Incredible Experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Just a fantastic experience. The room was spectacular, bed was super comfortable, room size was excellent and the bathroom was terrific. Hotel staff are fantastic, especially the bartenders in the bar. Very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant is amazing. Beautiful rooms, and delicious menu with extremely helpful staff. I would come back to Dallas just to spend a few days here. Such a treat.

Classic comfort and warm hospitality in Dallas

Warm hospitality and impeccable service. Beautiful public spaces. Our room was elegant and very comfortable with superb service. The restaurant was terrific- make sure to get a table in the old library. Concierge team headed by Mary were exceptional. Highly recommend this classic, beautiful hotel.

Needs a lot

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

My third time here, and likely my last. They did however give me a great room assignment based off of the preference call that I made prior to arrival. I am noise sensitive and they assigned me an end-room on the top floor; the entire four day stay was peaceful. And head Concierge Mary is the gem of the hotel; so personable and caring. The front, outside services team is leaps and bounds better than my stay a couple of years ago. Steve was wonderful as were the rest- all very proactive, friendly and welcoming. Again, a big difference from a couple years ago. And they still offer the Lexus driving program which is a great perk of staying at the Mansion, Dallas There was a horrific smell throughout the top floor guest hallway, especially towards the end where my room was. I went down two floors to check if all hallways smelled like this now, and that wasn’t the case. I can’t believe the staff did not notice this nor do anything about it for days. Additionally, the hallway by the gym has old worn carpet, which is a couple years past its replacement requirement, and I just don’t know how they think this is OK. Also smells bad when you enter the locker rooms by the gym. And then for the gym; it is no where near adequate enough for a hotel of the stature that the Mansion once had. A couple aloof, gentlemen that work at the desks in the lobby. This is not necessary, nor appreciated. My first night there I ordered room service and after almost an hour, waiting- at nearly 10 PM, I called and they said it was minutes away. The next morning I called and asked them to please escalate and maybe do something about the charges and they never did, because at check-out they were still there, and I had to request them to be reviewed and possible adjusted. The hotel is in such a wonderful, quiet location right outside the city center in beautiful Turtle Creek and it’s a shame that it’s not quite what it could be.

Stay Elsewhere. Not the Same Hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

The service here is terrible as well as food and accommodations. The AC in my room did not work. Guests can't control temp. Room service takes hours. They attempted to deliver when I never ordered. Place is chaos. Staff extremely rude too. I tried calling a number of times to get help. Just doesn't exist. They told me that the AC would be changed centrally. They never did it. Quality of food is terrible too. Everything has been cheapened and is not prepared well. When I ordered, dinner it took almost two hours. The person who took my order told me to be patient. They were changing shifts so she might get to it maybe not. This is not typical Mansion Service. I think this hotel has changed leadership or ownership. The hotel used to have great service. Doesn't exist anymore. Prices are ridiculous for service delivered.

If you have any pet allergy, DO NOT STAY HERE

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 7 months ago

If you have any pet allergy, DO NOT STAY HERE. My wife, daughter, and I stayed for the last two nights in room 718, booked through American Express Fine Hotel & Resorts. There was a terrible pet odor in our room upon arrival, and we asked to change rooms to a pet free room. We were told that was impossible because all rooms are pet friendly. We asked to change to a room that had not had pets in it for a longer period of time. We were told that was not possible because the hotel was fully committed. At the front desk, we were offered a "deep clean" including shampooing, which in our experience can't be done during a stay without making matters worse. We were twice promised phone calls from the MOD (I made the assumption that meant Manager on Duty). Not such call was ever made. My feeling is that it was an insult to the hotel's staff to complain about animal dander in any way shape or form. There is a pet bed at the hotel front entrance. I am a pet lover and have both dogs and cats at home; however they sleep outside. Otherwise the staff was A+ and greeting me by name at breakfast at 7am. I was unable to sleep in the room the night before due to the allergies. So go there for food and ambience, but if you cannot sleep in the hotel bed for which you paid, is that really the hotel for you? It feels like a complete scam and ripoff.
