Dromoland Castle Hotel

WOW - worth the splurge. this hotel is over the top with atmosphere, service, amenities, and location. absolutely beautiful views every direction. acres of grounds to walk, golf, bike, explore. the staff treat you as if you are royalty - absolutely every person we encountered were the same in their treatment. from our check in, and then a personal escort and mini tour by Aiden, drinks in the lounge served by Ian, breakfast served by Clodagh & Cillian, even just sitting in the lobby we were offered water or what else would we care for. I will say the personal escort to show us the lounge areas and then being escorted to our room by Aiden was memorable. he made sure we knew how to work everything in our room. they even have Canadian electrical plugs! Aiden has worked at Dromoland for 21 years - Ian for 26 - longevity like that says so much about the management and endears us to Dromoland that much more. there are many activities at Dromoland, golf being the big one. but there are dozens more: for example 'learn to pull your pint', cast a line in lake, clay pigeon shooting, horse & buggy tours, soundbaths, history tours. and so many more. We signed up for the Hawk Walk -- amazing! these are private tours - so just my husband and I - we had Sara as our guide - her knowledge of the Hawks, Falcons, Owls was illuminating. we got to put on the leather gloves and have Mac the Hawk fly to us, hold the Falcons and Owls. we we able to get up close and personal and learn about these amazing creatures and see their personalities. truly a bucket list activity -

A very poor 2 night stay. 1. Dinner in The Flie ridden Earl of Thomond dinning room was unforgivably disgusting. Who do these people think they are where is the Health and Safety dept. I still feel ill thinking back to this occasion The servers were school going young people not the experienced knowledgeable waiters you expect. The dinner food smacked of very poor ingredients served cold on cold plates and awful. Soggy cold deep fried potato cubes. 2. A young server insisted on giving me all the remaining soggy potato cubes so he didn't have to return to the kitchen. The meat was inedible cold dry and tough. Was a chef in attendance ??. So bad the lead server waiter took the food back we didn't object. 3. Breakfast in the Flie ridden Room was buffet style with cheap sliced Pan bread for toast. The food again was cold & tasteless. We left went into Ennis to get some breakfast food. 4. Dinner 2nd evening We went to the cocktail bar/room to to eat. Again the food was poor.starter was more amuse bouch than entry type Fish was bitty over cooked mess. The desert Apple crumble tennis ball in shape was straight from the fridge and cold. 5.Breakfast 2nd Morning didn't bother Who goes away to eat cheap local shop bought thin Sliced Pan bread toast . 6. The room style we booked was not availabke to us instead we got a smaller two bed bed room ??. We wanted following (2nd) morning waiting to move to the room style we booked. The bathroom had loose floor tiles please note you cannot properly clean loose floor tiles. 7. If you say you are luxury star hotel RESORT and charge accordingly you have to Provide that kevel have to. We have stayed in 5 star hotels all over the world this was by far the worst. School going students as waiters some on their first night, laughable 8. Perhaps as I noticed the hotel is now operating in the one night tour bus (conveyor belt) trade offering bus parking . The management should be ashamed

Our 5 night stay at Dromoland Castle was everything one could hope for in experiencing an Irish castle visit! The castle grounds were grand and varied, with miles of charming woodland and golf course paths to explore, complete with fairy gardens and hermit coves. The castle itself was full of comfortable, cozy and historic nooks and crannies. Our room, to our delight, was spacious and modern. The food at all venues (and we tried them all) was beyond expectations. We were entertained nightly by local troubadours, patiently playing our favorite tunes from the motherland. But what made this stay truly personal and memorable was the extensive, friendly and accommodating staff, each member greeting us with a smile and earnestly seeking to make our time at Dromoland more enjoyable. We had planned to stay 3 nights. The castle accommodated our request to stay an additional 2 nights during a busy wedding and golf season. We were ripped away only by a family wedding in nearby Ennis. Dromoland is soon to undergo extensive renovations. I'm so happy we were able to experience this beautiful and authentic iteration, but we will be back someday to check out the new. Our sincere thank you to the Dromoland staff!

We only had time to spend one night but we loved it here. The grounds are exceptional, the hotel is lovely and the service is top-notch. We felt like royalty.

Dromoland Castle is a very special place, it has a magical feeling with very professional, down to earth staff. We have stayed in many hotels across Ireland and nothing compares. We got engaged and married here, and both our celebrations went flawlessly from start to finish, all thanks to the wonderful team. For our engagement we were treated exceptionally. We soaked up the celebrations of the blazing, cozy fires and genuine words of congratulations from everyone. For our wedding, we had a dinner with family and friends in the Fig Tree the night before. The food, cocktails and service were all exceptional! We had our ceremony in the stunning Terrace Room, drinks reception in the Kincora Hall and reception in the Brian Boru. Throughout the day, the team made us feel relaxed and well looked after, with a team member at every corner willing to help! The morning was calm, with the staff providing breakfast to the bridal suite along with lunch snacks before the ceremony. Each of our vendors were looked after, with several of them commenting on how well they were treated by the team. This speaks volumes about the level of care that goes into a wedding here. Nothing was too big of an ask. The food and drink on our wedding day deserves a special mention. The canapés, meal and evening snacks were delicious, we had so many guests and vendors complimenting the food throughout the night. They could not believe the portions, your guests will not go hungry! We are incredibly grateful for how welcoming the team were to our family and our guests. Our family all want to return! Particularly our niece who summed it up perfectly, 'I just want to stay in the castle for 5 weeks'. Special mention and thanks to Hazel the fabulous wedding co-ordinator. Hazel is professional and personable, she made it feel like we were planning our wedding with a close friend who offered honest, informed and very helpful tips and tricks. Fiona Gielty, who has the patience of a saint arranging our guests accommodation.The bridal suite along with the suite for the groom were stunning, spacious and practical for getting ready & wedding photo opportunities. Sophie from the management team who is so attentive to every detail and made the whole experience calm, enjoyable and special! Aoife G who looked after us on the wedding day, was wonderful and made us feel so well cared for throughout the day. John & Mike, the porters who made sure each of our guests were welcomed and departed with a smile on their face. If you are considering Dromoland Castle for your wedding, do not hesitate to book it! The value you get for the quality of the food and drink, the setting, the overall experience and the genuine level of care is fantastic. From the moment we got engaged to the moment we left after our wedding celebrations, we felt incredibly lucky to be there.
