We booked a tour of Peru staying only at Belmond Hotels and the Belmond Palacio Nazarenas was one of the four Belmond properties we stayed at. My family booked EVERYTHING directly with 'Belmond Journeys In Peru' and I feel certain that Belmond in Peru are easily the best solution for putting together the perfect complete itinerary...they have to be far and away the most knowledgeable with the best contacts to create the perfect luxury trip to Peru. Nobody knows Peru better and they are brilliantly organised. I had first contacted Belmond Hotels in London and I was put in touch with the most terrific and knowledgeable lady at Belmond in Peru, Ursula Tidow, who looked after all arrangements and tailor-made a fantastic itinerary for us. I often like to take care of itineraries myself, arranging everything as I find I do it better than my concierge service (who I will not name). Don't even think about doing it yourself in to Ursula or to one of her colleagues and you will get the best out of your adventure in Peru. Ursula arranged for us to be met/taken to all airports, we never once had to even touch our luggage, she arranged all dinners (both at Belmond and other fantastic properties), tours everywhere at every destination...such as a horse show at the Hacienda Los Ficus (which by chance turned out to be totally private, just for us and was so excellent we did it a second time); all of our tours we're handled with the most superb guides who all had university degrees and could go into as much depth on historical subjects as needed...and we did. As part of our tour of Peru, we arrived for a two night stay at Belmond Palacio Nazarenas on Christmas Eve. On arrival we were met and warmly greeted by Mr Arturo Schwarz who is the general manager. I want to pay tribute to Arturo in this review as he heads a hotel which is so far beyond all expectations that it really is off the scale. We have never stayed anywhere like this before. The nearest hotel that comes to mind which gets even close is the Finca Cortesin property in Southern Spain and that has a golf club, a beach resort, various restaurants and massive grounds whereas the Belmond Palacio Nazarenas is a city hotel...but not just any city hotel...for sheer class, luxury, excellence throughout, quality, wonderful staff, ambience, comfort...EVERYTHING...this has to be the best city hotel I have ever stayed at...and I have stayed at a few hundred city hotels over the past 40+ years. It is probably beyond comparison. What I had not realised before arriving, is that right next door, Belmond own a second hotel, the Belmond Monasterio. We visited for a look around...and I was gobsmacked! This was also absolutely amazing. If you can't decide which one to stay is the difference: Monasterio...much bigger, more of a 'buzz' and perhaps too much buzz for some people who may prefer a quieter feel. It depends on what you are after. I would have loved to have also stayed there. In fact a few days in each hotel at the start and end of the trip would have been perfection. Also, walking from hotel reception directly into their beautiful church was simply awe inspiring. We were in Cusco over Christmas and this hotel had the celebratory atmosphere. Nazarenas...smaller, yet extremely grand. Eceptionally classy, more sedate and yet they covered Christmas very well. At 5pm on Christmas Eve they had a Christmas Mass at their church in their hotel next door (Capilla San Antonio Abad) then Christmas Day started with a children's choir by the pool terrace during breakfast with Santa Claus following delivering presents (sadly my children considered themselves to grown-up to meet Santa). Our suites were absolutely lavish. I think we were upgraded to the Palacio Suite as it was huge, circa 1400 sq ft and it interconnected with one of our other smaller suites...however all of our accommodation including a single bedroom for our son, was absolutely beautiful. The hotel itself is in the most pristine condition possible, for a historic building, this was quite surprising. No other hotel operator could better this...or the sister hotel next door. Walking around the property was a delight, with surprises at every turn, a true visual feast. As were the sounds and the small of the hotel...all wonderful. Breakfasts and the restaurants...first class. Absolutely lovely. I sometimes find that hotel restaurants can't compete with great local restaurants but this is not the case with Belmond in Cusco. Don't hesitate in booking and dining at the restaurants in both properties. I look out for and notice hotel security wherever I stay...and at this hotel security is first rate and headed by Jesus S. Guzman Mendivil, a terrific guy and he is everywhere. I was also most impressed with Daniel Olivera who is the butler supervisor...but all of the staff are the very best in their field. What a GREAT hotel...I would describe it as the jewel in the crown however Belmond tend to operate fantastic hotels, all in exceptional locations...I wonder if anyone has visited them all? I'm now up to 9 and while all are special, the Belmond Palacio Nazarenes made me smile from beginning to end. And their little (and not so little) Christmas welcome touches were a joy...but I shall not describe everything. Go and stay and discover. I shall only mention the nativity scene created for us in our suite by a local artiste...amazing. Thank you Arturo, thank you Ursula and thank you Belmond. Simply wonderful.

A great 4 night stay in room 227, wonderful service from every single staff member - they even remembered that my husband and I had different last names and used them consistently (that is always confusing for hotels when we travel). Our best nights sleeping from our 13 night trip - loved the pillow menu, we tried 4 different pillows. Felt like valued guests. Be sure to explore all of the courtyards in the hotel. Loved the coca, cacao and Muna teas they offered! Outstanding breakfast buffet, dinner, lunch, drinks. Staff really went above and beyond to ensure we were happy. Delicious dishes and bread options during all meals. Live music was delightful. Our other favorite meal was at MAP caf├ę across the plaza. Fine dining and great service, live music, great value and many options. Reservation was essential. A good lunch at ChiCha mostly because I wanted to try Suspira and they had a sampler of 4 - yum. Went at noon with no reservation, no problem, Excellent cooking class with Chef Jose at Marcello Batatta just a block from hotel - not inexpensive but really worth it to better understand Peruvian cuisine. We used the Spa and had exceptional massages. Loved the spa space. The pedicures are not as special as the room is not set up with the right permanent furniture and the poor staff members have your feet in their laps - not great for them or the guest. We could not have been happier with our choice to stay at this hotel - every element was top notch from start to finish.

This is really a gem of a hotel in all aspect of luxury hospitality. The grounds are magnificently restored, rooms are large and charmingly romantic at the same time, service is top notch (kudos to Daniel, the head concierge who went out of his way to help us with our Machu Picchu tickets), location is perfect... Only the restaurant was a bit disappointing, although we only tried lunch so not a definitive comment. Far and above the best option in Cusco (and vastly better than next door sister property Monasterio).

We had a fabulous stay at the Palacio Nazarenes. Everyone on the staff was genuinely kind and knowledgable, and went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. I would recommend this hotel to everyone I know. It feels exclusive and private but not stuffy. We loved absolutely every aspect about the hotel, such as the decor of the room, the pool, the food at the restaurant...everything was beautiful. Miguel was our assigned staff member and he did an excellent job and was so friendly and helpful.

My stay at this hotel made our trip even more perfect than we could imagine! Not only was the hotel beautiful, but the people and the service is what made it so wonderful. The people went above and beyond! From breakfast, making sure your coffee was perfect, as well as the rest of your food and choices, to making pisco sours for us one evening, in our room, it was all unbelievable and wonderful. If we had a question about where to shop for anything, they gave us excellent choices. My son wanted to try the cuy, so they suggested a great place in San Blas. They were right , it was wonderful. After our hike up Waynapiccuhu, I was rather sore, so I tried their spa. I am so glad I did. It was so relaxing, and she worked the soreness out, which made my next day, a traveling day, so much more comfortable. I would highly recommend this hotel, as well as it's sisters hotels, in Lima and at Machu Picchu.
