Don’t recommend for family travel. No question that the cliffside perspective of this hotel is spectacular...but the hotel doesn’t provide the value for the steep price tag. This would be a nice hotel for a corporate event, but options for families are limited starting with the dining. The one more casual restaurant, 380 blue, was packed all weekend and was first come first serve which made casual dining choices limited to the snack bar. I was surprised that the pool bar and restaurant were not open while we were there, especially given that it was a busy holiday weekend. The rooms were fine, but to me, not worth the steep price. We upgraded to an ocean front room only to have the lawn below occupied by a corporate event, a yoga class and a wedding which made it awkward to sit outside and enjoy the view. Little things that you would expect were consistently overlooked; no turndown service on both nights we were there, mirrors in the bathroom fog up when you have a shower because there are no fans in the bathrooms. This hotel is truly lovely, but it lacks the attention to detail that would make it worthy of the price, especially for a large family.

To start off, I’ve been to a few Ritz in Asia and I have to say they might have set the bar a bit too high. This Laguna Beach Ritz has killer views, but overall it is underwhelming at best. Service: Our bellman was awesome but it stopped there. First of all, the gentleman that checked us in didn’t address me by my last name twice during check in. Not that I’m mad about that, but I know it’s the standard Marriott practice because one of my best friends interned there for a summer. I just think it’s kind of funny. In addition, I was pretty shocked that they don’t have any hair ties available. Even some of the lower tier hotels have hair ties in the restroom. Also, housekeeping never came after we requested combs. To make things a bit worse, valet didn’t pull up our car to the front when we checked out because “it’s easier if you just walk down that way.” Yea thanks, not much different from self parking after I paid $40 for this. Room: Really really outdated and overpriced. My standard room at Ritz Hong Kong was maybe only twice as big with way nicer furniture. But more importantly, I swear the restroom at my parents’ house is nicer than the ones here. It doesn’t have a separate bathtub and shower, and the shower doesn’t have a giant rain shower head + a removable one. I also don’t like the fact that the toilet doesn’t have any vents we could turn on. I know I’m being picky and spoiled by the ridiculously nice hotels in Asia, but the Ritz in Hong Kong and Shanghai have toilets with bidet where the seat covers automatically open for you!!! Not the case here, unfortunately. Food: A few years ago I dined at Raya and the outdoor bar during the July 4th weekend. Both are solid but not out of the world amazing. I much preferred the restaurants at Montage (plus the view at Montage is nicer IMO). However, the steakhouse was a hit. We couldn’t get a res but we ordered steak with room service and the truffle mac was absolutely delicious. The food from marketplace was alright and nothing spectacular. I was able to stay here for free with my friend with Marriott points, but I definitely wouldn’t pay $600 for something this underwhelming. As a Marriott gold member I still love the brand but this resort is definitely a huge miss.

i have stayed at many lovely hotels, but never have I wanted to go back to a place JUST for the hotel. The wonderful experience started on check in with a beautiful hotel, and lovely staff, from valet, to front desk, to porter. Heres the difference between a good hotel and a great hotel. Good: Is there any thing else I can get you? Great: You will probably enjoy the beach later, I've put some extra water on the desk for you. What the staff imparted was a genuine desire to help people, and make their guests comfortable, and give a worry free experience. The room we had faced the ocean, with its own fire pit. Every day, we would watch the surfers, just below us. every evening we put our feet up, toes warmed by the fire, and watched the sun set. the room was graciously decorated, and a stunning marble bathroom that looked strait out of the 30's. In a beautiful, and stunning way, with double vanity, beveled mirrors and separate water closet. just a few steps out our door, and we were walking thru the elegant gardens, down a steep cliff, and on the beach , no roads , parking lots or obstructions separating us from the water. Yoga, provided by the hotel, every morning, overlooking the ocean, followed by a steam or sauna in the small, but lovely, and extraordinarily clean spa. We wanted for nothing. If there was a slight chill, the room had two extra throws, if we wanted extra coffee, a mere mention. All of this comes at a steep price, but for three days, three days of our life, we felt in another world.

I was looking for a retreat not far from L.A. Someone recommended Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel but I was a little apprehensive as they'd also recommended a resort I had a bad experience with and ended up sick twice. So, I was concerned that I may experience disappointment in the investment. BOY was I ever pleasantly turned around and VERY quickly. So, I had read reviews on this resort before going. Honesty this place has it DOWN to a perfect A-lister "T". I was there alone and had a very specific experience in mind. I got that and MORE. Not only did the Ritz make me feel as though I had been romanced by some invisible Prince Charming following me at every turn and corner but they also exceeded service, quality and integrity in the handling of their guest. Me. EVERY single staff member from housekeeping to Concierge were STELLAR. I don't say STELLAR lightly. I wasn't stressed a single moment while I was there. I felt as though someone there had popped into my head, figured out my needs and said to themselves "why settle for her needs alone lets exceed them" and catered to my every desire and more. I was hypersensitive going in due to what happened at my last getaway and they handled my allergies and concerns about them with a fine tooth comb. They even made sure to explain if a bread was perhaps made in a facility with almonds in it, that they can't fully determine that it's almond free etc. Anything made onsite the staff and servers had carefully gone through items with their kitchen and chef to ensure I was getting no almond in or near my food. For someone with allergies a little amount can make them sick. They made absolute certain I was in the clear. The food was delicious. The fruit and vegetables were rich with flavor as well. I eat organic at home and they source their foods from local farmers markets. Fish is included in the menu only when it makes sense with sustainability. This was a perfect experience in every aspect, direction and nuance. I don't know why all the off putting reviews about the decor. The decor is beautiful and refreshing. So tired of seeing the same ole, same ole trying to be modern and it comes across cold and far too masculine. This ritz is CLASSIC and CLASSY. A walk or shuttle to the beach where one can take in a superb sunset whilst breathing in that ocean air. Thank you.

Wow! Wow! Wow! We were treated like rock stars. From the time we stepped foot on the property, the service was outstanding. Everyone that we came in contact with treated us like royalty. My husband had an odd request and the concierge didn't even flinch. She was a true professional!!! The hotel is absolutely gorgeous. The views, the amenities, the location, the food, everything was first rate. We had a beautiful room with an ocean view. I would go back in a second. i didn't want to leave. I wished I could live there.
