The Seagate Hotel & Spa in Delray Beach, Florida

Face the sea and you might catch a breeze from Grand Bahama, just 85 miles offshore. Island ease is a way of life at The Seagate Hotel & Spa, sandwiched between a private beach and the boutique- and gallery-lined main street of what USA Today named America's Most Fun Small Town. Delray Beach – and Seagate's PGA-caliber country club down the road – may be a temptation, but indulging in the resort's understated luxury holds equal pull. Guests who choose to wander can do so with a complimentary chauffeur to destinations up to three miles away.

Greet the morning with a stroll by the ocean, accessed through the British Colonial fašade of Seagate's private beach club. Continue to unwind in a cabana by the beachside pool, watermelon daiquiri in hand. Rekindle your afternoon energy with a private tennis lesson, then get ready for an al fresco dinner in the company of sharks (and Garibaldi damselfish – the property's reef-sized tropical fish tanks are award-winning). The night is young, and Atlantic Avenue's nightclubs await. That cabana is waiting for you tomorrow.

I went to the spa for a special occasion with friends. The spa is clean, beautiful, and has lots of nice amenities. The services, while fabulous in description, were not much better than what one would get at a much cheaper place. In fact, the pedicure was on par with every other strip mall nail place and lasted about as long- despite the description. The Crushed Cabernet Body Polish was relaxing but did not leave me with the ultra smooth glow that I've gotten at other places. The highlight for me was the Deep Tissue massage which was wonderful. I don't regret coming here for a special occasion because of the posh atmosphere, but if I'm looking for top-notch services, I'll look elsewhere.

Only write reviews for excellent or to warn other travelers. I will give the Seagate 1 star for a comfortable bed and we requested & received a room on the quiet side of hotel. The Seagate was truly the low stop on an otherwise fabulous vacation. The staff could all use a crash course in hospitality, as that is the premise of the industry. Beware of the evening shuttle service !! It is advertised as complementary anywhere in a 4 mile area until 11p.m. with the fair request of call before 10:45 p.m. Our first episode was at 9:30 p.m. , we called requesting a 1/2 mile ride back. Our driver was prompt. Another couple was waiting as well for the hotel shuttle and the gentleman was finishing paying their check and the pregnant woman was waiting curbside as requested. The driver was clearly angry about something , as she was screaming into her cell phone, threw it down and informed the other couple that she would not wait for them although the man was clearly making his way out the door. We said it was fine to wait for them and plenty of room in the Escalade -- the driver sped off leaving them stranded and drove like she was under the influence. Erratic. reckless thru lights and way above the speed limit. We rarely complain but did , politely, as we felt she should not be in service that night and was a danger as well as rude. The valet said it was not his first complaint about her. The concierge told us the next day that she was a fill in and two regular drivers were on for Friday nite . Our second experience was even worse !! We ubered out, stayed in our 4 mile radius & We dutifully called at 10:40 p.m. , we asked if we could drop off a local family member that was literally on the same Blvd . He had to drive past her apartment and she was even the one who recommended the Seagate . No one else was with us and it simply required him pulling over. Our driver looked at us and said " It's 11:01 and you are lucky I am giving you a ride at all " but the topper was when he said "oh , your the people from last night that complained" . The level of professionalism from the desk to the drivers was not acceptable. On two days we arrived back to our room at 4:30 to get ready for dinner , and housekeeping had not been there yet or was in the process of cleaning-- inconvenient. Arrival was rough as people were cutting in front of us and desk staff acted as if we were invisible. The 3 days we were there, the closest elevator was out of service , a problem if you are physically challenged . We had charges from the mini bar for items that we did not use -- only to find out the next day , when it was fully stocked , that we were charged for items that were missing. The Grill was ok , nothing compared to other dining options around. Beach club gets 3 stars for service. My advice -- Other resort options in the area and uber . Also. Don't complain as you will be quickly "labeled" .

I was in DelRay for 6 days seeing a few clients. Being from upstate NY, and the fact that it is still snowing in Albany, my husband decided to join me. The Seagate is a luxurious retreat. Every employee was very friendly and made us feel at home. The courtesy car service was always available and prompt. As a guest of the hotel, we were able to entertain clients at the pool and beach club. I would simply let the valet know who was coming and when and the would greet my clients with "Mr. K is waiting for you in the lobby". Very classy. This hotel is as nice as any ritz or four seasons. Highly recommend the Seagate.

This was the fifth time we have stayed at Seagate and the hotel has been consistently good over the years. Service from the front desk to the valet to the Beach club is exceptional with everyone doing their utmost to make your stay memorable. The rooms were well appointed and room service was excellent. Unless you are very hard to please this is a great choice at the quiet end of Atlantic Avenue.

While there was a perfect balance of quality and cleanliness in the hotel there are some clear down sides seen, most related to cost :( If paying over $400 a night the lack of free parking and costly valet is just an annoyance. Same could be said for the charge on wifi Disappointing over all very good but not excellent .
