Reviews for Hotel Barriere Le Normandy Deauville
This is the second visit to this hotel, both times with a group of ladies for a golf break. The staff can not do enough for you, the valet parking is well worth it and the restaurant staff are fantastic. There were minor issues with our room (missing glasses, beds not separated into twins) but the hotel sorted this while we were at dinner so no complaints. The breakfast is fantastic and lots of choice. We ate dinner each night and whilst in the main food is very good we did have to send some meals back as they were cold. If I could make any criticism there could be more choice on the menu for the evening and the drinks in the bar are expensive (€20 for a G&T!!!) Overall it's a wonderful place, right on the beach, in the centre of beautiful Deauville and we will definitely be returning.

What a nice hotel we stayed in! It is accurate, nicely decorated, well situated. The building is very curious in architect. The staff are very friendly and professional. Will be surely chosen for next time visit.

I walked into the suite which we had paid $3500 for 4 nights and was far from happy. Overpowering "busy" wallpaper making the suite feel very small, low ceilings carried on the bat cave theme and don't get me started on the bathroom. Large bathroom and tucked away in the corner was a small cell like room for the toilet, so small when you stood up you hit your head! Manager should stay a night in this expensive room and make a list to justifies the price, I think the list would be short or non-existent! Tiny windows that did not let in light until dark when the entire place was floodlit by the huge spot lights pointed at the front of the hotel and inadequate "blackout" curtains! No thought in decor or ambience. The breakfast experience is akin to a Mc Donald's with kids running all over the place and no table cloths. What does 5 star mean in France? Certainly won't be returning after we leave tomorrow. Give this place a miss unless you are looking for a bat cave to sleep in with kids everywhere! Awful.

All works well. At very elevated prices. Do not at all expect value for plenty of your money. Bar and restaurant equally overpriced. Garage at only € 33. But location is perfect. Your wife will estimate the Retail Therapy offered nearby. Take it with humour.

My wife and I stayed here as a a birthday treat for her. We had stayed here many years ago and were looking forwards to staying again The hotel is centrally situated in Deauville and the beach only a few minutes walk away We often went to Trouville as there was a bit more of a buzz there and an excellent selection of restaurants Reception was good and first impressions of the hotel favourable The room was on the small side but adequate and appropriately furmished The coffee maker was a nice touch The bathroom was a good size but the towels were very thin and needed to be replaced The balcony was adequate but we did not use it - 1.We were out all day 2.Pigeons had made their home there and it was not a great place to sit OK so I could have complained but in our case it was not an issue as we were out all day The staff were all very pleasant and there was always a friendly 'bonjour ' when passed in the corridor Breakfast was served in the main dining room We were welcomed by a member of staff and taken to a table That's when the fun started- Only one station to cut bread, the eggs, bacon etc. in the warmer were only lukewarm and were cold by the time I got back to the table because the plates were cold The only way to get something hot was to queue up and ask the chef there to cook it freshly The tables were very close together and one had to walk sideways between them The tables were cafe style and it would have been nice to have a tablecloth-as all the other Barriere hotels I have stayed at have done Our disastrous evening meal in the Belle Epoque to celebrate my wifes birthday is covered elsewhere This is a 5* hotel and must be judged on those standards Whilst the public rooms were grand and service good, the areas I have discussed let the Normandy down In short, compared to other Barriere hotels, the Normandy was a great disappointment and we shall not be staying there again
