This place is truly worth a visit. The guest rooms are completely kitted out, with luxe bathtub, giant walk-in shower, large dressing room and incredibly comfortable beds. The grounds include horses, several beautiful mapped walks, and an outstanding golf course. The hotel itself has several restaurant options, but my favorite room is the main bar, Terrifically high ceilings, elegant, yet comfortable furnishing, warm lighting and beautiful artwork. All of the bartenders we met were outstanding, especially Mike, who could make any cocktail order thrown his way. A must-visit if you are in east Cork, and a must-stay if you have the time.

I had a wonderful stay (girls weekend) recently in the hotel. The breakfast and service was great. The definite highlight was the spa and the afternoon tea service. It was a perfect stay. Be sure to book any treatment and reservation in advance, as we met a number of people who couldn't get a late booking.

Castlemartyr is a beautiful resort hotel. The grounds and golf club are very well tended too. Our bedroom was huge with views on to the golf club. The bathroom was full of marble and mirrors. Great Swiss made hairdryer and amazing shower. We collected a walking map of the grounds from the Reception and enjoyed a gentle stroll on a sunny morning. The spa facilities are perfect and great that children can only use the pool at certain hours. The highlight of our stay was a carriage round around the estate and learnt more of the history of Castelmartyr. There is an Oska outlet shop in the High Street if any females fancy a little retail therapy. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

Spent one night here on a girlie getaway! Stayed in room 34. Check in was efficient, not particularly friendly. Bedroom was definitely 5 star. Large, comfie, very muted relaxing decor. Beds were superbly comfie with high quality bed linen. Bathroom very large and opulent. Bath however leaked which left large puddles on floor. Fabulous , very well maintained grounds, lots of lovely walks. Cap park very far from hotel.Had dinner in Italian. Delicious, lovely staff who seated us away from children in restaurant. I made use of leisure centre early next morning. Classic, very relaxing and quiet. Dedicated limited hours for children which was good for me, maybe not so good for families. Lovely toiletries in changing areas. Molton and Browne . Breakfast was a big let down. Very mediocre. Bacon obviously sitting cooked for quite a while. For €25, very poor value and def not 5* quality. Check out was fine. Lovely stay, will return but please improve breakfast.

Had a very unfriendly check in - zero iteration/acknowledgement with our child thought they advertise a special check in for kids. And if that was where is stopped it would have been ok but it wasn't We'd booked a suite - it had dirty carpets, walls and no towels for our daughter who we'd paid extra for being there - when reception was called & we explained we were only given 2 towels - the response "So do you want more?"!!!!!!!!!!! The power did not work in the plug sockets on arrival and we'd to ring 3 times during our 5 night stay as the power kept going - which for my husband using his medical device which requires power was a big issue - and not one you should experience in a 5 star resort. There were lots of other things that happened through out a short stay - including the hall roof badly leaking and the hallway being covered in towels that all in all did not make this a 2 start experience let alone 5 star experience. I will say the spa and pool facilities were lovely. But I would never ever go back.
