Reviews for Castlemartyr Resort

Five stars does not feel like enough for Castlemartyr Resort.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 8 hours ago

This was our first trip to Europe, and we chose Ireland to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Somehow, almost by accident, we stumbled across Castlemartyr Resort, a breathtaking five-star resort in County Cork set on 220 acres beside the ruins of an approximately 800-year-old castle and a beautifully restored 18th-century manor house. We booked our week expecting something special, but we had no idea just how far this place would exceed every expectation. From the moment we arrived, the resort was stunning in every way. The grounds were beautifully maintained, the flowers were real and vibrant, the countryside was peaceful, the golf course was gorgeous, and every walk around the property felt like stepping into a storybook. We stayed in one of the resort residences, and it was perfect for the week. It was spacious, classy, comfortable, beautifully equipped, and thoughtfully prepared with a welcome hamper that helped us settle in right away. Every detail made us feel cared for. We were also fortunate to be there during the Art + Soul exhibition, which added even more beauty to an already unforgettable setting. Seeing artwork and sculptures throughout the grounds made the experience feel even more special. But as incredible as the property, history, rooms, gardens, food, and amenities were, what truly set Castlemartyr apart from anywhere else we have ever visited was the people. The hospitality was above and beyond in every possible way. This trip was deeply meaningful for my wife and me because I was planning a surprise vow renewal for our 25th anniversary. As a husband trying to plan what felt like a small destination wedding overseas, halfway around the world, I had no idea where to begin. I reached out blindly to Ala Wojcik, Wedding & Events Co-Ordinator, explained what I hoped to do, and she took it from there. Ala and the Castlemartyr team helped make every detail come together flawlessly. They helped connect me with celebrant Marian Dooley, coordinated with photographers, worked with the village florist, and made sure the flowers matched the colors and style from our original wedding. Timea Lakatosova, Trainee Manager, helped facilitate the flower arrangement, and every detail was handled with such care that I never felt like I was planning alone. They thought of things I would never have known to ask about. Nothing was overlooked. We hoped to have the ceremony outside on the grounds near the castle and garden area, and the team even had a backup plan ready in case it rained. On the day of the ceremony, everything was absolutely beautiful. We were greeted beforehand with the flowers, and immediately afterward the staff welcomed us with champagne. They helped arrange our dinner afterward, and even during dinner, Trevor Sheehan, the Guest Relations Manager, came by our table personally to make sure everything was perfect. That is what made this place so extraordinary. The resort itself is beautiful enough to earn five stars, but the people are what made it unforgettable. Their kindness, attentiveness, warmth, and genuine hospitality turned our first trip to Europe and our 25th anniversary vow renewal into one of the most meaningful experiences of our lives. Every detail of Castlemartyr Resort was beautifully executed, from the landscape to the accommodations to the service. But more than anything, we will remember how the staff made us feel. They helped create a moment that my wife and I will cherish forever. Castlemartyr Resort exceeded our wildest expectations in every category. We left feeling grateful, blessed, and honestly overwhelmed by how special the entire experience was. I cannot thank Ala Wojcik, Timea Lakatosova, Trevor Sheehan, Marian Dooley, and the entire Castlemartyr team enough. If you are considering staying here, especially for a special occasion, do it. Castlemartyr Resort is not just a beautiful place to stay. It is a place where memories are made with extraordinary care.

Beautiful Stay

We had a fantastic stay at Castlemartyr Resort. The staff were wonderful from start to finish — so accommodating, and they even arranged taxis/transportation for us, which was a huge help. The property itself is gorgeous and clearly very well managed — beautifully kept grounds throughout. Our room was large and comfortable, and the restaurants were a real highlight — every meal was delicious. It's also a quick walk into the nearby village if you need to pick anything up. Highly recommend Castlemartyr for anyone looking for a relaxing, beautifully run resort in Ireland. We'd return in a heartbeat!

Beautiful 5* Resort

We have stayed at Castlemartyr Resort a couple of times. It never fails to dissapoint us from the minute you enter the gates, driving through the beautifully manicured grounds. We always get a warm welcome at reception on arrival. This time we were greeted by a lovely member of staff called Ellen both on arrival & departure. Ellen was so welcoming & very professional. The hotel is super clean throughout serving beautiful food in all of its restaurants & bars. There are lots of facilities for everyone from Golf, Tennis, Gym & Espa Spa. We highly recommend this 5* resort for families, couples & of course a beautiful wedding venue.

Excellent service and overall hospitality, Terre is one of the best dinners you’ll ever have, the grounds are beautiful and the kiddos loved feeding the horses, great paths for walking and easy to get into town for a beer or groceries.
