An exquisite oceanfront hideaway on Mexico's Pacific coast nestled between Puerto Vallarta and Manzanillo, Las Alamandas resort is one of the world's most romantic retreats. Flanked by more than four miles of breathtaking coastline, the grounds are home to exotic bird sanctuaries, flower, fruit and vegetable orchards, a lagoon and equestrian trails. Run as a private estate, a mere seven villas, house 16 sumptuously decorated suites, each with breeze-swept terraces. Dine on Mexican specialties and continental cuisine on the candlelit terrace of Oasis restaurant, or enjoy casual fare under a lofty thatched palapa.

I have been to many places, beaches and resorts in my life — but none matched the natural beauty and elegance of Las Alamandas—with its effortless sophisticated exclusive atmosphere of jewel box created and preserved as a timeless tiny universe of its own by owner Isabel Goldsmith. The hibiscus color of the Mexican inspired generous architecture, the seemingly endless beach with its white foaming refreshing waves rolling gently onto to the sand, the otherworldly sunrise that carries the light of another planet from outside our observable universe, and the flights of the pelicans in formation above the breaking lines of the sparking waves hunting for tumbling fish are memories no one who was ever there will forget. We met a fellow traveler who has been back over 30 times, since there is no place like Las Alamandas for him. The rooms are beautiful, generous and clean, the hot water pressure just perfect, and the complimentary fresh fruits and cold hibiscus tea carafes were very much appreciated. You should have seen the welcome flower arrangement and special message written with tiny green leaves. The food was excellent, the staff friendly and professional, and the flames of the bonfire at the beach they erected for us during dinner are still burning in my memory. We loved meeting Isabel, who’s angelic presence welcoming us and even sharing a dinner with made this trip so very very special. The decades have been good to this perfectly maintained time capsule of a vision for a tiny luxury boutique resort located inside 2000 acres of wildlife. We felt secure and comfortable, and thanked the universe that Las Alamandas is Las Alamandas—and did not, as planned, become a giant developed beach property that would have destroyed this perfect spot on planet Earth. Isabel talked about encountering a shaman who told her about the spirit of a pirate wandering the Las Alamandas beaches, and of a hidden treasure he once owned. That rate treasure, of course, the place itself. And Isabel is sharing it with the world. Don’t miss it.

What an incredible place! This is truly private bliss. The grounds are gorgeous and immaculate- all of the landscaping is beautiful. The buildings are in great shape and picturesque. Every space was well put together- the pool area is clean, the beach is nice (not great for swimming but the other small beach is better), there’s tons of fun spaces to take advantage of like the game room and tennis courts. There was only one other couple when we were there so it was extremely private! (Albeit felt somewhat less vibey but if you want to get away from everyone- this is your spot). All the staff was so kind and helpful for every little request. As other reviews say, the food is very expensive but it is delicious! Just be prepared to pay the cost of being remote and some fees.

Frequent guests try to keep this beautiful place a secret because it is so special. Lush, tropical setting with colorful villas, discreetly hidden within the plantings; spacious simple rooms with gorgeous ceramics; large, airy, private terraces and jacuzzis for each suite - and always the sound and view of the magnificent Pacific ocean. The dining is exquisite - a brilliant chef! He will prepare anything at your request. Amenities if you like, or complete privacy if you'd rather. And the staff always treats you as an honoured guest.

A great property for travelers who want to disconnect from reality and connect with nature, a place full of peace and tranquility from the moment you arrive. Access to the property can take between 2.5 and 2.5 hours from Puerto Vallarta airport, but the transfer time is well worth it to reach this paradise.

From the moment we arrived at Las Alamandas, we knew we were somewhere extraordinary. The setting is simply breathtaking — miles of untouched Pacific coastline, lush jungle landscapes, and that rare feeling of total privacy and serenity. The natural beauty here isn’t curated or manufactured; it feels wild, authentic, and almost sacred. Every walk along the beach felt like we had discovered our own hidden paradise. The service was impeccable yet effortless. The staff anticipated every need with genuine warmth and grace. Nothing felt scripted or overly formal — just thoughtful, intuitive hospitality at its best. From beautifully prepared meals to seamless logistics around the property, everything flowed perfectly. And then there is Isabel — what a remarkable host. Her presence elevates the entire experience. She makes you feel not like a guest, but like a welcomed friend. Her passion for the property and her attention to detail are evident everywhere you look. There’s a soulful energy here that clearly comes from her vision and care. Las Alamandas is not just a hotel — it’s an experience, a sanctuary, and a place that stays with you long after you leave. We cannot wait to return. Highly, highly recommend.

My wife and I spent five days and four nights at Las Alamandas between Puerto Vallarta and Manzanillo, Mexico, last October. The hotel was exquisite, the service perfection. What made it most special were the extras - roundtrip transfers by private car from Puerto Vallarta and unlimited horseback riding, which we took advantage of every day. The trip of a lifetime...

LAS ALAMANDAS in Mexico — WOW! A magnificient place. Simple but luxurious. Attention to detail from staff - great - and friendly, informal. Oceanview room allowed for not only a terrific "house-at-the-beach" feeling but also close enough to have the ocean waves lull us to sleep each night. A great place to totally get away from it all, with privacy and freedom to just do whatever.
