the cooking class environment - firstly the resident bulldog wanders round the prep kitchen, being patted by most of the attendees - who then go straight to rolling out their pasta...plus several of them are sweating buckets (it was very hot) and wiping their sweat with their bare hands then back to rolling out their pasta...hmmm, some health and hygiene concerns here. We ordered a la carte that evening - I didn't fancy eating someone else's sweat-infused pica pasta. However, the experience was enjoyable and Sylvia as head chef was an enthusiastic and joyful host. Room was in a villa - nice but air conditioning was not up to scratch and the furniture could do with an over-haul - and small pool next door was nice but heavily infested with wasps nests - seems the combination of vines and fruit just attracts the wasps and no attempt was made to remove them (although the pool water was tested). Overall, nice place to visit as an experience, its expensive but we knew that before booking, and the staff were helpful and courteous.

I recently celebrated my birthday with friends at Il Falconiere and could not have chosen a more perfect location. The hotel is set amongst a picturesque landscape and offers a Michelin star restaurant with the most amazing terrace as well as beautifully styled rooms. All the hotel staff were extremely courteous and helpful and the owners, Silvia and Riccardo, were very welcoming. It was a truly memorable experience which I will cherish for a very long time. Thanks once again for making us all feel so special.

Although a very nice location, the service and the rooms do not deserve 5 stars. The personnel was not attentive upon our arrival ans at breakfasts. The pool surroundings are not well kept. 4 stars would be ok, with the price lowered to 4 stars also.

A group of us joined our friend to celebrate a recent big birthday. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel extremely welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The location is amazing as are the views. Snr. Baracchi gave us a wine tour which was as colourful as the countryside under the Tuscan light. The restaurant and whole dining experience were stunning as was the wine - complemented by excellent, attentive service. The two pools provided welcome relief from 40+ degree heat. Would love to come back next year.
