Far outside Cork, there is a little town called Castlemartyr. Its very pastiche, but houses a golf course on the grounds of the hotel. It feels like a club house driving up to, but offers nice walks and controlled traffic and is good for both resting as exercise. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the hotel is spotless. For the rooms, they are very good size and very luxurious, electronic controls from the bedside table for all objects in the room, lighting, curtains and anything you need manipulating. The beds are comfortable and very good. The breakfast is served in a dining hall with good views and comfortable chairs. This hotel is well worth a stay when travelling around cork, but as with many places around cork, having a car is a requirement.

Our room was very nice but our experience not so. The main problem was our attempt to eat on our second night. We had a meal in Francinis the previous night but it was very average, so we weren’t returning We tried to book The Bell Tower but this was fully booked- no problem with this. We decided instead we’d pop down to The Clubhouse and have the fish & chips there. We had a nice relaxing few drinks and arrived at the Clubhouse at 7.55 only to be told they had stopped serving food at 7.45. In the hotel book it says food is served till 9pm in The Clubhouse! So, we had no options left- the main restaurant was booked out, we didn’t like the Italian and now the flippin Clubhouse had refused us! We have ended up in our room sharing two hotel biscuits!! We would also describe our breakfast experience as average We shall not be returning!!

Lovely drive up to hotel and great valet parking. Nice welcome at reception with quick service and no problems at all. Our junior suite was amazing and decorated to a very high standard. Breakfast was delicious. Also staff in the bar were friendly and very good service. Junior suites are an incredible distance away from reception. Bar needs music or something in the background as a little bit of a dead atmosphere.
