InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort is set on a secluded stretch of coastline within the Son Tra Peninsula Nature Reserve, designed by acclaimed architect Bill Bensley to reflect traditional Vietnamese heritage through a bold, contemporary lens. The resort cascades down the hillside toward a private beach, with guest rooms, suites, and villas featuring expansive terraces, panoramic sea views, and refined interiors that balance artistry with comfort. Signature amenities include multiple swimming pools, a private beach, a fitness center, curated cultural experiences, and attentive concierge service. The overall theme blends theatrical design with a deep connection to nature, creating an immersive, highly atmospheric stay that feels both exclusive and culturally rich.

Rating: 3.5/5 I am currently on the second night of a 2-night stay here, which follows a bit of a chaotic booking process months prior. I had originally planned a 4-night multi-room stay for my son’s 14th birthday. Due to an app mishap, one room was accidentally booked as non-refundable. While the resort originally didn't charge my card, they later held firm on the policy. After escalating the issue to IHG corporate and the GM, they kindly allowed a cancellation without penalty, and we ultimately moved the birthday celebration to the Banyan Tree Lăng Cô. Because I had purchased an InterContinental Ambassador membership specifically for this trip, I decided to keep a 2-night stay to experience the property. I did wonder if the booking fiasco had left a mark on my profile, as the service during our stay so far has felt a bit uneven. The Pros: Breakfast at Citron: Easily a highlight. The freshly made juices, fresh coconut, and salted coffee were excellent. Local dishes like the bánh canh and bánh cuốn completely hit the spot, and the fruit selection was incredibly sweet. The Citron Staff: The team here works cohesively with fast teamwork, from the managers to the busboys. A special shoutout to our waitress, Nhi Cao (or Nhi Dao), who was incredibly warm, welcoming, and by far the nicest staff member we have encountered. The Beach: The sand is golden and coarse (reminds me of Hawaii), and the water is perfectly calm for swimming. The beach attendants are fantastic and super helpful. The Cons / Areas for Improvement: Elite Recognition & Front Desk: My IHG app indicated I had been upgraded to a Panoramic Room due to my status, but upon check-in, we were assigned a standard Ocean View room. I haven't felt much of the typical Ambassador premium treatment. To be completely fair, I had just arrived from Hội An and the ride gave me a bit of motion sickness and a headache, so I was already feeling cranky. When I later inquired about why the app's upgrade wasn't reflected, the same girl who escorted us to room #387 defensively stated that because I had a headache, they just gave us the earliest available room so I could rest at 2:30 PM instead of making us wait for the official 3:00 PM check-in room. While I appreciate the early entry, the delivery carried a bit of an attitude, and it felt like my Ambassador upgrade was bypassed without a clear explanation or option given to me beforehand. Activity Availability: I was disappointed to find out that all of the resort's nature tours are completely fully booked. I had to put my family on a waitlist for the 8:00 AM tour tomorrow morning, which is a tight squeeze considering our check-out is at 12:00 PM. For a luxury resort, I expected better capacity or proactive communication regarding booking activities in advance. Minor Details: The resort gets incredibly hot with very little breeze. While the restaurant team was great, the floor cleaning lady seemed visually unhappy. Lastly, just a note for future guests that Long Bar doesn’t open until 11:00 AM. Overall, it’s a beautiful resort with fantastic food, but the hospitality from the front desk and room team could be elevated to truly match its luxury reputation and reward loyal IHG members.

An amazing stay from start to finish. The team genuinely goes above and beyond — nothing is ever too much trouble. They helped collect a cake for a birthday celebration, arranged buggies whenever we needed them, and handled every request with real speed and care. The whole team was professional, warm, and attentive throughout, and every part of the experience felt thoughtfully looked after. One honest piece of feedback for other guests and for the property: there are some steps around the property that can be hard to see at night, so do take care in low light — a bit more lighting or signage there would make a great stay even safer. That aside, everything was excellent and we’d happily return. Highly recommended.

This is a summary of my stay at the Intercontinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort. 1) There is No AC in most of the facilities, not even in the reception; not even ceiling fans in the reception area? First impressions are everything. You enter the hotel reception to check in and you’re sweating like a caged animal. Is that luxury? More like how you treat prisoners. How can you enjoy your stay when you're sweating as you eat or try to enjoy the ocean side bar? Terrible! I was hot the entire time after I left my room. The resort makes little effort to provide cooling in the various facilities, other than two of the restaurants. 2) They need water misters in many outside areas because it’s very hot. 3) The outside bar of the French restaurant is not only incredibly hot and needs water misters, but it’s also shockingly dangerous, as there’s a small shallow pool of water (about 2 feet wide) separating you from a steep cliff. This is third world safety standards! 4) The TV in my room was the worst ever...worse than any budget hotel. No Netflix and no ability to install any apps so you got maybe 10 Viet channels and that's it. We called the staff and they sent a technician who was not helpful and had a bad attitude. What a joke! I'm paying $700/night for this??? 5) They hide the minibar price list from you until the night before you check out so you will consume items. Why would they do this? Because they charge you $8 (200K VND) for each can of Coca Cola or other soda, which is even more than their restaurants charge, knowing that you’re stuck there with no other options. But they won’t even give you the price list in advance. It’s exploitative and cheap. Why does a supposedly “5-star luxury resort” feel the need to nickel and dime their patrons when they're already spending a good deal of money on the room? The mini bar should actually be free given the prices they charge. 6) The nickel and diming was a trend. Within minutes of entering reception for check-in, a young woman came to us to pretend to go over our reservations telling us that we did not pay for breakfast but if we wanted to purchase a club add-on it included breakfast. I have never been subjected to such a low class tactic in my life. And I have stayed in various high-end hotels across Asia. If I wanted the club garbage I’d have bought it when I reserved the room. There’s not even any time to utilize the club benefits because you’re spending so much time being transported back and forth to your room and to facilities. They know that but they just want to extract more money out of customers. 7) The day before we were scheduled to check out, the same sales girl (yes she’s clearly specifically in sales, but disguised as some customer service or reception staff) called me to ask if we needed an airport transfer. Again, this has never happened in all of my stays. Hotels know you are an adult so you will ask them for a transfer if you need one. We were on a 3-month trip so we weren’t even headed to the airport anyway. Why does this resort make me feel that they are trying to extract as much money from me as possible?? Why have I never had this feeling at any other hotels or resorts I’ve stayed at in my life? Just terrible, cheap and low-class behavior. 8) The Italian restaurant (Terra Mare) with a fake Italian menu and a Viet chef. Why can’t a resort that charges huge prices hire an Italian chef? If they did, maybe the pasta would be acceptable instead of a total disaster. The lobster pappardelle was disgusting. We had to send it back. We had beef pappardelle at the Marriot Resort a couple of days earlier and it was spectacular and 1/5 of the price. The menu was truly terrible. The food at this “resort” isn’t good and is ridiculous for the price. 9) The ocean side bar (which only has ceiling fans and is therefore quite hot) actually serves peanuts that look like they came from Circle-K as well as those sugar coated pretzels you get at bus stops when you head to villages in Vietnam. Yes, the bar serves low end snacks! Disgraceful. Every single experience I encounter at a 5-star luxury resort needs to be luxury. I don;'t feel I had any luxury experienced. Serving low end snacks at a bar that changes exorbitant prices for drinks is just not acceptable. Again, this is failed management. The one good thing I’ll say is that the hotel does a good job of getting you transportation around the hotel grounds, but without it you’re stuck because you literally cannot walk to any location from your room, which is a deal killer. You end up wasting a large amount of time going back and forth from having a drink at the beach bar to going back to your room to freshen up before dinner, etc. The whole logistics of the resort are terrible. The staff are also nice, but they don’t seem to be in-sync with service standards you’d expect at a high end resort. This is a management issue though, not a staff issue. I suppose management thinks all they need to do is show up and smile and every guest will be happy because of the location and room, maybe because many people go there only for pictures? Well, I have a better view of the ocean from my condo in Quy Nhon. And the food is better in the tourist (backpacker) area of Danang at 1/5the the cost. Clearly, the general manager is missing in action and does not know how to run a resort that markets itself as a "5-star luxury resort." I recommend getting an experienced American to run the resort because they know what they’re doing, just like the American architect who designed the hotel. I’ll never return to this place. I feel like I wasted $2,000 for two nights that should have cost $200.

Having been to Many luxury hotels around the world , this one Tops them all for its location , beautiful Scenary , Beach , Restaurants and amzing Staff ( To name a few- Thien- Pool & Long Bar, Ding( Thinhg) , Long Bar, Harry Cub Lounge, Ellie at Terra Mare, An in the Club Lounge, Baou at the long Bar, Van Doan in the Namtram , Alice at Terra Mare, Dong at the Beach, Xuan at the pool who looked after us so well!!. And Adam in the club lounge who made us welcome when arriving late on our first Night , And a big thanks to Richie the Manger ! What an amazing team , this is just a few names but every member of staff at this hotel are just amazing !! Oh and not to foregt the Monkeys , we spent lots of time watching the families play. We loved every minute of our stay, a 30 Minute drive form Danang and 1 hour to Hoi An , on its own beauutiful peninsular with the most amazing beach. The choice of restaurants is superb , we tried all of them and all equally fantastic!! Even if you want to chill with a beer/cocktail and a burger at the Long Bar and watch the sunset, the food is still excellent and the view amazing. We did the beach BBQ twice at Terra mare with live Music ( would be nice to see live mucic more often at the Long Bar)The service at cocktail hour in the lounge every night was the best of any lounge we have experienced , with beautiful views over the resort and sea. This is a large resort but doesnt feel it , we stayed in room 509 , closest block to the Club Lounge, Citron, Tingara and the Nam Cham , great location , but the buggies are very frequesnt and you can hop on and off at any time to get around the resort. You must go to this hotel and stay a while ( we stayed 12 days), make the most of the amzing hotel that it is!!

We returned to the InterContinental Danang for the second time, this time for five nights, together with our 8-year-old son, and once again it was an exceptional experience from the moment of arrival to checkout. The resort itself as well as the service were absolutely five-star in every way. From the very first moment at check-in, we were welcomed with an incredible view over the property and the sea, which instantly set the tone for our stay. The entire resort is beautifully designed, with loving attention to detail everywhere. It has the beautiful Bill Bensley style throughout, and you immediately feel as though you have entered a different world — one that is peaceful, elegant, and completely removed from the stress of everyday life. It truly is an oasis of calm, perfect for anyone looking to unwind and recharge. One of the biggest highlights for us was the wildlife and the natural surroundings. We saw a baby monkey, a tokeh gecko, starfish in the sea, and many different fish, which made the experience feel even more unique and memorable. For our son, the daily net fishing activity was a true highlight. He loved watching the fish being caught and then released again, and it quickly became something he looked forward to every day. There were also many other activities on offer, giving families plenty of options to enjoy their stay. A special thank you goes to Chanh Dang, who gave so much effort and enthusiasm to the net fishing activity with our son. His kindness and energy made a big difference to our experience. The food was another highlight of our stay, especially at the new Italian Restauranat. The quality was excellent throughout, and the cuisine felt both innovative and refined, while still featuring familiar dishes with a thoughtful twist. Every meal felt carefully prepared and full of flavor. The wagyu carpaccio was also absolutely amazing and one of the standout dishes of our stay. We had booked the half-board package, which normally includes a children’s menu, but our son prefers to eat adult dishes. A special thank you to Olivier for kindly arranging a swap for us, which made things much easier and more enjoyable. Throughout our stay, the staff were incredibly attentive, warm, and professional. We were even recognized again after three years, which made us feel especially welcome and remembered. This resort has truly become our place to be in Vietnam, and we are already looking forward to returning again.
