Reviews for InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort

The best place in Danang! Maybe even in all of Vietnam...

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 10 hours ago

After a few days in another 5-star hotel, we were looking for a perfect end to our Vietnam vacation - and we found it! The pictures and the positive reviews made us curious and we were not disappointed. It really is an oasis in the hotel jungle of Vietnam:-) The journey from Danang airport takes about 35 minutes and costs around 400,000 VHD. We could already see several monkeys on the roadside on the drive to the hotel. Of course THE highlight for our son! And for us too, the biodiversity in this "jungle" was one of the decisive criteria for this hotel! Monkeys on the balcony, where else can you find that? The welcome was very warm and check-in didn't take long. Then it was off to the room in the buggy! Super stylish, everything you need was there! Nice big towels, great rain shower (water pressure too) and very special little touches like the typical Vietnamese hats, flip flops and bag for the beach. In short, everything was perfect! On the way to the beach, we discovered another highlight - the cable car! It takes you from the top area (Heaven) to the beach (Sea) in no time at all. The view is breathtaking! And the beach also met almost all our "requirements":-) Large, comfortable loungers with enough space between them so that everyone has their privacy. And enough loungers to choose from at any time of day. We also noticed lots of little features on the beach that made our stay more pleasant. For example, there was a small cool bag with water bottles and cool towels in it. Simply great! Flowers in the rolled towels, a narrow path made of woven raffia leading to the sun loungers and the sea and small snacks several times a day. Things like that make the difference! The beach is very well maintained, but not quite as paradisiacal as in Thailand, for example:-) but that's really "complaining" at a very high level or a subjective thing:-) The pool was also great! The lush vegetation really makes you feel like you're in the jungle and you can soak up the atmosphere. Pure relaxation! The service deserves a special mention. Unfortunately, we didn't have such good experiences with the service at the other hotel, as we were used to much better service in Thailand. But here we felt completely at ease and looked after! Everyone was very attentive and left nothing to be desired! Personal conversations were also the order of the day. A word about the breakfast... PERFECT! The selection was plentiful and of very good quality! We wanted to eat outside and were escorted outside as soon as a table became free. The view was of course a dream! Our conclusion: This is exactly how a 5-star beach resort should be! We immediately extended our stay by one night! An absolute recommendation! But also a very expensive one...

Excellent with room for improvement!

Hotel has 5 levels and our room was on the "sea" level. Rooms are well appointed with sea view. Room has a touch of colonial vibe, well maintained and sparkling clean. The rain shower is amazing and you can open up the swing-out window to enjoy the luscious green view while taking a shower. Just be mindful of monkeys taking stroll past your room. Room comes with beach bag, slippers, one vietnamese conical hat, TWG tea, Illy coffee etc. The space was sufficient for two us including our large suit cases. Monkeys are part of the nature so please do not be alarmed when spotted one and always keep your balcony door double locked as advised by our porter. Love how clever to have a in-house tram to take you up/down to different tier of the mountain. Tram is one of the highlights and it is beautifully design and always serviced by a staff. You can choose to walk a longer route to other areas too, which we did as well. Buggy service is available throughout the resort. We dined at Citron for all our meals. Breakfast is incredible and dinner is ala carte ordering. I must give compliments to the female chef whom i approached on my first breakfast morning, and i asked if she could make GF/Egg Free and DAiry Free pancakes. She checked and told me if I return tomorrow for breakfast, she will make it for me. She is such a darling. She spotted me at breakfast the second morning and told me she is preparing the pancakes for me. I am so grateful for the attentive service. A lot of offerings for dinner ala carte menu. But i find the price of ala carte dinner to be very expensive. Mr. Thein, Huy Min, a very good looking young female chef and the rest of the service staff at Citron always made sure we are well taken care of. Checked on us from time to time without being too intrusive. We can tell how well the hotel train their staff to be so immaculate and attentive to details. Well done guys! Had a lazy noon at the beach. Sun deck chairs are abundant and well spaced out. Beach is very clean, very instagram worthy, many staff on duty, free beach activties etc. The water is very calm, cooling and very comfortable to swim in. The alluring beauty of mother nature makes me want to return to Inter con again and again. The reasons why i did not give it a 5 star review: 1. During check-in, the reception placed 3 pairs of us guests in the same waiting area. They could have handled it better by spacing us out, giving each couple some privacy and space during check in. I felt rushed and claustrophobic when so many things were happening at the same time with different people. 2. Complimentary drinks are limited to the small variety of options. Given the hotel rate per night, we think that hotel can be more generous in their free drinks redemption offerings. I think Sheraton Danang is more generous in this area. 3. While we were enjoying our drinks, a staff approached me and asked to give a review on tripadvisor. When i told the staff that i normally give a review after my entire trip back home, the staff told me it is just a 2 minute process. To us, this is a big no for a 5 star resort. We do not like to be interruppted and solicited for reviews. Sadly, this discredits our experience. 4. The air con in our room lost power one night between 1-2am. I had to call the reception to inform this. The technician came back and got it up back. During the outage, we could hear foot steps from the unit above us and also baby crying. So we understand later that this outage affected the entire block. Hotel manager came to look for us at breakfast to apologize over the incident and during check out, they waived our breakfast for this issue. Art gallery is worth visiting but because it was closed on the days we were there, we only visited on check out morning for a brief 5 minute. A shame as we really liked something there but we are not able to find out more due to time constraint. Overall, it was still an excellent resort and time spent. I will return if I have the chance to.

Great place, probably up there with the best resorts in Asia. Everyone here is very nice, and the food is great. Uyen & Ly were particularly helpful at the Barefoot BBQ. A really nice location and just great great great fun. Is that 200 words yet?

Uyen Le made us feel very welcome and the setting is spectacular! Highly recommend. The food was excellent and they have an extensive wine menu. We thoroughly enjoyed cocktails while looking at the clean and picturesque beach. The decor is also amazing
