The key to this hotel is location. Walk across the street and you are in the park. Park has kilometers of walking trails both paved and natural. Torc falls and ubiquitous horse drawn carts. They are situated outside of town away from the throngs of tourists. Hotel has breakfast in your room rate. It is both buffet and eggs made to order. Spa and dip pool in the building. Parking can be limited as they book a lot of weddings. Weddings can have noise that spills into your room if you face the banquet hall/parking lot side of complex. Two restaurant venues. One is pub with music some nights. Other serves high end four or five course fare. This town has more hotels than Dublin. Then there are the B&B's. To put numbers to the tourists, town has 14000 inhabitants and can reach 60000 tourists. Like roundabouts? - think huge tourist buses, cars, bikes, and walkers. This is part of gateway to Ring of Kerry. A tip: laundry in town center/edge - at roundabout called Safe Hands does wash and fold. Small USA washer load is 18 euro . Takes 24 hours to complete.

Walking across the street from the hotel right into the park was the most relaxing and leisurely entrance getting eventually to the Muckross House and Gardens. The hotel staff here were my absolute favorites while traveling throughout Ireland. If you get a chance to have a chat with Danny, don't pass that up because he is knowledgeable and could have been a comedian for his wages. The spa was just as luxurious as the room, the dining and the breakfast offerings. Check into this hotel once and it will remain in your heart forever.

Just finishing a three day stay at this lovely hotel. With rental car problems, we likely spent more time actually AT the hotel than most visitors and had the pleasure of using all of their wonderful facilities, enjoying the restaurants, and seeing the sites nearby. We were in room 140, which was spotlessly clean and had every amenity one could wish for. The terrace overlooked a garden and a small river and was furnished with a table and 4 chairs. I used the spa facilities which were very pretty. (Pool was delightfully warm and fun with"jacuzzi chairs" but not really swimmable because of the decorative shape). Spa treatments were quite nice and well priced. We even used their laundry service, which was same day and very well priced at 6 kg of laundry for 20 Euros. Breakfast was included in the rate and was very good, buffet as well as ordering off cooked to order menu. I had fresh cooked salmon each day. One very nice feature was that room service was available with no surcharge, in either the price increases that one frequently experiences nor in an additional fee. That is a great benefit at the end of a long day, particularly when you have such a lovely room! Saving the best for the last though, was the friendly, patient, and attentive service. Adrian at the front desk was particularly great!

From the road this hotel is not over appealing but once you drive it it is stunning. The staff were welcoming, helpful, friendly and chatty. Our room was clean, bright, very comfortable and spacious I did not want to leave.
