The Seagate Hotel & Spa in Delray Beach, Florida

Face the sea and you might catch a breeze from Grand Bahama, just 85 miles offshore. Island ease is a way of life at The Seagate Hotel & Spa, sandwiched between a private beach and the boutique- and gallery-lined main street of what USA Today named America's Most Fun Small Town. Delray Beach – and Seagate's PGA-caliber country club down the road – may be a temptation, but indulging in the resort's understated luxury holds equal pull. Guests who choose to wander can do so with a complimentary chauffeur to destinations up to three miles away.

Greet the morning with a stroll by the ocean, accessed through the British Colonial fašade of Seagate's private beach club. Continue to unwind in a cabana by the beachside pool, watermelon daiquiri in hand. Rekindle your afternoon energy with a private tennis lesson, then get ready for an al fresco dinner in the company of sharks (and Garibaldi damselfish – the property's reef-sized tropical fish tanks are award-winning). The night is young, and Atlantic Avenue's nightclubs await. That cabana is waiting for you tomorrow.

Located a few blocks from the public beach and a 3 minute drive from the Seagate Beach Club (the hotel provides transport back and forth all day), this hotel gives you the perfect combination of town and beach. There is a lovely outdoor pool and bar at the hotel (near the spa). There is also a pool at the Beach Club, which needs some serious updating. The beach is lovely and umbrellas/lounge chairs are included. The restaurant at the club is excellent. We enjoyed lunches and dinner there.

Very clean. Pristine rooms with excellent bedding and mattresses. Large washroom and shower. Quiet. Great location near the beach and town activities. BurgerFi nearby. All restaurants and bars just along the same street in walking distance. Free shuttle to most places nearby.

The decor is beautiful. Our room had everything you could want and more. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location was convenient. Their beach facility is great, all you have to do is walk to the ocean, the lounge, umbrella, towels and a cocktail appear magically. We had great facials in the spa (pricey but what you'd expect in a touristy place).

We enjoyed a wonderful family reunion at the Seagate resort - both the Beach Club and Hotel. Staff lovely - so completely accommodating- the valet even helped resolve a flat tire by calling AAA for me! When we learned that the pool lift was temporarily out of commission , they offered several options to transport my 98 year old mother to the pool deck. We commandeered their outdoor beach side restaurant space all afternoon and they waited in us hand and foot. Many thanks to everyone there!

I stayed at the Seagate for one week. We arrived at noon, when we walked in the woman at the front desk asked us for our name and credit card and told us to come back at 3pm for check-in. She did not provide us with a description of the hotel or ask how our flight was, it was pouring raining out, she said we should go get lunch and wait until 3pm. She did not provide us with any information about the area or even offer us a complimentary drink at the bar. When it is pouring in Delray you are really limited on what you can do. I would think as a front desk associate, she could have welcomed us more graciously, explained the hotel and area, maybe offered us a cocktail or bottle of water and maybe offered us an umbrella to borrow so we could go outside. She could have also done her best to expedite the room, June is not the busy season. There is no reason the room shouldn't have been ready. They should ask what time to expect you and do their best to have a room ready. Most high end hotels will call you to confirm your trip and arrival time so they can do their best to accommodate you. We never received a call from this hotel to confirm arrival and they really could care less that we were there. After walking to lunch in the rain with no umbrella, we came back to see if the room was ready and it wasn't. Instead of a king bed room the only room ready was a room with two queens. My husband and I took it since we had no idea when our room would be ready. We did not want to sit around for another two hours. There were guests sitting on the couches in the lobby with their shoes off and feet on the couch. We booked a room with a balcony, the room they gave us overlooked a parking lot. Again this is the off season and I booked this vacation in February. I would think they could have provided us with a room that had a balcony overlooking the pool or town not a parking lot. Especially since it was booked so far in advance and we were staying for an entire week. Other than the poor checkin experience and bad balcony view. The valet attendants and drivers were very kind and treated us everyday with respect and a smile. They really provided excellent service and were so much more friendly than the front desk staff, who did not even greet us once every time we were in and out. The hotel is very clean. The room service is very good and fast. The beach club is nice however one day they refused to provide us with an umbrella they said it was too windy, however many people on the beach had umbrellas up. I think they were exaggerating the wind factor. Sometimes there was no one there to greet us when checking in at the beach club, they do not serve food on the beach and forbid you to bring your own. The bathrooms were under construction so that was also inconvenient and they should be a little quicker about cleaning up the used towels left on chairs when people leave. I guess we are just used to a higher level of service. Maybe since it is the off season they do not feel we deserved it. However this is the first opportunity my husband and I had to take a vacation and we expected a little more on the customer service side. Maybe we are just used to the high level of service provided year round at the Four Seasons and Ritz Carlton. I would suggest training for the front desk staff on hospitality management and how to greet clients.
