The Seagate Hotel & Spa in Delray Beach, Florida

Face the sea and you might catch a breeze from Grand Bahama, just 85 miles offshore. Island ease is a way of life at The Seagate Hotel & Spa, sandwiched between a private beach and the boutique- and gallery-lined main street of what USA Today named America's Most Fun Small Town. Delray Beach – and Seagate's PGA-caliber country club down the road – may be a temptation, but indulging in the resort's understated luxury holds equal pull. Guests who choose to wander can do so with a complimentary chauffeur to destinations up to three miles away.

Greet the morning with a stroll by the ocean, accessed through the British Colonial façade of Seagate's private beach club. Continue to unwind in a cabana by the beachside pool, watermelon daiquiri in hand. Rekindle your afternoon energy with a private tennis lesson, then get ready for an al fresco dinner in the company of sharks (and Garibaldi damselfish – the property's reef-sized tropical fish tanks are award-winning). The night is young, and Atlantic Avenue's nightclubs await. That cabana is waiting for you tomorrow.

We checked in and like the room but not the location. The rooms terrace had obstructed views by 2 large Palm trees...Darren the front desk Mgr was less than caring or accomadating. He argued over the trees and view until I literally showed him a picture. That was the beginning of a less than good experience. Room service dinner from their top restaurant the Atlantic Grill was an abomination. The food was inedible, no dressing on the Caesar Salad (called twice for dressing, none arrived) the Crab Cake appetizer was horrible, the Seared Tuna smelled bad and the burger was dry, over done and tasted like? The 2 positives, the fries were ok and the Key Lime Pie was good. Let’s discuss the Beach Club run by George who is very nice and accomadating. However they will not serve food on the beach, allow you to order food prior to going up to the restaurant, and asked me not to smoke my cigar on the beach...? The Valet parking at both the hotel and beach club are disorganized and completely overwhelmed. The beach club had 1 valet (one day) waited 30 minutes for our car. At the hotel I would call to have my car pulled prior to coming down and still had to wait in ordinate amount of time. Overall the staff was very nice, friendly and tried to be accomadating besides Darren who every staff member apologized for and relayed their guest/ Darren story, not understanding how this guy is still at the front desk. The rooms were nice, clean and modern.

Like the location, a few blocks from the beach, great staff and overall the best hotel in Delray. Parking is easy, think its $20 per day, and the staff is super friendly. Check-in again easy but make sure your room has an exterior view. I can't sleep in an inward facing room so if you are like me make sure to ask. Our room was large, big bathroom and nice area to sit and watch TV. Nice desk to work at and a small balcony. I really found the room to be well appointed, the bed comfortable, and the blind really keeps out the light in the am. They have a small gym, better than most, and a nice spa. We didn't have time to go to the beach club but was their a year ago and loved the food and views. They said the current chef is great - will visit on my next trip. Overall, expensive but worth the price. Lovely spot, great service and fun for a few days.

Our family of 5 had a wonderful stay at the Seagate. The service from the moment we pulled in was outstanding. The sea themed art work gives it a soothing feel. The cafe, restaurant, pool, beach club, gym and spa gave us all options for things to do. From Cody, one of the bell hops, Lina in the spa to the front staff, concierge, drivers (an Uber style trip to anywhere within a few miles included as part of the stay) and housekeeping, I felt like as the customer I was really the center of attention. My kids also commented on how great everyone was and surprised that as kids, they were also treated so well. The Atlantic Grille with its tanks of moray eels, lionfish, sharks and jellyfish entertained the kids. The service was beyond outstanding. And the spa. Wow. Do the Rainfall massage. It’s a bit of a splurge to stay here but well worth it.

The service was dull and slow at best. The food was bland, dull and typical...nothing special here at all. And expensive for the quality of service and food....would not recommend. Do not waste your money...many more quality places in Delray Beach...

After a very long day of delayed flights and poor service with the airlines, our room at the Seagate was not ready when we arrived. A person behind the counter said something like "we can give them the (?) room," but the desk clerk said "I'm not giving them that room." It was obvious we didn't have the "money" look. It was over an hour before we could go to our room. They did send a fruit basket apologizing for the wait. But still. Overall very nice hotel, very nice staff (other than that one rude guy at the front desk), very good restaurant/bar, excellent location, okay pool, but great transportation to the beach/beach club.
