Lovely weekend away. Staff all very helpful, discerning and polite. Of the two restaurants The bell tower was an excellent 5 stars. Food was really top notch in taste, in presentation and delivery. Not bad value either. Lovely surrounding too. Breakfast too was good, help yourself and good quality. The Italian restaurant was ok just very average food. However staff were pleasant and attentive. Our suite was lovely although smaller than i had envisioned. It had everything we needed. What really made it special was our couples joint massage in our special couples room with personal sauna and whirl pool. We loved this so much. Would definitely do again. Also there are nice gardens to walk around and a small village to walk into.

5 Star without the often pomposity that meets you on arrival at comparative properties. We came for a much needed break. We came away expecting to return. The chef in the Belltower was creative, imaginative and the service was outstanding. The friendly staff throughout, left us feeling appreciated as we took advantage of the many amenities on offer. We read a review complaining of a “chip” on the coffee mug in their room... we laughed at the chip on two coffee mugs in our room and enjoyed drinking from the comfort and class of real pottery that may in time, chip. Returning.

Generally, this is a lovely hotel in a nice location, and whilst our experience was greatly enhanced by the 100% warm and friendly staff (in all disciplines), we were a little bit disappointed by one or two minor issues. As explained to staff at check-out, it is the little things that make such a difference! If you have provided the very nice added luxury of electrically powered curtains, it is very frustrating that one has to spend 20 minutes fiddling around to unjam them and get them to work properly - - and no, it wasn't our inability - -it has been complained about by others before us! And whilst there was a nice display of tea and coffee items, there was nowhere to plug the kettle into anywhere near the display because nearly every socket in the room was the old fashioned round pin sockets, and very few modern square pin sockets - very frustrating! We also noted other folks comments about the hotel being a bit on the cool side, but luckily we prefer cool to hot, but you might not !! The food menu in the Knights bar was a little restricted, and whilst the main Bell Tower restaurant menu was acceptable, the food itself was not up to the prices charged. I had a fillet steak - sadly the toughest one I've ever had - but it came with almost nothing except a very large dollop of mashed potato! That did not enhance my enjoyment, and most certainly did not reflect the heavy price charged, even although the price supplement was 'waived' when I made a comment about the poor quality steak. Luckily our stay was financed as a 'thank you' Christmas present from a grateful family member, and whilst we did enjoy our stay overall, it did not represent 5 star 'care and consideration', even although, as mentioned, all the staff were very warm and friendly! However, if you take advantage of one of their quite well discounted special offers, this hotel becomes much more attractive, and it then becomes better value for money.

We had a great stay at Castlemartyr this weekend. When our original room wasn't what we wanted it was no problem for us to have a different one. All staff were lovely. Trevor looked after us so well and Karolina in the Bell Tower was a lovely friendly waitress. Spa was amazing, our room was gorgeous, all in all a lovely stay.

We arrived and availed of the Valet parking service. We were early and our room wasn't ready so we went to the bar for lunch. The porter came to the bar with our room keys and advised us that our bags had been delivered to the room ! Great Service. Our Junior Suite on the 3rd floor was very nice, big and spacious. We dined in the Bell Tower and as there were 5 of us, on a birthday night away, we were a little noisy for the other customers dining. We hope they enjoyed their meal regardless, as we did, the food was very nice. Trevor looked after us very well and Nicola loves her Castlemartyr Teddy Bear ! The hotel really is very nice. A little tired in spots, but overall very nice. We will definitely be back.
