The best features of the hotel were the pool and thermal suite. Plenty of lockers to store your belongings while you relax in the pool or jacuzzi. We had the 5 course tasting menu 1 night included in the price of our stay. We had a lovely time in the Bell Tower restaurant. Overall we didn't feel the hotel was reflective of a 5 star stay as the room fittings were a bit tatty. For example there was a piece of a picture frame broken off in the room, the door frame shook as you closed the door to the room and there were multiple scrapes/pieces of wood missing from the door frames of guest rooms. We felt that the toiletries were unpleasantly scented and of poor quality. We chose to use toiletries by "the handmade soap company" which we had left over from a previous hotel stay at another hotel. We arrived on Saturday for 2 nights. During our stay the carpet on the stairs between floors was not vacuumed and was visibly in need of vacuuming from day 1. Would just expect this of any hotel but very disappointing of a 5 star. Overall we had the most wonderful time in Cork but we felt the hotel was more reflective of a 4 star hotel rather than 5 star.

We were so looking forward to our stay in this hotel but many of the aspects let us down to be honest. We were asked to wait on check in despite it being over an hour past when we could have checked in. As part of the deal we had we should have been staying in a suite but there was no availability. The food in the bell tower was average with a very limited menu. The bed in the room was very comfortable but the decorative pillows had large stains on all of them at the back. What I was most disappointed in was the state that the horses at the hotel were in. I realise the weather has not been great but all of them had muck caked into their coats and their reigns. My partner was very excited about the golf course but it was so waterlogged on the day that it was almost impossible to play on and he had no warning from the golf shop that this was the case. The bar staff were very friendly especially one gentleman in particular who had just started on Friday (didn't get his name but he has just moved back from new york).

What a great place to stay with excellent service , food to die for and a spa and fitness room of a very high standard. On arrival we were greeted by guest Relations Manager Trevor Sheehan who looked after our every need. The general management and staff were very professional and friendly and the rooms were spotless and had everything you need including unlimited wi fi Room service was good and on time. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and close to the sea. Could not be better

Just back from our 3rd stay in Castlemartyr. Yet again it was fantastic. It is a really lovely hotel but for me it is the staff that make the place and the fact we recognised so many from our previous stays, I take as a good sign. I cannot recommend this place enough for any couple with a young family. The staff are extremely accommodating and understanding making it quite child friendly.

We stayed mid week this time which was a change , hotel was quiet and we found it very relaxing from the moment we arrived. Our room was ready and got upgraded to a large room (room 14) which had a large sleeping area , walk in wardrobe with a large bathroom. It was really very nice and we were so comfortable for our stay! The beds are so comfortable we had the best sleep. We had lunch in the golf club for a change and this was very nice as the views are lovely and so is the food. The lady That served us was very friendly and she was excellent. Dinner in Franchini’s was delicious as usual and staff were very efficient and pleasant. Breakfast was delicious with a large range available in buffet area and in the order menu, we sat at the window and the view was beautiful! Staff at breakfast were so pleasant. We also availed of room service during our stay and I can highly recommend the chocolate fondant with salted caramel ice cream it won’t disappoint! Castlemartyr is really a lovely relaxing stay and the grounds and walks around are very nice. The one suggestion I would make is that it would be nice to have the option to use the spa facilities such as the vitality pool and relaxation rooms at a fee if you are not getting Spa treatments as it might be a more relaxing option for guests rather than using the main pool. We will be returning without a doubt and would recommend to anyone if they are looking for relaxation , good food and luxury! Also the cocktails are a must have during your stay.
